These surrendering Russians are the intelligent ones. They know they wouldn't stand a chance against the western backed, trained, equipped Ukrainian Army. So, they just surrender.

I blame Putin. A lot of the Russian soldiers are forced to go and fight, otherwise they'll be imprisoned, and a Russian prison isn't fun. You could see the mass exodus of young men from Russia when this illegal invasion first began. Some of the queues to go through the border checks took days to get through. People were falling asleep on their feet, desperate to get away, even though they may never be able to go back and see their family and friends ever again. It's a totally unjustified invasion. Those Russian soldiers who did believe in the cause were told through propaganda that they were liberating Ukraine from Facism. They expected to be welcomed by the Ukrainians! They were incredibly confused when the Ukrainians fought back and wanted them out!

Nobody will win this war. 1/4 of Ukraine is in rubble, 100000s of people dead, critical infrastructure damaged etc. Of course Ukraine will have an easier time rebuilding since half of the world is sponsoring them, for obvious reasons. The countries that benefit the most in this are USA and UK since Russia is a direct threat to them in terms of power. Ukraine is just a pawn.

Can you blame them? They're forced to fight, under threat of being imprisoned for refusing. Then they're sent out into the battlefield known as the "meat-grinder", with equipment and weapons they've often had to supply themselves, the Russian government cares so little about its soldiers they're only supplied with a uniform. So, their best option is to surrender to the enemy if they want to survive and not suffer out in the battlefield with no supplies and no resources. I've seen videos where Russian soldiers strip their fellow brothers in arms of everything they're carrying and wearing, after they've been wounded and incapacitated, leaving them to freeze, starve or die without any weapon to protect themselves. That's how brutal it is out there. Damn Putin for starting this illegal, totally unjustified invasion of a neighbouring independent nation. It's no longer the Soviet Union, Ukraine is a country in her own right now and he had no right or reason to violate her borders!

In ww2 the US had to also supply the Russians with weaponry, food and uniforms because they didnt have enough on their own to fight the Germans. I would have thought they would have learned from that but apparently thats not the case
