I used to not want to sin because of the shame and guilt, but I would still do it. Now I don’t want to sin because of the separation it causes between me and God and I do it a whole lot less. It’s not the most eloquent way to put it…but I’ve placed my faith in Jesus Christ and His blood and I’m trusting Him for eternity. My faith and repentance are far from perfect but God is doing a work in me and I praise His holy name for His mercy!

I have a question for you because I'm confused. I have not felt God's love or been able to have faith in the finished work of Christ for about 3 years. When I pray all I get is attacks on my mind and I seldom hear from God. I fell away from the Lord with lust and cussing about 4 years ago but here is the catch: Before ANY part is this judgement from God from my sin and before I went through any of this, the Lord warned me "DO NOT go live with your mom just because she's tugging at your heart strings. If you do then you will have destruction in your life.
My mother was demonized and ended up passing 2 and 1/2 years ago, so it DID actually happen because I didn't obey God's voice.
I feel like I have no ability to believe and I'm also being hunted down by the devil. Do you think there is any chance I can be restored and back in God's graces?
I just don't know what to do.
John Piper says in one video that when we are in darkness and without faith, God will bring us out of it and restore us, but in this video he's saying we were never saved. I'm SO confused.
Can you please help me have understanding of all of this? Thank you so much!
      P. S. I used to be very close to God, I felt conviction over sin and was SO in love with God, but after I moved in with my mom I slowly began to feel overwhelmed by the enemy.

@@grace_alone_toward_repentance You do have the ability to believe, your struggles show your faith. There could be some unresolved hidden sin, there could be something you need true deliverance from or help with, nothing wrong with that, as iron sharpens iron. I don't have all the answers, but I know and follow the one who does, and His name is Jesus Christ. Follow Him, appeal to His blood, only by faith are we made right with God.
Feelings are fickle, they change with the wind, while I'm not saying to dismiss them entirely, we come to trust and faith in God alone through for the relationship experience, not the feelings. Stand firm stand firm stand firm on the promises of God, His word.
The devil and his minions use this as a spiritual stronghold, a fence post if you will, in our lives. We all struggle, and to those that think they don't sin call God a liar, and let every man be a liar and God be true.
If you understand Ephesians 6 10 through 18, the devil and his minions are pure hatred, they hate everything God was, is, and always will be. They love nothing more than to be the thorn in our sides and not allowing God to reign supreme in our lives, but that's a defeated mindset, Christ has conquered, He already won. The new covenant. We have a right to be delivered. We are citizens of heaven passing through, but don't be so earthly minded we are no good in heaven, but not so heavenly minded we are no good on earth.
Watch the movie Nefarious, and/or read the light novel from it, explaining it even more Ephesians explaining spiritual warfare.
The thing about your Mom, if you didn't listen before, I understand, God says to honor your father and mother, in doing so we honor Him. But that doesn't mean to be their slave either, doesn't mean to blindly follow them into the fires of sin. Remember, God first, then everything else, as hard as that is sometimes. We all struggle with sin.
I speak the name of Jesus over you, grant you His peace, and restoration of faith. Amen.

Repentance = greek word for metanoia which means to change your mind, in the context of true salvific biblical repentance what it is saying is change your MIND from UNBELIEF in Christ alone as your savior (aka trusting in yourself, trusting in your law keeping, trusting in your "turning from sins") and BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christs finished redemptive work on the cross for remission of your sins. The gospel is the same today as it was 2000 years ago and it will never change, we are justified by GRACE alone through FAITH alone in CHRIST alone.

Which leads to a never ending treadmill of trying and failing over and over. A never ending “I hope so” attitude of salvation. God changed my heart, regenerated my heart giving me the ability to “Be Repentant”. By God’s Grace HE saved me. His Grace and Mercy through Christ’s work am I able to be repentant 👍😇

Heavenly Father's warning to those Catholics who left the Church (from 10/23/2007 message in 'God speaks will you listen'): "My Catholic children, you have been given the Complete Truth. Do not reject your Catholic faith, for you will be held to the highest standard on the Day of Judgment. Read soberly II Peter 2:20-21: "For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice, than after they have known it, to turn back from that Holy Commandment which was delivered to them." Now read Hebrews 10:29-31: "How much more, do you think he deserves worse punishments, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God, and has esteemed the Blood of the Testament unclean, by which he was sanctified, and has offered an affront to the Spirit of Grace? For we know him that has said: Vengeance belongs to Me, and I will repay. And again: The Lord shall judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

Do not think these words are only written to the clergy and the religious orders. These words are written to all those who have taken the bows of Baptism, Confirmation, and who have made Consecrations to My Daughter Mary and My Son Jesus Christ. Your vows have set you apart from the world and you are My New Children of Israel. If you reject your vows to your Father and you refuse to repent, there is not a hot enough place in Hell for you. For you have tasted of My Goodness, received My Mercy and Graces, and have the Holy Trinity residing in your soul. Do not reject so great a salvation. I repeat Myself a final time: Trust in the Lord God Almighty completely, live your vows and promises to your Lord and Savior, and enter into My rest on My 7th day (Rev 20:4-6) and eternally on the 8th day. These words are from God Almighty to those who have ears to hear. Amen."

I completely concur without an iota of doubt as regards the Word of God on Repentance in the mouth of his servant, Derek Prince. Reason is i have been struggling to live right to no avail, due to a sinful habit despite my being born again for several years, until the Lord visited me about a month ago and turned my heart towards Him. Realizing i had no hand in the visitation but just foud out He met with me and killed that evil desire in me, after which He Kindled afresh in me, hatred for the evil habit, fresh love and desire not to hurt Him anymore, fresh desire to study His Word and pray tirelessly for hours. Yes, every true Child od God needs this kind of visitation that turns men's heart away from sin and direct them towards the Almighty God.

I think something huge, very big, was missed in each scriptural reference to "turn us back, oh Lord" in this sermon. It is actually the people of God praying to God to "turn us back", which means, we as sinning believers must recognize that we are in contested waters in our sin and must approach the Lord with a mind (heart) that is clearly aware and ready to repent, enough to call out to God to "turn us back"... So again, we are responsible for taking action and repenting. God will not favor anyone and force a turning back upon that persons life. We get into predestination concepts when saying the Lord turns us back from sin by essentially forcing repentence upon the believer. First we must recognize and ask God to intervene on our behalf, and then He will protect us against attack, temptation, removing obstacles and the enemys weapon as He sees our serious intent to change unfold. He will go much further and steady than we are capable of enduring, as He clears a path that absolutely clear of the enemies schemes, but if we insist on running off the protected path, We do it to ourselves to get caught in the snare hidden off the path. And surely God will bring our transgressions into the light so that we see it and desire repentence, but again and again, God will not force repentence into play without us asking for His help to "turn us back" Pay attention to everything the written word says and everything it does not say.

The gospel is the same today as it was 2000 years ago and it will never change, we are justified by GRACE alone through FAITH alone in CHRIST alone.

I really love the videos of Derek Prince even though he has since long gone and came to be with the Lord.
Anybody who has not changed from darkness into light and from glory to glory has not really encountered the true and risen Christ. God loved us while we were still sinners but we should not remain in sin. However, I as was looking at what Derek Prince has quoted on Lamentations 5: 21 and Psalm 80: 3, 7 and 19. That unless, God really gives us His grace and mercy-- and changes us there will be no true repentance. We should not expect perfection from anyone. Just because we came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, it doesn't mean we always do or say the right thing at the right time with the right motive. No Christian is perfect, nor ideal but if we call ourselves Christians (followers of Christ) we should strive to not break God's heart. We (I always say we, because I am including myself) should see sin as something that breaks our relationship with God not only because we don't want to go to hell or we would like to escape punishment or to avoid the consequences of sin but to see sin as something that breaks our divine closeness and relationship with God.
May we all come to that state, that condition and that rightful place in our lives that we see sin as something that breaks our Father's heart.
    That is true repentance.

Being born again about 5 years ago at the age of 73, have the feeling that all my life, God has turned to me and I wanted to believe but could not.

Realising DNA and the limitless "cloud memory" of the universe, I was very happy to realize that "rising from the dead" was understandable for me at the end.

This is something I have thought about a lot and quietly realised that it is not within our gift to bear false witness.
Part of me loves sin and it brings deep conflict that we are not able to overcome this without the grace of God. I don't want that side of me to prevail but it is not within our gift to be other than God allows us.
That is why I find it difficult when after the sad story of your friend the next parable in the bible calls on us to repent. Surely we should call on God to bring about our repentance otherwise like me will bear false witness? There is part of me that I cannot overcome so must pray that God does for me.

God's command to everyone to repent has already been sounded out. And for Him to command all of man to repent without granting them the ability to do so, would be criminal. Therefore the onus is not upon God, but upon man. All men have a window of opportunity, until their hearts so framed that they cannot yield in submission any longer.
    Acts 17:30,31
[30] And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: [31] Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Matthew 13:15 NLT - For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes- so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.
I believe Pharaoh of Egypt hardened his own heart five times, before God finally hardened it into damnation.
We all need to read the Bible more.

With all due respect, this citation of Psalms and Lamentations are speaking to the nation--not individuals. In fact, it's an individual who is praying. The initiation of repentence is coming from the person, not God in these two passages. The passages are not saying, "I can't repent (turn back) unless you make me repent." I know DP is not a Calvinist, yet his teaching here seems to suggest that he is.

    • @kerriwilson7732
      @kerriwilson7732 11 месяцев назад

The teaching goes against God's words. Repentance (and faith) develops through " hearing ( by the way of God - not ours) "by " the word of God. When one begin to really know God through the teachings of the bible, one cannot help but recognize his sinful ways and in great agony he repents. This generality of quick judgement is what confuses the hearer. God does not turn you. You turn to repentance by your choice. " Come to Me all who are heavy laden. " is not forcing anyone to come but an invitation to choose. God never force man to decide. God gives him the freedom to come, to repent, to become Holy, etc. God does not forcefully turn you. You turn because you saw the truth God showed you.

This "waste of my time" teaching is what Satan wants us to hear and practice. Man is so corrupted by Satan he refuses God, God's teachings and God's encouragement to turn from darkness to light. From whom did man learn this rejection of God? It's been said "practice makes perfect". Practice is a repetitive process. Jesus Christ held His 12 disciples, including Judas Iscariot who refused His teachings. Jesus knew all the time the outcome of Judas but Jesus set an example for us to follow. Jesus is saying spend even a lifetime repeating your teaching a man, He is not a waste of your luxurious time on yourself. I (Jesus) came to you, spent my precious time with you until you finally turned to hear Me. Now, I (Jesus) gave you time to spend on someone I'm calling to My kingdom. If you value this time on yourself, I (Jesus) have wasted it on you. We must not quit dispensing the gospel, it's not our time wasted.

Are we like characters in a book? Do characters in a book have free will apart from what the author writes them to do? If we can’t repent with our own free will then are we not simply written characters following a script? I’ve never heard of a author being angry at the characters he’s created whether they be a villain or hero.

I felt I could not amount to anything in life without gambling, meaning, I didn't have faith that God could take care of me if I stopped gambling cos I couldn't forsee who will come to my aid. But I took a step of faith and deleted all the apps I used for gambling on my phone and waited to see what would happen. I started to live day by day and God started to ensure I didn't run out of money, not that I had all the money I needed, but he made provisions for the things I needed. I looked at that scripture and, in context it says, “you WERE separated from Christ “ - meaning past tense. Verse 13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once WERE far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬.
I see hope in that passage.
      Here’s more context…
“Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands- remember that YOU WERE at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. BUT now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Essentially, Jesus and his dying on the cross gives us hope.

@@aawrnnc Right. That verse is talking about the gentiles before Christ
The verse clearly shows that God does not want everybody on the planet to be saved. There are vessels of wrath fitted for destruction with no hope.
But nothing has changed other than Gentiles are now included in Israel. God still chooses his people and the others have no hope. “Not all Israel is Israel” the Bible says. The vessels of wrath fitted for destruction, or still, not Israel.
Romans 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
Romans 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Romans 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

      @@aletheia8054 but what about 2 Peter 3:9 & 1 Timothy 2:4?
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
      ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV
Both of those versus demonstrate to me that God desires that everyone repent, and come to the knowledge of the truth. He doesn’t want anyone to perish.
I see the “vessels of wrath “ as those who refuse to repent and turn to God. Those who choose death rather than the life God freely gives if they will only accept it.

“I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke. turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God.” - Jeremiah 31:18.

In scripture, repentance means the change of mind from belief in anything other than Jesus to save us, to belief in ONLY Jesus to save use.
I’m not sure Derek Prince really understood what “repentance” really meant.

So let me get this straight. If I have ever in my lifetime rejected the gospel or walked away from God at any time I can now no longer ever be accepted by God? I can’t turn and accept him now? So what you are saying is that I am 100% subject to Gods complete and utter rejection no matter what with no hope of repentance or salvation? What’s the point of even going on living. I mean if I am just as dammed to hell as if I’ve taken the mark of the beast then is there really any point of going on?
