In my opinion, Colonization resulting in economic benefits was a footnote to the institutional driving force of "religion", and economics have been a mainstay force of control in this theater. Additionally, one can see that technological advancements have been reserved to governments, and the advances lent to the 'working class' is relegated to convinience-keeping the working class in a perpetual consumer state...which denegrates society rather than advancing it, leaving true technological innovations to the desire of the few...which may or may not benefit mankind. So the question now is....does this cultural revolution represent a NEW colonizing effort by reconstructing the demographics and geopolitics of the World, or is this institution being driven by something else, identifiable to the colonization of the past ?
