@@Bellabombay mixed culture of two species chlorophyceae, for pigments exploration. I hope your research going well.. and you always healthy, Sist. It’s definitely a commitment! And most science programs can offer some type of aid since there’s so many teaching labs that need TAs, not to mention all these major companies sponsoring you!
Thanks! I was filming on my phone and I just didn’t want to keep grabbing my phone with them so I just used ethanol throughout. And that’s just normal contamination like you would get from leaving dishes in the sink!
Most schools now don’t rely so much on GRE, so focus on connections/recommendation letters, and coursework & GPA. And always apply as early as you can, don’t wait until after the holidays.
I work with algae so it’s basically like working outside anyway, my lab is only safety level 1, so nothing toxic. I wear them when I work with HCL or something like that or doing molecular work.
This is the RUclips content we need! Education..but interesting and entertaining AT THE SAME TIME! 🔥
Thank you!!
Love seeing a black female PhD in biology. Keep the vids coming, when you can ;).
Thank you! I know I’m struggling to be consistent :(
I was excited to see her❤😊
Yaaassss
As a student in Biology, I could recognize the technics that you used ! It's so cool to see them in application ! Thanks a lot for the share !
You welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Yess sis you better slay that lab lol you've really inspired me! I'm currently applying for biology masters programs!!
Thank you! You got this! Also, feel free to DM me if you have any questions!
🔥🔥🔥 please make this a series. Science 🔬 is fye!
It really is!
Well done, I learnt a lot. Thanks for sharing your lab experience.
Thank you! You welcome!
Sisssss! You're a legit future hero! Awe man I'm so impressed 👏
Thank you! 🤗🤗

Great video, sassy, teachable, and authentic!
Thank you so much!
I watched the whole thing…loved the music…editing and whatever you growing in there!! Keep it up!!!
Thank you for the support!
Excelent video! Kudos on the research!
Thank you!
Thank you very nice video. I am thinking about getting a PhD in Biology. Thinking about it. Thank you for your video.
You welcome! I hope I helped!
Instead of Bill Nye it’s BellaBombay da science gyal 🇧🇸 😂😂😂
I like the sound of that! 😂😂
Thank you so much for making this video!
Thank you for watching!
this was really helpful, thank you!!!
You welcome!
I loveddddd this! PhDs represent!!
Thank you!!
Science Bae 😍😍
What kind of algae do you study?? I'm in a cyanobacteria lab doing systematics for my master's
Such a nice vlog❤ love to see it
That’s so cool!! Thank you! I work with Chlamydomonas mostly on their chemotaxis.
@@Bellabombay yo that’s cool, I also recently started doing studying Chlamydomonas!
Best of luck on your research.
@@methiethel1641 thank you so much! Same to you!!
👌🏽 Bella I see you. Beauty and brains
Valencia Chatman thank you sis 💕
Woow.. watching your video make me flashback when i took master's degree.. my research is microalgae too.. >
That’s great! What did you study?

It is very time consuming!! Much different from other organisms! My goal is to understand how they uptake and process chemicals with this project.
@@Bellabombaywoww.. sounds cool >< Someday i want to read your paper. Good luck for u
@@hiayumiw thank you! I’m actually working on my first one right now! Reasons why it’s so hard to stay consistent here!
idk who you are, but im proud of you lol. how long was the PhD program in total? i'm trying to decide if i should do a master's or a doctorate program
Thank you!! My program estimates 5-6 years, the masters would have been 2 1/2. It varies from school to school.
I’ve also seen a few people do it in 4 years!
Okay. I’m going into biology too but idk if I wanna spend all that time, money, and energy on a program 😫 thank you for the advice, beautiful! ❤️
It’s definitely a commitment! And most science programs can offer some type of aid since there’s so many teaching labs that need TAs, not to mention all these major companies sponsoring you!
Ay this is cool, a bio PhD is a dream of mine
Thanks! Go for it!
What do your gpa have to be for PhD acceptance? I’m currently getting my masters in biology 🧪 now
Generally a 3.0 but I didn’t have a 3.0! I’m sure you wouldn’t have a problem with already having a masters.
You are so sweet Bella, but where are your gloves? this could explain the contamination!
Thanks! I was filming on my phone and I just didn’t want to keep grabbing my phone with them so I just used ethanol throughout. And that’s just normal contamination like you would get from leaving dishes in the sink!
Loved it😍
Thank you!
Are you allowed to keep a digital notebook?
I am allowed but it didn’t work for me! I needed to be able to draw things, but in that case the iPads have sketch now so that would be allowed.
Awesome Dr. keep grinding 😬
Thank you! I’m almost there!
👩🏽🎓👩🏽🏫🎒📚
Which one University?
Black women in science represent. Chemistry student here.
Period! I’m sure you do great work!
what was your stats in acceptance?
I actually didn’t even have a 3.0 and I had an average GRE score. What really mattered was the connections I made.
@@Bellabombay what the advice to applying to want be a scientist

You are soooo pretty
Thank you!
You’re so pretty 😍 you have beautiful face tell us your beauty routine
Thank you!! That’s a great video idea!
No gloves or lab coat? Shorts in the lab...? SMH
Yep! Thanks for watching!
😂 Me thinking about my stem cell cultures.
you don't have to wear gloves in the lab? :)

Love to see black girl 🪄, I work in a laboratory 🥼 as well, don’t wanna sound negative but y’all must don’t have to wear gloves 🧤??
Thank you! What kind of lab do you work in? And a lot of wet lab scientists actually don’t wear gloves. It’s just not necessary all the time.
