@@asserm.8047 Um actually, (at least in my circles) a joint is all cannabis while a spliff is a mixture of cannabis and tobacco (or even other plants). Although originally spliff was a Jamaican/West Indies term for what I would call a joint, but Europeans began using the term to mean a mixture. I started smoking spliffs because I went to college with kids who had gone to International (French) High School in San Francisco and picked up the habit from visiting France. The reason spliffs are so common in Europe is because hash is much easier to transport/smuggle than flower and rolling your hash up with some tobacco makes for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience of smoking concentrated THC than smoking it out of a pipe. Bonus: 'sport cig' is what we call a spliff that contains more tobacco than cannabis. I know you didn't ask, but you're welcome.

Large fish, like tuna, have a relatively large amount of mercury in them. Limiting the intake of tuna, and thereby mercury, helps to not expose an unborn child to mercury poisoning. It's just a precautionary measure. Similarly, limiting eating soft cheese, sushi, sprouts, and cold cuts, is to limit exposure to listeria (common food poisoning), salmonella, e. coli, and toxoplasmosis. These, as well as caffeine, may lead to preterm births, low weight births, or, tragically, miscarriages. Alcohol...I can't believe that Ally was so incensed, as to intimate that it is fine to drink alcohol while pregnant. Of all these things, the science is clear on this: alcohol consumption will irrevocably fuck up a child. All those limitations are precautions. Will a negative effect occur everytime? No. But, you wear a seat belt when you get in your car for the same reason: what if?

THC can cause permanent neurodevelopmental damage to young adults let alone the impact it can have on a baby's brain. It can lead to an imbalance in the production of dopamine causing symptoms similar to ADHD (it is technically different because it is not genetic and doesn't involve norepinephrine). THC and other cannabinoids can bond to receptors in the brain and act as SSRIs to an extent. Prolonged exposure to serotonin reuptake inhibition in early childhood and prenatal development is linked with permanent disfunction in the reuptake and production of serotonin leading to sometimes quite extreme deficiency problems more commonly referred to as MDD (Major Depressive Disorder). This is why pregnant women generally cannot take anti-depressants. Also like anti-depressants THC is linked to prenatal serotonin syndrome which can be fatal. I feel like this is enough evidence to discuss why Ally's comments about marijuana are stupid.

I am by no means a medical professional, but tuna was also on the list, which is one type of seafood (too my understanding) that might has high levels of mercury, so it should be limited in people who are pregnant or are trying to become pregnant. (Its a bit more complicated than that because different fish have different average amounts of mercury in them, and fish are a important part of a healthy diet, but too much can be very bad).

Ally is giving great advice if you want your child born with birth defects if they are born at all. Seafood is great for mercury poisonings of the fetus that results in diminished mental capacity. Deli meats are great for bacterial infections which can lead to physical deformities or miscarriage's. Soft cheeses can lead to stillbirths and miscarriage's by a long list of illness with similar symptoms to food poisoning. And don't even get me started on drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and their long long list of birth defects they cause. Just because a man discovered these issues doesn't mean you can disregard them.

I know many women who've been very poorly educated on the subject, and I know many men who have been very well educated. The rest are also pretty bad. Out of all of them, yogurt is the only one that's completely safe and the rest should be avoided in general. Alchohol, caffein, and other mind altering drugs can heavily affect the childs development, things like sprouts, sushi, and unheated deli meat can contain bacteria and other contaminats that is easily handled by an adult bodie can be dangerous to a developing fetus who's relying completely on the immunity system of the parent as it has yet to fully develop its own. Matters over everyday medicine should always be taken up with a medical proffessional, and over-the-counter stuff like adderall and paracetamol should be avoided. If there is any doubt even for a moment over anything, contact a local MD as it's better to ask and be right, than risk it and be wrong.

It's a schedule 2 controlled substance in the US and completely illegal for possession or sale without a license or prescription (the second of which you cannot distribute with). But yeah, everything else mentioned is dangerous except for yogurt. @@Rodoet001 The yogurt is not so cut and dry since not all places have the same requirements in pasteurization processes, for example in some parts of my country you can buy non-pasteurized yogurt while in other parts law requires every dairy product to be "ultra-pasteurized" (that means that the milk has been through the pasteurization process 4 times) and other places just super-pasteurized (pasteurized 2 times) which is what is recommended here for pregnant people, super or higher. This will vary from country to country.

I don't think the point is that you should smoke heavily while pregnant, but rather that small amounts of any of those things is very unlikely to have an impact on the baby. Like you shouldn't go out binge drinking, but a lot of doctors now say it's fine to have like, a glass of wine with dinner.

Tuna = high enough consumption could lead to mercury poisoning though would have to be a lot, but much less so for developing baby. Alcohol is a drug but it is IN foods wine, beer, etc and can cause fetus alcohol syndrome. Caffeine is not encouraged but you can lightly drink it, but really shouldn't as the baby is getting it and can lead to issues developing. Sprouts as Trap said have issues with dangerous bacteria. Sushi has issues with parasites. Unheated deli meat and soft cheeses though it is rare can be contaminated with Listeria and you most likely will lose the baby.
Um, actually, while it is correct that Tonks' patronus changed based on her love for Remus Lupin, It was not, as Gutz implied at the end, a result of her marriage. Her patronus changed before that, when she had expressed her love for Lupin, and he rejected her because he thought he was too old and wolfy for her. It is also stated that a patronus does not change based on love, but because the character has had an emotional shock of some sort.

Also actually Draco's patronus isn't known. The spell isn't regularly taught at Hogwarts so while the animal isn't revealed, it isn't because he is inherently unable to cast the spell he just wasn't taught

Sushi has issues with parasites. Unheated deli meat and soft cheeses, though it is rare, can be contaminated with Listeria and you most likely will lose the baby.

Although originally spliff was a Jamaican/West Indies term for what I would call a joint, but Europeans began using the term to mean a mixture. I started smoking spliffs because I went to college with kids who had gone to International (French) High School in San Francisco and picked up the habit from visiting France. The reason spliffs are so common in Europe is because hash is much easier to transport/smuggle than flower and rolling your hash up with some tobacco makes for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience of smoking concentrated THC than smoking it out of a pipe. THC and other cannabinoids can bond to receptors in the brain and act as SSRIs to an extent. Prolonged exposure to serotonin reuptake inhibition in early childhood and prenatal development is linked with permanent disfunction in the reuptake and production of serotonin leading to sometimes quite extreme deficiency problems more commonly referred to as MDD (Major Depressive Disorder). I feel like this is enough evidence to discuss why Ally's comments about marijuana are stupid.

Ally is giving great advice if you want your child born with birth defects if they are born at all. Seafood is great for mercury poisonings of the fetus that results in diminished mental capacity. Deli meats are great for bacterial infections which can lead to physical deformities or miscarriage's. Soft cheeses can lead to stillbirths and miscarriage's by a long list of illness with similar symptoms to food poisoning. And don't even get me started on drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and their long long list of birth defects they cause.

I know many women who've been very poorly educated on the subject, and I know many men who have been very well educated. Matters over everyday medicine should always be taken up with a medical proffessional, and over-the-counter stuff like adderall and paracetamol should be avoided. If there is any doubt even for a moment over anything, contact a local MD as it's better to ask and be right, than risk it and be wrong.

It's a schedule 2 controlled substance in the US and completely illegal for possession or sale without a license or prescription (the second of which you cannot distribute with). @@Rodoet001 The yogurt is not so cut and dry since not all places have the same requirements in pasteurization processes, for example in some parts of my country you can buy non-pasteurized yogurt while in other parts law requires every dairy product to be "ultra-pasteurized" (that means that the milk has been through the pasteurization process 4 times) and other places just super-pasteurized (pasteurized 2 times) which is what is recommended here for pregnant people, super or higher. This will vary from country to country.

Yeah hats off to Trapp for keeping it civil while heavily implying that Ally spouted complete bullshit there. Like I have no problem with Ally or their girlfriend giving their child ID or FASD because of drug and alcohol abuse during pregnancy but telling that to "patients" under the guise of being a "medical professional" should hold some real consequences for when that "advice" leads to parents fucking up the safety and future of their child. Where I live it is a legal requirement that liquor stores have large and visible signage about not drinking while pregnant as well as that it needs to be listed on the packaging and container that the "Surgeon General" recommends against the consumption of alcohol during pregnancy due to the otherwise easily avoidable risks.

um actually, Ally said that you shouldn't limit any of those FOODS. alcohol is a drug, the definition of which precludes food, and is a beverage to boot!
Tuna = high enough consumption could lead to mercury poisoning though would have to be a lot, but much less so for developing baby. Alcohol is a drug but it is IN foods wine, beer, etc and can cause fetus alcohol syndrome. Caffeine is not encouraged but you can lightly drink it, but really shouldn't as the baby is getting it and can lead to issues developing. Sprouts as Trap said have issues with dangerous bacteria. Sushi has issues with parasites. Unheated deli meat and soft cheeses though it is rare can be contaminated with Listeria and you most likely will lose the baby.

Um, actually, while it is correct that Tonks' patronus changed based on her love for Remus Lupin, It was not, as Gutz implied at the end, a result of her marriage. Her patronus changed before that, when she had expressed her love for Lupin, and he rejected her because he thought he was too old and wolfy for her. It is also stated that a patronus does not change based on love, but because the character has had an emotional shock of some sort.
Now that, I think was a joke.

A lot of snake oil salesmen in the US preying on people because of the disappointing mix of healthcare by medical professionals being a rip off because of private insurance and hospitals being run like a corporation and hyper fixation on being the perfect parent (particularly mothers)
In the US midwives and doulas are not well regulated. States vary wildly on the education of midwives and doulas require even less.
And to be honest if you were going to listen to ally over your doctor then you were going to listen to every Facebook quack that came across your feed too.

Um actually, Tonk’s patronus doesn’t change because she’s married to Lupin. It changes because Lupin turns her away and in her despair/pining her patronus shifts form to a wolf. Trade one icky theme for another- but that’s why.

Also actually Draco's patronus isn't known. The spell isn't regularly taught at Hogwarts so while the animal isn't revealed, it isn't because he is inherently unable to cast the spell he just wasn't taught

What he said was correct in that Clarke and Kubrick collaborated which resulted in the book/ film combo but it's also true that 2001 was based on/ inspired by an Arthur C Clarke short story called "The Sentinel" which was were I thought the mistake in the question was going.

I actually really loved this episode! It was great. Everyone on was awesome and had good energy with each other. And Ally's weird stoned-at-5am energy was coming through real nice too; you guys got some big laughs out of me.

Have to say I really lost a lot of respect for Ally at the end there. These guidelines for pregnant women are based on medical science, and breaking them can have devastating results for the baby. Technically this cannot be proven. The audience was never given Snapes original protronus and, as Snape met Lily before ever casting a protronus charm, it's most likely that the corporeal form has always (wink) been a Doe.
The proof to dumbledore was that he still loved Lily (as creepy as it was) after all that time (~20 years I think).
