  • Hi, my name is Alex Glaser, a local real estate agent with The Glaser Group. Welcome to Carytown!
Situated just south of the Museum District, Carytown is the central hub for walkable shopping and dining in the city covering over nine city blocks!
As for types of homes in this area, you will find that Carytown is best known for its shopping and restaurants along Cary street but there are a few surrounding roads that are considered to be the neighborhood of Carytown including Parkwood and Grayland Ave. These nearby streets consist mostly of single-family homes averaging 1600 sqft in size and recently have been selling with an average sales price of $370k. Don't worry though, you do not have to live in Carytown to enjoy Carytown as Bryd Park and the southern half of the Museum District are both walking distance to all that Carytown has to offer.
In regards to the Shopping, Carytown is known as the “mile of style” as it offers over 50 retail stores and services making it the prime location to stroll the streets of Richmond to shop. The new Carytown Exchange shopping plaza is currently under construction and should be complete by the end of 2020 which will add several more stores, restaurants, services, and parking.
There is no doubt you will work up an appetite while shopping around and fortunately you have plenty of options! From the casual galaxy diner to the famous Can Can Brasserie, your options are endless. There are way too many restaurants to list them all in this video so please take a look online or simply walk around and see what looks good to you!
One of the main events Each year is the Annual Watermelon Festival which takes place in the heart of Carytown attracting more than 110,000 people to the area.
Carytown is also home to the iconic Byrd Theatre opened in 1928 is named after William Byrd II, the founder of the city. It is a Richmond landmark with rich architectural character. Prior to the pandemic, you could catch a movie for just $4.
