Friedkin is possibly the most underrated filmmaker of all-time. He deserves his spot amongst the greatest of greats
To be fair, he is often listed next to Stanley Kubrick and Sidney Lumet as a leading figure and / or director in the Hollywood Renaissance Era of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
The “problem” with William Friedkin was you can argue the public lost interest in him after “To Live and Die in L.A.” The films he made right before and after “To Live and Die in L.A” did not go over as well commercially or critically, especially with Steven Spielberg’s career skyrocketing.
I am not saying they were bad movies, at all, but Friedkin faded into the background later in his career because the reception was nowhere near as great as his first films, whether you judge the reception by revenue or reviews.
I could've listened to this guy tell stories all day.
its always a pleasure to listen to what friedkin says.
Maybe I'm as crazy as Friedkin, but after several viewings, I think Killer Joe is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen! It may even be my favorite Friedkin movie at this point!
Oh, it's absolutely hilarious. One of my favourite black comedies, truly.
The chicken bone scene is the best scene ever.
Sorcerer would like to have a word!
Great interview. Really enjoy listening to Bill Friedkin, wonderful speaker, always fascinating. Thanks!
Isn't he? It's not just what he says, it's the remanence of his Chicago accent. It gives everthing he says a sort of 'street wise' sensibility.
Mark dies inside at 4:38, lol. Friedkin never holds back!
It was a pleasure to listen to this great guy.
"Well, because I'm completely crazy." It takes a big man to admit he doesn't play with a full deck.
Agreed. Friedkin's a very captivating speaker, great character. I also like the way he says 'Mr. Hitchcaahk'.
This should be titled William Friedkin on Hitchcock.
Fascinating, thank you.
Intelligent and good talking man
Takes a genius to do what he did.
He is a powerful mind, as a fellow yid i am repulsed by it, but it is one of the pantheon of perfect films.
He's good, hes powerful.
What a rock star
Thanks.
Just watched it and it was not like movies today. I didn't turn it off and that's rare these days. Zero anxiety and entertaining.
He knew a detective who was a hit man? Slightly worrying.
Thats Life Baby Boy
He knew a mafia boss who owned the gay bars he filmed Cruising in.
the real shit starts at 5:36
Everything you need to know about Directing
8:42 Norman Lloyd died only 2 months ago.

Killer Joe is messed up. Specifically the ended. I wasn't gone on the film. Juno Temple's American accent is very good.
😂

I need to find if he is aries. He is so direct.
It doesn’t matter, because astrology is nonsense.

Uncle Mort!
This guy is a fool.
Which one? Because neither are.
William Friedkin, killer Joe is the worst movie you made
*best
I didn't like it very much. The only reason I watched it was because Friedkin directed it. But I was disappointed.
@@elpulpo800 Personally, I loved it. I just loved how raw and fucked up the characters were. But it's definitely not a movie for everybody.
Someone hasn’t seen “Jade.”
Name the films you have made then
