I hasd the pleasure of meeting Dean a couple of times. He was such a nice person. I met him at Carmine's restaurant on Santa Monica Blve. in Century City , Los Angeles. It was by accident. When I saw him at a table across from the bar I just got up and went straight to his table thinking I would be greeted nicely. I was not disappointed. He is the nicest man I have ever met and he spent a lot of time talking to me. I also introduced him to my family and he was so nice to them . This was just around the time he lost his son in the airplane crash. He was very depressed. I met him several times after that and we became friends. I miss him and will never forget him. I grew up listening to his music and watching his movies. IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE JUST TO HAVE MET HIM.. Thanks Deano for being so nice to me...I will never forget you! RIP

I don't know if Marty or Dean ever met or knew each other ,but they definitely knew of each other.Deano started doing westerns about the same time Marty started doing western songs.I think there was a mutual admiration between them.Marty took Dean's "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)" to the country top 10 in 1975,and then "Return To Me" all the way to #1 in 1977.Two beloved, irreplaceable american originals. When I get to heaven I have this fantasy of hearing both these guys dueting on "Return To Me"(and me joining in!)! Rest in peace guys, see you later..............
@@kathleenoreilly5201 i sure miss those days of Dean singing and his celebrity roasts especially Foster Brooks.I still watch them.Dean went downhill after he lost his son in a plane crash,he was in the Air Force
Dean died 1995, Jeannie died 2016. This was the time he and Jeannie were going through a divorce which later he regretted and Dean and Jeanie got back together in the 1980s
A man needs to have felt, to have lost, to have hurt, to have wept and to have realised that everything he is and was, is down to his wife to be able to sing like this. This is not just raw talent, this is all that life is in song. He was incredible.
I can't help he is thinking about Jeanne even thou they wasn't together at this time I think. But this would of been a song for her at the end of his life. Just read a People Magazine article I read today. Must of been shortly after his death. It cover his show business life, his death. They talked to Jeanne, she was with him at the end just like Jeanne and Dean was with his mother a few years earlier both of them die on Christmas morning. His mom was about 3:15 and Dean about 3:30. So I can't help thinking this song ended summing up what kind of a wife and a friend Jeanne was to Dean.
When I looked into Dean Martin songs, I was captivated by how many songs of his were so outstanding. Then came the point I believed and believe today that he sang the best love songs in the world and all time.
@@sherrystewart7702 Someone else that saw that lol...cant stand his singing. FS would have been nothing without mob backing. This guy.....Deano could sing calmness into a hurricane. And he developed that crooning effect by himself.

Not only are there no singers like this today. The music itself is just not there. Music today doesn't talk about the love and support between a man and woman but about the physical taking. So shallow.
You've got that right! The great talents are gone, probably never to be replaced unless they start making music somewhere along the way instead of screaming noise with an incessant beat!
Evelyn De Rose Michael Buble is OK and I’m sure he does his best, but for many of us he will simply never have even half the talent and class of Dean, Frank, Sammy, Perry and all the other REAL stars of the ‘Golden Age’ of music.
I think this was a hard song for Dean to sing, given the grief he gave Jeannie. Afterall, she took on all of Dean's kids from his previous wife and raised them. She was a saint. It just took Dean a long time to figure that out. You could feel Dean's pain, and a little struggle to get through it, and he didn't smile like he usually does after a song. This was quite personal.
He cheated on his first wife with Jeannie. She just got a taste of what she put another woman through. I've read every biography on Dean. Jeannie had cooks, housekeepers, chauffeurs, all the money she could possibly spend. Not a bad life. And you reap what you sow.
Once again Dean demonstrates his singing chops which were considerable. When assessing a talent, Dean is the only one that brings a smile to your face immediately. Greatest overall entertainer of the 20th Century.
