Zanardi was phenomenal between 97 and 98.

Was at both 97 an 98 LBGP and have yet to experience the excitement that Zanardi brought to the fans! Thank you Alex! God bless you!

I loved CART in the late 90s.. it was a better, simpler time.

AZ!! I was there. Remember he did this coming from a lap down with a bent push rod. He was unreal in these cars. Robin Hill bent the steering rod back and sent him out. Castroneves had one of his best drives to date but put it in the tires trying to get by Gil for the lead. A great race! Also, RIP Greg Moore, he'd be kicking ass right now in the IRL days.

Brings back some good childhood memories. These cars would straight up destroy the IRL cars of today.

Great pass by Zanardi! Must be CART's best driver ever. Seems like Herta couldn't hold his own down into turn 2.

CART IndyCar of the 1990s was glorious! The split of course destroyed everything and here we are in 2021 and IndyCar is FINALLY starting to get back to where it used to be.

@dario272 He DID write some. He won touring car world championship races and noe he is a winner at the New York Marathon. I wouldn't be surprised seeing him winning a gold medal at the paralympics in 2012... A great champion!

But he wouldn't have won any of those para races if he hadn't been driving the best wheelchair...:)

9:50 - Bryan Herta is a good racer. If Zanardi would've tried that move on Tracy or Michael, they both would've crashed.

I wonder how good it feels to win like that

Zanardi made up for Senna never living to come to America to drive Champ Car. A lot of passes Zanardi made looked like ones Senna would have made.

Once he is past Herta, Alex sure looks far quicker through the hairpin.

@romero2k alex was superior to a lot of drivers he was really in a very good carrer moment... too bad about 2001, he was finding the pace and slowly was getting up to speed when we all know what happened, he could've written many more moments
