Technically you don't need to compile it, but if you don't then you need to use the Asm( token every time you want to run the program. @@TheLastMillennial It's a syntax error on Cesium w/o compiling; with it, it goes back to Cesium with the inverted screen. And compiling makes the program run much faster? does it use less tokens?

When you run the compiled source, it's properly inverting the colors because that's how this 'dark theme' works. Haha thanks! Maybe some day...
@@TheLastMillennial you deserve it.
also, do you know how to keep dark mode on even after you turn the calculator off?
P.S. I did it and my eyes already thanked me
Unfortunately, TI removed the ability to run programs at startup when they made the CE. :(
is there a way to disable to backlight entirely?
Not that I know of. What would you use that for?
@@TheLastMillennial backlight is too bright at night even with dark mode. Sometimes i end up with a headache cuz my screen itself is plenty
You cant turn it off completely (you wouldn't be able to see anything), but you can reduce the minimum brightness significantly: ruclips.net/video/OP-iT5nP7D0/видео.html
My ASM84CEPrgm button is crossed out with a blue line, and I cannot select it. Can someone help? Thanks. I really want the dark mode!!
I have iOS 5.4
TI broke the way to do this on-calculator, so I compiled the program ( 1drv.ms/u/s!Al_ZukYl7XyyyXb7H_ply6p0e7yZ ) and you'll need to send it to the calculator with either TI-Connect CE or ticalc.link
I tried this, TICALC won’t let me send and TI connect says a token is expired.
@@TheLastMillennial is there a way to renew the token?
I don't maintain ticalc.link so I'd recommend posting an issue on the github github.com/Timendus/ticalc.link/issues
it keeps on saying error for me idk why
(my os is 5.3.0
Is there a way to have it turn on automatically?
Unfortunately no. TI removed that ability on the TI-84 Plus CE
Press "sto" while holding "on" buttons it turns on
@@evrendemirkaya8358 That only works if you have Cesium installed.
are there other collors maybe
Nope, I don't know how to explain it in layman's terms, but changing the colors is a whole different ball game than just inverting them.
How that code translates into asm?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but here's the disassembly:
ld hl,$F80818
ld (hl),h
ld (hl),$44
ld (hl),$21
ld l,h
ld (hl),$01

@@TheLastMillennial that's exactly what I was asking! thanks!
My asm84ceprogram is crossed out any help?
Did you follow the instructions at 0:23? What OS do you have?
@@TheLastMillennial nvermind i did the wrong instructions
can you make the text green? I just want programming to feel normal
Haha, not with the built-in editor. There's a editor called KryptonIDE that's currently in beta, but it will let you change the colors and has a ton of other useful features for programming on-calc. Be warned it's a bit bugy so always make backups of your files: www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=264730
Dark mode wont turn on whenever i press [on] and [sto→] and short cut is on
Do you have a Python Edition? If so, it's a known issue dark mode does not work on it.
@@TheLastMillennial :(
The issue should be resolved now. Are you still having issues with the shortcut?
@@TheLastMillennial @TheLastMillennial Yes. I updated it the day i wrote that comment and it still doesn't work
@@csicee My bad, I didn't realize what video this was because youtube studio is kinda terrible for replying to comments. The on sto-> shortcut only works if you have Cesium installed and have 'enable keypad shortcuts' turned on. The code in this video is outdated and only works on non-python editions. You can download Cesium from the link in the pinned comment
On+Sto enables dark mode
On+ln disables dark mode
No program needed (maybe because of firmware update, mine is 5.6.1)
That's a feature of the app Cesium, not OS 5.6.1.
Is there a way to do this with the nspire cx cas?
Not that I know of, at least not without the Ndless jailbreak. You can see if you find anything on tiplanet.org about it.
@@TheLastMillennial Tried with themeEditor but not having any luck if you ever get the chance to make a tutorial on it I'll check it out for sure. Hate the black text with a white backround it so stupid.
this is a bloody calculator why does it have a dark mode
Well, it doesn't have it natively. It took a clever programmer to figure out how to invert the colors.
didnt work for me, it just kept repeating Done every time i hit enter
Could you please tell me what your Base code is by pressing [mode]>[alpha]>[ln]? It's possible your OS is too outdated for this to work. I recommend OS 5.3.0 which you can find here: ti-pla.net/a1138252 Be sure to NOT update to OS 5.6.0 because you will break compatibility with this trick.
@@TheLastMillennial base code is 5.3.0. does it help that I'm doing this on CEmu
Oh you're using CEmu? Yes, that's definitely the issue. This works on a physical calculator but not CEmu. Unfortunately, I don't know why.
It doesnt works on SO 5.6.1 help
Good news, if you install the latest version of Cesium and enable 'keypad shortcuts'. You can press [on]+[sto->] to enable dark mode! www.cemetech.net/downloads/files/1372/x2292

What kind of error? Exactly which calculator do you have?
TheLastMillennial
I have the TI-84 plus CE and the version is 5.01.0012. When I press 2nd and then zero and go to Asm( then program and then dark I hit enter and it just keeps saying done every time I hit enter.
If I just hit program then dark and then enter it says.... ERROR: SYNTAX and then only gives me the option to quit
@@laurenhorvath5716 OK first of all I suggest updating to OS 5.3.0 if you can: ti-pla.net/a1138252
It sounds like you've typed in the code wrong. Try re-typing it in and see if it works.
TheLastMillennial I tried to retype it twice and it hasn’t worked and I can only seem to find updates for 5.6
Just use the link I provided to update. That's odd, the code may be incompatible with such an old OS.
it crashed :(
Try again, it's likely you just mistyped in something. I speak awfully fast in this video so slowing it down may help.
