AuthorCraft it certainly has its problems for sure, especially in Volumes 4-5, but I still love it with all my heart for its amazing fights, great characters, nice lessons, and phenomenal music so please watch the Red, White, Black and Yellow trailers and up to Volume 1 Chapter 9 to make your opinion on it
I really can't recommend it enough! You might not enjoy it since it's not for everyone, but you also might fall in love with it like I did. It's always worth a try! Start with the Red Trailer. It'll blow your mind.
@Anton Hodge That's arguable, actually. People have differing opinions about it. I for example think Volume 1 isn't that good, with a weird structure, odd pacing and some terrible character development (though some of the character development there is amazing), and that Volumes 4 onwards are still great. Monty was amazing at many things, but he was a flawed storyteller. With his passing, RWBY shifted its focus towards slower, more character-focused scenes. I'll honestly argue that a lot of the character development is actually better now. So yeah. Better let them form their own opinion, since things aren't clear-cut in the slightest.

As it was in the beginning of the AMV, Ruby lines up with “harder.” She’s a young team leader but even more than that-she’s a silver eyed warrior, it is more than her job is to protect the people, she was *born* with the ability to defend those she loves. And she’s had to work so hard to do so. She couldn’t save Pyrrha and she couldn’t save Penny, but she’s worked harder since then, and now she’s a protector. Blake lines up with “better.” All her life she’s run from things, but with the help of her friends and her team she’s learned to not run away, to be better than her past actions which seem to always haunt her. Yang lines up with “faster.” I saw a couple other comments point out that Yang is the one who needed to be faster. At Beacon she failed to save Blake and herself from Adam because she was too slow. She was always so strong and stubborn, but she was never fast enough physically or fast enough to find her opponent’s weakness. She always relied on brute force. But she learned to be faster and when Blake and Yang fight Adam the final time he asks her if she is faster than she was at Beacon. She doesn’t answer. She’s figuring him out. She catches his blade because she was not only faster physically, but she learned that it is faster to learn your opponent’s weakness than to charge without observation. Weiss lines up with “stronger.” Weiss has always been a very strong character. While she might have seemed entitled and quick-tempered in the start, she was an abused child trying to brake away from her father. She was terrified of standing up to him but by volume 7 she tells him *to his face* she knows exactly the kind of man he is and straight up *arrests him* for his crimes. She has suffered so much and it was not an easy road, but she’s taken her suffering and turned it into strength. She doesn’t need someone to save her from her father because she’s strong enough to be more than her family name.

i saw this amv at a daft punk tribute concert last year it made me fall in love with the series all over again back when i watched and was disipointed vol 9 im gald this video helped me get though that rough point in my life

Her team is overloaded with melee to begin with, whereas Weiss' strength is versatility. As she matures, and progresses, she learns to let go of her I'll-do-it-myself pride and flow into the role her team needs. Character development!
I know im late as hell but, :28/29 seconds in, that added base just hits so much harder especially with the scene. I didn't even notice it at first until I realized something was different with the song.

I'll admit I was on the fence about mixing Daft Punk w/ RWBY, but damn if you didn't nail it with the scene choices and cuts. That was fantastic! And I'm sure they all feel that line "Our work is never over" many times over during their lives.
The AceOps: Harder- Vine. He is very big on Self-Improvement and hard work. Better- Clover. He is pretty much Qrow, except a bit younger, with a more positive outlook on life, and a more useful Semblance. Faster- Harriet. She is the Speedster of the Group. Stronger- Elm. This Woman has able to lift a MAMMOTH!!! I don't think there is anybody with more physical Strength.

Let's put the Speedsters in a Room, then the two Couples, and Pair up Weiss with whoever is left. Imagine how interesting a fight between Yang and Hare could have been. I'll admit I was on the fence about mixing Daft Punk w/ RWBY, but damn if you didn't nail it with the scene choices and cuts. That was fantastic! And I'm sure they all feel that line "Our work is never over" many times over during their lives.

Yeah, they should NOT have won that easily. If Adam was able to basically cut through Yangs Aura with brute Force, I don't see how Yang could have survived against Elm.
Their Team ups were generally kinda boring.
Let's put the Speedsters in a Room, then the two Couples, and Pair up Weiss with whoever is left.
Imagine how interesting a fight between Yang and Hare could have been.
Super-Strength is useless if you can't actually land a hit.
