I've been riding my Aventon Cordoba for over 3 years now with over 10000km and the frame holds up as strong as ever! Love the bike, what a joy to ride every time. It's a real shame that Aventon abandoned fixed bikes altogether and are now focusing only on e-bikes :(
I'm from Austria (not Australia) and I bought my Aventon from a shop in Vienna. You can't buy their bikes online in Europe but there are far more dealers than they show on their homepage. Btw as you probably have seen in the results of the last rhc, the Aventon factory team is on the first place overall. Also my friends told me not to buy an Aventon, because they said that there are better bikes for that price (like Colossi or Dolan). Still did it and I'm absolutely happy with it.
Hello. I've been watching you're videos off an on for a while. I've had my eye on the Kilo TT as my first fix gear since I've heard you mention it. As I was getting closer to purchasing I was looking at the Kilo WT. I liked the green color, the wider tire clearance, and the handle bar set up. However, today I just bought a Fuji Feather. I should be getting it Friday and I'm pumped. I got the green one, and I'm going to run it stock except for adding some leather wraps on the handle bars for more grip. Brown to match the seat keeping it proper. I'm also going to run it single speed at first, so much for fixie points. The biggest reason I ended up going for the Feather was the personalized experience for buying it at a bike shop from someone who knew what he was talking about. He made sure I got the right size and will build it to my specifications free of charge. I ended up paying $490 for the bike and the straps. Thanks for your content, it's been a great help. God bless you and Merry Christmas. I'll send some picks after I get it.
I've been on the Aventon Cordoba 2017 LE since it came out and I LOVE IT! It's a great value and to know that's the frame their Factory team is racing Red Hook Crit on gives me confidence in the bike. Their team is killing it on these $300 frames compared to the really expensive Specialized and Pinerello bikes they're racing againts. Their customer service is great too!
yeay.... my bike is on that list!!! I got the Fuji feather in that mint color. Upgrades so far include TRP RRL SR hood-levers, Brooks saddle and bartape and continental grand prix 4000 s II tires. Also clipless pedals from shimano and a longer BLB seattube. Cables and Breaks are pink... which creates a nice contrast to the frame. I'm proud of it
I got my Kilo TT Pro yesterday and I’m VERY happy with it. Solid bike, I got the Shark Grey color. Every component seems of good quality. Two things I’m replacing right away; the saddle and pedals, that’s it nothing else. No broken parts, bent, or scratched.
It's now 2023 and if you're looking for a good fixed gear, try to find an Aventon Cordoba in your size. I picked one up a year ago for $150. I had it gone over front to back at a shop I trust and have been enjoying it ever since. If the one you find still has its stock Kenda Criterium tires on it, chuck those for a pair of folding Continental Ultra Sport III. They transformed the ride and ease of riding for me.
I'm not new to bikes but new to this style. Got a cordoba because of this video. Absolutely love it. Just grabbed some eggbeaters off one of my old BMX race bikes and added head/tail lights. Rides like a dream but I think I'm gonna have to run chain tensioner. No matter how tight I get the rear wheel it will eventually work loose just a bit to where it's slightly crooked and I can feel the drag from it trying to track sideways.
I've been riding a Fuji Track for two months, it cost me around 400 USD and I have to say that except for pedals and straps (which I am planning to upgrade eventually) and the saddle (as one can normally expect from a default saddle) I'm totally in love for this bike!
for US riders most of the aluminum frame track bikes are basically the same. aventons, thrones, crew, unknown, its all basically the same. some are just more pricey. and i personally owns the aventon cordoba limited edition, ill say besides the 5 tires i've been through for the last whole year(#brakeless) everything else is pretty durable
I think the Fuji Declaration is a better beginner bike than the Feather. It comes with Oval Concept components which aren't the best but perform consistently. And it's got the same wheel set, and a threadless fork/headset. Used one for a delivery job and it's really nimble
What about a Specialized Langster. I picked up a used one for $350, includes u-lock and lights. Been riding fixed for a week now, it's awesome! Generic peddles, crankset and cogs but good seats and handlebars.
Lian Cualoping That's what I've been using for a few years, and I'm perfectly happy with it. That said, I got mine 'for free' from a family friend who left it to me after he died, so I can't comment on the value. I also couldn't comment on the parts as I honestly don't know what he replaced. Handlebars are original, and they're good. Other than that, I couldn't say. Either way, $350 seems like quite the deal to me. Buying used is something this vid failed to include, and used seems like the best way to get value out of your bike. Worth bearing in mind.
burstin I had one too. Looked absolutly awsome. I loved it. It had that old looking tint. A mixture of green and white. Very bright. I just loved it. But it broke after two car crashes. The frame was totally done. But I really never had a flat tire. And tbh I never apreciated it. Now that I got a track bike that's meant for racing I really know what a solid bike I had with my fixie(on my track bike I already had 3 flat tires because I ride in the city and track bikes don't like the combination of speed and a solid sidewalk). It still lies in my garage because I wanna hang it up in my flat when I move out. (17 years old)
I can recommend the Raleigh back alley. The frame has great geometry, very responsive and comfortable. Negatives: The wheels are cheep. Broke 4 spokes in 6 months of pretty easy riding. The flat bar is fine the mtb grips leave much to be desired. Biggest complaint is the lack of stem height. Otherwise great value
I have seen quite a considerable number of Aventons in Argentina. Born in Garage is one of the official distributors, they also build and sell other brands, restore all machines and do maintenance to road and fixed bikes.
I am surprised going single speed doesn't really save you much money Since you can get a good budget bike with 8 in the back for around $500 that will last
@@arne_mh check out bikes direct you can get a sram eagle drivetrain with 2.6 x 27 tires aluminum frame hydraulic discs and a dropper post For 700 ish The mountain bike I used for 7 years the fandom x4 is only 400 right now And you can get a nice bike for under a thousand
I always figured your first fixed gear should be a converted old road frame! However, these are very nice. Others I have tried at the fuji track, Raleigh Rush Hour (old model with better steel frame), and a plain old Fuji Track that was similar to the feather but came with nicer parts. Also if your shop does frame work you can tweak an old road frame nicely; I have an atala that had henry james track ends put on.
If you know what to look out for, look on eBay! I recently bought an Italian, lugged, Columbus steel track bike for £250 including postage. I'm gonna swap a few components out (saddle pedals etc) but like...under £300 - eBay is great!
My Aventon Mataro complete is one hell of bike, I can't even tell one thing I don't like about it. Durable, sexy, rides nice and on top of that its very affordable. But for my riding style I have upgraded Sram s500 Brake levers, which makes the bike even more satisfying.
Got super lucky and picked up an Avetón Córdoba during a Labor Day sale for only $350 which included shipping to Hawaii. No bullshit. I feel like I stole it. The bike is pretty light and tons of fun to ride. Thanks for all the extremely informative, and mildly entertaining programming. Keep doing what you do. The internet is a better place for it.
Zach, I purchased my kilo tt pro because of your in depth reviews. All i can say is that it is a legit bike and has treated me well so far! I have upgraded to a brooks cambium c17, brooks bar tape and 25c thickslick tires. all in all it is a legit ride and well worth the 450usd. After seeing your review of some of the aventon bikes my only option was the kilo tt pro due to my height. I ride a 61cm and there just in not a whole lot out there for the quality and price. Cheers for great info and a great video.
Crew Districts are sometimes on sale at City Grounds, I paid $339 shipped in January. I love mine, feels super solid. I guess if I had to complain, the brakes could be a little better, if you're into that.
i bought a blb london while they were $450 and they still had them in 55cm. GREAT bike on it's own and has been a very good platform for upgrades. Used to have a Cinelli Mash (the original) that i got in an accident with and needed to replace it on a budget and i actually like this bike more, prolly just because steel feels better to me tho.
Eeeey shout out to BLB (brick lane bikes) - it’s my local bike shop! The reason they have such limited numbers is because they are just primarily a bike shop who also make bikes; they’re not a big manufacturer like the other ones you mentioned
I have the Fuji Track. The only ostensible benefits of the feather seem to be aesthetic, which to me weren't worth the $50 more that the shop I got it from wanted.
A little update for Fuji Feather (great bike, I own it). Mini-review: Fuji Feather is very smooth bike, you want it to go quick, its will go quick. You want it to be nimble, its will be nimble. Very good no nonsense street-vintage style bike. Fuji Feather 2018+ now seems to have 2 types of tubing. The one sell in Japan is custom 4130 drawn by Fuji own factory. The other one sell in USA and others will be 4130 Reynold 520 tubing. The difference is probably negligible since both is good 4130 bike frame anyway. However JP version will come equipped with Sugino drivertain and better components. While, outside JP version, will get very generic components.
I have the aventon, i have put together alot of bikes. the aventon cordova..has about everything the higher price bikes do....you just need to replace the drops...and maybe the wheels....if you want some blades, or carbon.....but it is super light as is...if you buy it......you will be really happy.
I would say State bicycle co (you mentioned them in some previous video). And about the aventon in Europe I see them advertised online on Eu webshops in different countries, thus their "official" availability is a bit understated.
I don't know if you have access to that brand in the US, but I recently bought a 369euros bike, the brand is Megamo, and it is the No Name aluminium bike. I wanted your opinion on it but I am quite happy about it and it seems rigid enough.
I got an Aventon about a year ago.I crash a lot and my rims are getting more and more messed up each day. I guess I’ll just replace them with box section rims in the future
I think for everyday use are steel frames (best cromoly, but high ten steel isn't so bad for road use). I buy brand new Jamis Sputnik 2013 for 350$. It's third fixie that I have experience with it and this one is best. But i change handlebar and seat, and stock freewheel suck and stock cog sucks too.
I have the Aventon Córdoba 2017 limited edition polished and it is awesome! The wheels spin really nice but had to take the rear one in to the shop. The spokes were coming lose and punctured the tube because instead of a real rim strip aventon puts a weird plastic strip. Keep in mind that this happened after 5 months and riding daily about 5 miles.
I just got a Tribe Messenger which I like very much with H plus son archetype wheels and sram 100cranks, and riser bars . Its very nimble . Its $675, but they have a Cromo series which is $ 475- $525. It has as 4130 cromoly triple butted steel and sealed bearings with riser bars.
I have the crew. It’s worth it for the frame fork combo alone but for a first time beginner? Nah, the crank is junk, if it were a person it’d be an Olympic gold medalist for gymnastics it’s that got that much flex, and as Zach pointed out if your riding an aluminum frame who wants flex? Otherwise I love it. No complaints at all. Threw my sramms on there and been riding ever since
I have asked you on the other post. I have found this one. It's great. I will looking for a Fuji and see. Thanks. I used to followed you a few years ago when you started with the purple bike. I have been riding in South America countries for many years.
You can buy Aventon frames from Brick Lane Bikes (uk) or Santafixie (spain) pretty cheap at the moment, think the lime frames were 200 quid at start of summer
Crew vs aventon Crew only has one line of bikes limited colors and parts Aventon I find they ride the same but have more options for parts frame Geo and color ways. The company is larger so fixing problems are probably easier. In the end if u can get a new crew for 300 or less get it other wise; spend the extra money grab a aventon.
Why is he against cup and cone hub bearings? I never once had an issue with them, and they are easy to service. With cartridge hub bearings, you need special tools to remove and press them in. As for adjusting the cup and cone bearings, you incrementally tighten the cone until there is no more play. Its not hard; I learned by practicing after a few tries. Also, cup and cone bearings are angular contact, meaning it can take radial and side loads, which radial contact cartridge bearings CANNOT do, meaning cup and cone bearings will last longer between service periods. So in summary, cup and cone are easy to service, economical when replacing the bearings and regreasing, and can take radial as well as side loads. With cartridge bearings, if you dont have the special tools, you're goIng to need to pay a professional to replace your hub bearings every time during the course of the bicycle's lifetime. If anything, the cartridge hub bearings drive up the price of the bicycle, where conventionally, cup and cone hub bearings are found on low priced bicycles.
That's how I started, I turned a regular ten speed into a fixie. It wasn't the best, it was actually really bad, but I got to learn from it and I've improved my skills and knowledge overtime.
Love the video bro. Do a video on wide tires vs skinny tires. Wide tires seem to be getting a lot of good press now and wonder what your thoughts are. Kilo even makes a WT now as well.
There are places to buy Aventon bikes in Europe as well, there's Brick Lane Bikes, TheFixedGearShop to name a couple and a lot of other online shops who don't have brick and mortars but stock them in Europe
I have a crew district. The crank set was junk and the seat is nothing special but otherwise not bad. I tossed the bullhorn bars and put some risers but that’s just personal preference. I also swapped out the wheel set but again just cause I had a better set I’ve always ridden
On the BikesDirect page for the Kilo TT PRO, they state (in bold red letters) - "PLEASE TIGHTEN YOUR LOCKRINGS, CRANKS, PEDALS ETC BEFORE AND AFTER EVERY RIDE" ...WHO does that???????
Hey Zack ! I really enjoy your videos !! Could you do a top three mid to top tier bikes ? I'm considering the Bianchi Pista , Waby Cycles , Mission Bikes. I would appreciate your take on it! Tks !
Jeez, I like your vids Zach but I have to ask, what employee/owner of sbc hurt you? Seems like you’re really hard on them. Their core line popped my fixie cherry & is still one of the smoothest rides ive experienced, especially for the price and from a great company. I’m convinced you have some sort of vendetta against what I would call one of the best single speed bike manufacturers. Other than that informative as always, just wish you’ll get over the anti-sbc campaign.
In the past, Aventon's quality control and customer service were questionable. Kinda mixed reviews. I hear they've improved though. For $100 more, you can find Specialized Langsters which are great bikes with quality components for the money. Wabi's are also quality steel framed bikes, but more like the $600 range?

Brandon Worrell just for the UK?

I just got the Tribe Kong a month ago and it's a great bike imo
Should i use my fuji track pro 2018 aluminum frame every day or no?
How about Quella Bikes? Can they compete with the ones you mentioned?
They do come complete and they was my first one and just to be honest they are really durable bikes but are worth swapping the wheels out for
you can get the aventon completes at LBS in berlin
are the prices better than at Goldsprint? they want ~700 for the cordoba full
I don't know I was thinking of goldsprint when I wrote this but that seems rather high
alright, I'll check them out. for ~500 I'd get one without thinking much but it seems an unrealistic price with European taxation
Be sure to also check out Santa-Fixie and BrickLaneBikes, they're official EU retailers for Aventon.
I can't find any bike selling "lbs" on the internet, whats its spelled out?
What would you guys go for BLB CITY CLASSIC or BLB LONDON LO-PRO?
Nice I'm actually really considering to get a aventon to commute to work every morning
You can buy Aventon frames from Brick Lane Bikes (uk) or Santafixie (spain) pretty cheap at the moment, think the lime frames were 200 quid at start of summer
Mango bikes and Pinnacle Monzonite definitely good options in the Uk and Europe for entry level as well.
I LIVE IN CHILE AND IM GOING FOR THE AVENTON
The Cordoba complete is also available in Germany. I just saw one 2 days ago in a shop.
Finally get aventon for my first bike. That is not bad. Thanks for video recommendation.
Should I get a 2012 fuji festher today?
Yes why not
I was going to order a Kilo TT but I found a Pure Premium for under $200 new. Here's to hoping I didn't make a mistake.
Great video as always, what do you think about the fuji track? It goes for 299 on citygrounds, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.
kurt knauser yeah this one definitely deserves a mention. Even more so than the feather.
anticodo
Good info. But if it’s targeted toward beginners, would all the tech talk go over their heads?
Crew vs aventon
Crew only has one line of bikes limited colors and parts
Aventon I find they ride the same but have more options for parts frame Geo and color ways.
The company is larger so fixing problems are probably easier.
In the end if u can get a new crew for 300 or less get it other wise; spend the extra money grab a aventon.
Mostly expert fixed gear riders in Philippines ride Aventon including me I own 3 Avs (but im not a expert rider yet xD )
Ave parin mga ugok!
Can you make a video about building a fixed gear and whats are the parts you need for it and how to choose a good branded types =) ?
thanks
I’ve ridden many fixed gear bikes personally the pure fixed bikes with high stance ride nice
They sell aventons in my local bike shop. Glad to hear good info on it, thx.
Dope Torres do it!
Himura R. First I need money, lol
Hi Im 170 cm weight 103 kg which size should I like M54 orL58?Thank you so much.
For a begginer on the fixed gear world building a fixied gear for the first time is reccomendable ???
Pd . I have mounted like 10 bikes
Ferrari Wii I would say yea (:
That's how I started, I turned a regular ten speed into a fixie. It wasn't the best, it was actually really bad, but I got to learn from it and I've improved my skills and knowledge overtime.
Love the video bro. Do a video on wide tires vs skinny tires. Wide tires seem to be getting a lot of good press now and wonder what your thoughts are. Kilo even makes a WT now as well.
Track Bike Shop, Copenhagen, Denmark are selling Aventon completes too.
There are places to buy Aventon bikes in Europe as well, there's Brick Lane Bikes, TheFixedGearShop to name a couple and a lot of other online shops who don't have brick and mortars but stock them in Europe
You can get the aventons in the uk from brick lane bikes
any recommendations for a single-speed? is a Throne Tracklord okay to convert to single-speed?
Yesss put it on fixed 👍👍
I have a crew district. The crank set was junk and the seat is nothing special but otherwise not bad. I tossed the bullhorn bars and put some risers but that’s just personal preference. I also swapped out the wheel set but again just cause I had a better set I’ve always ridden
Aventon is a common fixed gear bike here in the PH
On the BikesDirect page for the Kilo TT PRO, they state (in bold red letters) - "PLEASE TIGHTEN YOUR LOCKRINGS, CRANKS, PEDALS ETC BEFORE AND AFTER EVERY RIDE"
...WHO does that???????
I may like Canada overall, but kudos to the US here. Buying a fixie in the US is way better than in Canada. -bikeless in Canada
Which one are you going to buy Zach?
bullwhip johnson he has a bike sooo he’s not going too
I'm fron singapore and there's a really good quality bike called cranston cruz edition which cost 235 to 260 brand new
would be nice to see an updated version, the prices went ridiculous high, Aventon Cordoba 459 dollars is now 700 dollars, dammnit :(
Now make a video on which second bike you should buy
What's up Zach. I liked your video mentioning the Aventon. What are your thoughts on the Aventon bikes vs. 17teeth EVO ?
Can you do a review on a beginner bike of Tsunami SNM 100?
Hey Zack ! I really enjoy your videos !! Could you do a top three mid to top tier bikes ? I'm considering the Bianchi Pista , Waby Cycles , Mission Bikes. I would appreciate your take on it!
Tks !
Thanks for the video suggestion; I'll be sure to cover it in the near future. If those are your options, I'd go with the Wabi.
I'm going to buy my first "serious" bike in a used bicycle store, what should I look for in a commuter?
PLease do a video about dented alluminum frames, and cracked carbon frames
In the past, Aventon's quality control and customer service were questionable. Kinda mixed reviews. I hear they've improved though. For $100 more, you can find Specialized Langsters which are great bikes with quality components for the money. Wabi's are also quality steel framed bikes, but more like the $600 range?
