Its the truth, especially if you manage to quickly rack up combos and launches, as a Ganon main you can literally feel the other player get nervous and confused when a "shitty" character is beating the hell out of them. lol. Shit is hella gratifying given his major weaknesses. I feel the same with Dr Mario.

Since bad news is more widespread than good news and so I'm sure there are plenty of people who heard of what he "did", but then never hear the truth. Or worse, they do hear, but quickly forget and only remember the lies. Crazy how in those days ganondorf was considered mid tier
In most levels of Smash, it's not a really bad character. Bad players will play better with him (as they're not skilled enough to utilize fast characters). The higher skill players have, the more unplayable he is. Top level, Ganondorf is trash, because with optimal inputs, he just cannot win. There are still players quite high up that are able to play him in tournaments (not close to top 50 though).

He's an evo champion and a fgc prodigy. He doesn't only bring his knowledge of melee to this game but also from fighting games.
