  • Its taken almost a year to get to this point. The mechanic has been in to tune up the engine and its now running like a dream. I dont know what I am going to do with all this free time Ive got on my hands from now on

    Im 68 and remember a yellow TR6 driving past me in 1975 and the exhaust note was perfect. I still remember it. Glad your son recorded a but as you pulled out of his drive. Thanks for the videos. P.S. the matte at the back is the single best design. I would have stayed to pull the tape as well.

    Hello Johnny,
    The came came out really nice... and is a testament to your ability to raise to any challenge. I have really enjoyed the series, thank you.
    Take care.

    A good series of videos which captured the ups and downs of restoration. The car looks very good. Pleased you got the injection system running well. Pity you are not going to keep it.

      I think if I had my own workshop I’d be more inclined to do another project. Half my headaches where travelling to either my sons or my brothers and neither is close by. I’m still looking to move and my only criteria for my next house is a huge garden when I can put workshops on😁

    Hi Johnny. I really enjoyed your final video on the tr6 especially the little medley at the end. The music was good too. I have owned a tr6 for 43 years and have finally got somebody to tune and service the fuel injection. I bought a new throttle balance shaft and fitting it was beyond me. 20 years ago maybe, yes. Can’t wait to get it on the road for this summer although I think I’m looking to sell it later in the year. I’m finding it a struggle to get in and out of now ( old git .) besides that, it really is a car of the past now and every year new fuel regulations and restrictions are encroaching on the joy of owning a classic car. Got a clock that needs servicing too. Best wishes, Mark

      @treetopspider  Год назад

      Hi Mark
      Thank you for your kind words.
      The fuel injection on these TR's was a bit of a nightmare for me. I managed to change the diaphragms and fitted new seals on the metering unit. I even worked out how to set up the timing, God knows how!!! Also, finding someone that can work on these classic engines is proving to be more and more difficult. Most modern (young) mechanics dont seem to understand the concept of setting points or timing the ignition. I was very lucky to have found keith, he is of a dying breed.
      I'm self taught with the clocks too. Thats a far more relaxing hobby but maybe not as satisfying as restoring a classic car.

      Looking back at some of the early videos, I'm amazed I ever finished it. This was for me like the Everest of car restoration. There were so many times I wanted to give up but persevered. The end result was worth the punishment in the end

      Hi Paul, I actually found it a bit sad as I was filming the last episode. I felt bad for the regular commenters who have been keeping me going with their kind words and support. You kind of build a little community around you when youre doing a series and then feel bad when its ended.

    Rather a bittersweet ending to a fabulous series, Johnny. I loved watching you do this car with all the dissapointments, frustrations and small victories along the way. It's really a pity you can't hang on to it for a little while at least and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Somebody, somewhere is going to enjoy an amazing car. I hope they can appreciate what has gone in to producing it. Hopefully we will see you soon for your next "restoration". Cheers.

      It could end up not selling. Theres a ton of these in the classifieds, so lots of competition. Its taxed and insured anyway so on the occasional sunny day I may take a drive up to my sons and take it out for a spin, especially if theres a classic car show.
      Thank you for watching

    Beautiful job. I’m sure with your skill set you could build a proper garage or carport to keep it out of the weather if you wanted. I’d keep it for at least the summer. A new video series is lurking in there somewhere!

      Unfortunatey I dont have the space where I live. I am still looking to move and my only criteria is a huge garden where I can build a workshop. Despite all my headaches during this build, I'm already missing it. Ive now resorted to watching others on youtube restoring their cars 😆
