So there are some differences I've seen in the ROM and EXE versions 1. The ROM doesn't have as much jumpscares at the end but the EXE version does 2. The ROM is a little scarier since you're playing a rom hack as apposed to an EXE game But tbh, the whole premise of this is kinda scary when you think about it. And I know the creator of the creepypasta, Slimebeast, said in the creepypasta that it was originally a ROM and NOT a haunted game or something.
Although the version. SFC is better achieved and is objectively better, I still prefer the version. EXE, that is to say, I will not deny that that final battle with the life bars in the style of Megaman is epic, but the fact that when killing Luigi Mario he just stood there takes away the emotional weight that the version had. EXE when seeing Mario crying disconsolately for his brother on the edge of the bridge, besides, the burned Luigi sprite looks much better than in the .SFC version, really, how the hell could a version of at least 5 years ago achieve a more detailed sprite than the version. SFC that is supposed to be more current?, but well, it's just an opinion and they may or may not agree with me, good day.
I always wish I Hate You.exe deserves a PC remake, not an actual Rom Hack since the second one is better. The Original version was just an attempt by Theohmguy, since it had Jumpscares and a Lazy Boss Fight. No offense or not to judge about the first last sequence, but the first one had some flaws when it comes to making games on an old engine for PC. I think the Remake version will be based on a Rom Hack, if people are going to decide to do more research and high quality to make a PC Port after the first game debuted before the ROM Hack.
I think I prefer the SFC version better. Doesn't do those cheap-ass jumpscares, a Mega Man X-esque fight that I'm actually SHOCKED was done entirely in the Mario World engine, and just better overall.

imagine if in the future someone were to take the entire game of super mario world and put the creepypasta rom as something that has a chance of happening, and insert it into a cartridge. it would take a long time but it would be something very immersive and interesting

yes its a more recent version but you gotta keep on mind that is a snes rom, and not a pc game
