Same! Most of the time I'd just take a whatever photo of my buddy to get the heart but sometimes I'd put actual effort in and it was fun. Now if I'm in my own house, it doesn't recognise any of my surfaces as flat - including the floor, a desk, and a table. So I can't even take a photo of my buddy at home.

I loved using AR mode to get cool pictures of catching pokemon in interesting locations. I once found and caught a blastoise near Tower Bridge, I think that was the best pokemon go screenshot I ever had. Never saw another blastoise near there again and since it’s such an iconic landmark too it looked like a scene from an old monster movie
I liked using it, not because I would catch it faster, but because the entire purpose of pokemon go is to have them in the real world. My phone doesnt support ar plus and now the game is alot less interesting.
Is this why I need a flat surface now to play with my buddy? I can't just open it and give him his attention and feed him etc anymore without a flat surface to first put him on wich wastes tons of time and is often not even possible depending on what Imm doing at the time so I now have it turned off
When i used AR to catch something... It full on crashed my phone, twice and when i say crash i mean it made my phone go to the black screen with the phone logo/build

I think that this feature was like, kinda the whole point of the app at the start, like that was the building block the rest of it was developed around trying to achieve. So I think it really sucks because if that

I missed it so much because before it was easy to get your poke him on in places where you can take photos like before, I wanted to take a picture of one of them next to fireworks, but I was on a stage, so I couldn't place it down

There is a plus side to the reseting effect, all those annoying pokemon that go off to the side (always the side that de-synergizes with your handedness) now get re centered
AR+ runs so ass too... When I try to play with my buddy the frame rate drops down to the single digits and I can't even get my buddy to spawn in anywhere half the time It's such a nonsense change and the way it was implemented is so stupid. Taking away AR absolutely should not be impacting people that don't use it.

It's not as bad now but that was awful also
You have AR+ activated and then it won’t work. Deactivate the AR mode in settings, separate one for your buddy. Then it should work just as before, by tapping the AR slider.
It takes too damn long to get the daily picture and play with your buddy. Used to be a simple hit play scrub Pokémon snap picture and you’re done. But nooooooo I have to find the perfect spot to spawn them in and that takes ages

Turn AR buddy off in the settings and you can feed pet and do whatever with your pet anywhere you want.

I'm not sure how it makes fast catching faster. I always thought AR made it harder to catch.
It takes practice and experience but it’s way faster than having to deal with the camera panning for every encounter on community days.
I have yet to meet a single person whoever used the AR mode and the reasoning behind this video is pretty lackluster, to be honest.
