I'm about to start my first try in WFRP after having the book for few years, and your videos are really helpful to get into the system faster.

Wish you explained how to play a wizard. Learning spells, casting and lvling up. How the school of magic works and how to implement it into a session. All the rules and mechanics to use around it. Ppl rarely talk about it.

Greetings from Canada. I really like this RPG. It is probably my best. Playing on Foundry VTT it is just amazing. I like the different winds of magic and spells, and I wish they add more spells in the future. Great video

A-ther. Thanks for the video, I'm trying to get into the system also and its so much to read and not all of it clicks right away so its helpful to have someone else talk about it also.

Thanks again. Magic is much easier to use in this system than I figured it would be.

Fearing someone who's head might explode is , in general, seen as a good idea.

There a few elements about this I actually don't like on a systematic level.
Firstly, Arcane magic as a set of spells available to any wizard kind of run counter the ides of the different lores. Imho (almost) every caster should only have access to a rather limited and focused range of effects, depending on their lore. So application of a certain lore for specific purposes should require a bit of creativity.
Secondly this system totally foregoes WHFBs ambient pools of magical energy (current local strength of the winds, heavily randomized) everyone draws from and the tabletop games risk/reward system. There the chance of succeeding depends on how much energy you draw (totally up to you, but more powerful spells ofc require more for a reasonable chance of success) but more energy used also means a higher chance for a loss of control.
Maybe something where spell and energy drawn determine the difficulty of the involved test, with energy also determining chance for a loss of control? (like units die equal or below energy-> miscast or total rolled below energy*3 or something?) Anyway, the energy should be drawn from the winds, depleting them, so that everyone in the same general area basically spends from the same mana pool.

Hi there and thank you for useful information. Found some flaws in my understanding. One thing though. I am using 2nd edition and you say "In order to cast a spell you need to make a magic language test". Is that a 1st edition rule? Can't see it in 2nd ed.

I have a question, if I cast bolt spell on living creature(beastmen) from common arcane, if I am from Jade College, so I make damage to him and also help them to put away bleeding condition and fatigue?

      Isn't it Aethyr, pronounced Eethyr?

Lorewise the reason humans cannot learn high magic as it is called beacuse humans are so more corruptible by magic (fire wizards gets a burning head, life wizards start growing roots in their beards and so on) and when the elves tested them they either were not able to learn new lores or they did not live long enough for the elves to teach them more then one lore.

I think the maximum age is an important point. Eles DO age in Warhammer, but their lifetime can be measrued in millenia. Elven mages master one lore at a time, focusing solely on their current one. Once they're through with all winds they begin to study high magic (unless they become a dragon mage or loremaster, which is a different story). Considering how many decades elves tend to put in perfecting a single thing, this process takes multiple human lifetimes. So no wonder humans are not able to do it.

I was kind of hopping/skipping through this video becouse I'm mostly familiar with everything on it, so I hope you didn't talk about this..😅 But, what I was looking for, was the information about learning the chaos spells and the exp cost and the system around that.. I know how the petty and arcane spell exp cost works but I for some reason haven't been able to find anything about chaos spell learning exp costs.. o,o Can you help me with this a lil maby? o,o
