Thank you, Spencer. We don’t deserve. You willingly spend your time sharing knowledge that’ll help us grow when you could be doing anything else. I hope you see a return on the effort you put in to this channel.
I assume your kidding, I have seen people use a super expensive RED camera and their video looks like crap because they don't understand lighting. I have also seen people use a cheap camera and light really well and their production looks amazing. I always tell people put more money into your lights and lenses, then spend more time on finding actors and blocking rather than time spent on what gear to use..
You had me at hello and lost me with gear. Gear is everything. It’s absolutely defined by point one intention. Camera movement especially is critical as is lighting in controlling the environment and implementing intention. Anyone who says gear doesn’t matter just doesn’t understand what that gear can do. You can shoot any story on an iPhone so long as that’s your intention. Not many do because as an intention most people want to shoot something that holds together at a level thta is informed by every film we see on Netflix. That means gear.
vison and intention and then there is this one guy that comes out of nowhere and starts giving ideas on shoot day and like thats gonna help. I hate that guy cause it ruins all the video/photo plans I have made. my work does not get done nor does his. sometimes its good but 90% of the time its no use.
That guy comes out of nowhere cuz he senses the director/cinematographer don’t have a plan or don’t know what they’re doing. Somebody has to step in when the ship is rudderless. I am that guy. You’re welcome.

Wow! Even better than your gear reviews. I learned so much from you. Thank you
Great vid!
Super valuable info in this video 🔥
This is very helpful, I think I worry too much about the gear too much and less about the networking, I suck at networking

That's all well and good until you're editing a 3 minute video from 3 hours of footage as I'm doing right now. 😂
always do the opposite imo!
