I've come to this video from the tumbled rock video RUclips recommended to me (from Jan 2020). I've just started rockhounding here on Australian beaches, there's lots of pretty bright red and yellow jasper at my local beach, plus a whole bunch of interesting rocks. If shipping weren't so expensive, I'd organise a rock swap once I get a chance to tumble and/or polish the rocks I've found. I don't think I've found any agates so far, but the other day I found a chunk of what I think was somebody's old granite counter top :D
You guys are so wonderfully spoiled. Over here in N Idaho we have zero agates. None. Zip. Of course we DO have other neat things, awesome fly fishing rivers, nice mountains and forests, etc, but I love watching you find neat rocks.
Hey Alex, thanks for taking us along on in-between high-water outing. And I agree, being out soaking in the beautiful weather and scenery is half of the enjoyment and fun!
I love the sounds of the frogs! I can’t get enough of them. That alone would make up for the slimmer than usual pickings in my book. What a beautiful day!
That's some awesome agates, petrified wood and jaspers all the perfect size for the rock tumbler. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.
No bad days out in nature. Everything is looking so lush and beautiful right now. That baby blue jasper was real pretty and tge agate finds you made were pretty dang nice. Great vid!
I was wondering how things would look after the flood! Some pretty nice finds there, and what a great way to spend some family time. Thanks for taking us along!
Fun hunt. Game of the ladies to join you. I know your life is busy so thank you for getting out there. I sometimes put small rocks in the silverware basket in the dishwasher and leave them for several cycles.😀
What a lovely day to be out with the family! some really cool agates something about the clear ones that I really like there just beautiful, the jasper are going to polish up real nice my all time favourites. Thanks for sharing👍
Those brecciated jaspers with the clear agate are really cool. We have then down here in Texas as well in several colors. I used to just pass them by, but after a few cuts and polishes to see the inner beauty and now I grab every one I see. Love that first banded agate too. Not a bad hunt overall considering most of the Yellowstone gravel is underwater.
It’s awesome to me how different the stuff in Montana is. I watch you and Theo both, and while you can see the similarities you can also clearly see how different the material is from each other. Seems like such a special place. I’ll make it out there one day. Thanks for the video bud.
Nature hikes are great as healthy activities. Fresh air, relaxing for stress and BP. The icing on the cake is the beautiful rocks. Do you know what minerals cause different colors in the rocks? Love learning new things.
I think they are awesome finds! I know once the flood waters recede, there will be some awesome finds galore for everybody! But compared to us in Oregon, who just got our first warm dry day a couple days ago, your finds were amazing! I love yellowstone river pet woods! They are even better then the agates! So awesome day with your beautiful family, and of course Kip! Thank you for sharing!
Great to see you and your family get time to go to the river. I love the gray-blue pet woods! Those two yellow jaspers were beautiful and of course the agates are always awesome. Thanks for sharing your trip and finds with us!✌️🤠
Hey, enjoy the channel. Love Montana, I live in California and wish I could get there more, very beautiful state. Was last there in 2015 in Fort Benton on a genealogical trip. Fairly new to actual rockhounding and just got back from Arizona with some rainbow petrified wood. Again, thanks, enjoy your content. If you would like a piece of the rainbow pet wood let me know and I'll send you one
Hello Alex . Good to see you out hunting. Always like the different rocks you find especially petrified wood as I find a very large amount where I live in Australia . Keep it up mate.
I love watching your videos!! I had a question though. I know that agate is a type of chalcedony but is there a difference between agate and chalcedony? I’ve heard that if it has bands it’s agate and if it doesn’t it’s chalcedony. Just looking for some professional expertise! Thanks!
Hi, as to your question - Chalcedony is a broader mineral category that includes agate, jasper, and chert. All have the same microcrystaline structure, but different cosmetic properties and appearances.
* Wish you would get one of those Battery operated Spray bottles.. Honestly, Having had Carpal Tunnel Surgery, I can tell you ~ Your hand does Not work the same.. And, it is Painful as it deteriorates.. Please, do yourself a favor & get a bottle you don't have to squeeze repeatedly.... IF you grow old, you will appreciate working hands..
I'm so glad I watched your video.... you found some very good agates and you're outside and it makes me happy
Oh what beautiful gemstones . This is the silver lining of the flooding.
I would be so thrilled to find all those pieces of petrified wood. Thanks for sharing.
It was great to see everyone. Loved the yellow jasper with agate inclusions.
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Family time in Nature…priceless!!!! for me all are precious treasures from a beautiful place! Love the last a jasper!

My favorites were the first agate and the beautiful yellow jasper! I think you did well!
Nice video.
Lovely day out with the family. Pretty finds.
So glad you made it through the Yellowstone flood. Looks as though summer is going to be good pickens!
2 weeks ago, I didn't see one visible rock on the river, haha. Glad the water lever went back down!

Hi,
Brother..
Very happy to see your passion. As we have big river next to our home and do collect many stones too.
I love the sounds of the frogs! I can’t get enough of them. That alone would make up for the slimmer than usual pickings in my book. What a beautiful day!
Many not have been a lot or big ones but what you did find was all awesome. Just being out there as a family is worth it. Memories.

Happy to see you out and about. The rocks are awesome. I have never seen a light blue Jasper. That was great.
Oh my goodness Alex it’s good to see you and the family out again and it’s beautiful weather and I know you’re gonna find some really super fines
I would have expected there would be a lot more agates because of the flooding. Nice finds anyway. Thanks so much for sharing another fun adventure.
Found a few new spots since the flooding made so much inaccessible. I need new ones in MT though lol

Good to know that the water level has dropped on the Yellowstone river.

Happy you and your family had such a nice outing. My favorite was that first piece of petrified wood. The colors were so rich. God bless.

Thanks for watching! We are lucky to live in an incredible state for rock hunting.
I'm a jasper fan. But, those agates are so pretty.
Alex, some nice finds from that hunt. Like you I’m a fan of Jasper and watching you find some of those pieces is just great.
Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Appreciate it. Take care!

I thought this would happen after the flooding.
