Some very handsome models, some of which I wish were available in gauge 1

I agree with RML Bobby D with his comments on drivers; more importantly we must ask ourselves as model railway builders one pertinent question, how much of the 'real world' do I want to add to my model railway? With the increased number of new accessories on the internet and new technology is expanding the 'real world' boundary all the time, now with DCC we can run as many trains as possible on one piece of track without them crashing. We have realistic sound tuned to replicate what ever class of locomotive or multiple unit we're operating; do we still add that old bit of tech, smoke whose generators are still being manufactured and who would dare put it into a class 37 and throw up tons of clag (or smoke) on start up? It is exciting to see how much we can add compared to what was available in the seventies, the challenge now is doing it as cost effectively as possible! - Happy days!

Lovely layout, but, I can’t see DRIVERS! You MUST have drivers, even if it’s just a face at a window! Best wishes.

The chuffing sounds too harsh to me like a very angry dog barking.

Firstly compared to what was available previously there has been tremendous improvements to get the correct sound replication for each class of locomotive. However listening to a real black five and Hornby's black five at start off the problem seems to be the bass level, that I think is due to the lack of a woofer!

Gotta be fair..the sounds from the steam loco's are rubbish compared to the diesels.
