I read those books, she isn't wrong. There is a subculture of people who do cause a lot issues for other creators. Whether it be posting under non related thirst traps or just posting about certain topics that are triggering, there is a definite issue with some of the booktok people. I remember an incident where they were thirsting after a minor cause he wore a biker helmet. Then when they realized hes a minor they decided they were his "mama and would protect him" which is equally as weird and creepy. This isn't the only time and there needs to be a conversation on not going into other people's spaces and announcing "booktok is here." If booktok demands their space be protected, others need to respect others spaces. If you are posting on the internet publicly, you are open to public criticism, valid or not. If you cannot handle criticism on your interest, don't post your interest. I been on booktok since 2020 and the internet for longer, I seen all the dramas. Her comments are not original in the slightest, this has been repeated over and over and over again. Just don't interact with it if you don't want to see it. I work in retail where we sell books. Ice breakers and other booktok books are located right next to YA (young and middle reader is located in a separate section of the store). This is set by corporate, not by employees. I fully blame parents for the their teens or younger getting a hold of it. My parents reviewed every book I read up until I was 18. Parents not parenting now days is a whole other topic I won't get into. Its not booktok, author, or the store's responsibility that a parent bought an inappropriate book. Personally, I don't like taboo or dark romances. Just not for me. I am not going to actively seek out people who enjoy it or read it just to hate on it. I will say as booktok turns to a way to advertise books, trigger warning I feel are treated as a selling point. Which I mean i love that trigger warnings are being told upfront but some people treat it as a sales pitch. It feels wrong but if people want it like that I am not going to yuck people's yum. Overall, her video is just an opinion that has been repeated over and over again. I am 23, I am too old to be caring about what some random Canadian feels about what I read. I seen much worse videos on booktok than hers. 99% of them are made in bad faith and just insult booktokers from both men and women. I giver her a half step up cause she at least read the books. I do feel sometimes people hide behind "stop hating women's hobbies" to not accept criticism. There is a line between hating womens hobbies and actual concern with the community activities. Yes people put down women's hobbies but at some point there has to some accountability. The rise of smut in booktok has overflowed the market with poorly written cash grabs that use smut to sell. There is so much misogyny and sexism in some of these books. There has been so many authors that have been canceled for racism and many other horrible issues. There is harm in what is promoted. As a community, there are truths in these criticisms and need to be addressed. Taking videos like this is an opportunity to open the floor to actual problems withing even if the video was in bad faith. Overall, I just can't find myself to care about her opinions. If one person's opinions makes someone so offended that they feel like they are being attacked, there's other issues there. My identity is not my hobbies. My identity is not my community. People are allowed to like and dislike things, they are also allowed to share. It is not my place to say anyone's opinion is wrong on both sides of the argument. Personally, I just block people if I don't like their stuff. Saves me having to see it, I am sure my one view is not missed. Sorry this is so long, I reacted as you spoke. Great video, I think we agree on almost points. 👍
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I agree on a lot of it, and like you said ultimately her opinion (or anyones, for that matter) isn’t going to change what I like for myself. I hadn’t heard about booktok people thirsting after a minor, thankfully that never came up with the people I follow but I agree that is gross behaviour! If anything, that may explain why Kris thought some of what she did so I appreciate that insight! I don’t agree with her takes in the videos, but I totally get that with any side of TikTok there are always people taking things wayyyy too far!
Then actually pay attention to the '18+' label on the back of the books, and you won't have to interact with what you don't like and the people who do can continue to enjoy them.
@@VixendotJPEG from the books I’ve seen, there’s no rating on the book. You just gotta look it up to see if it contains or not. Or flip through it. Maybe in other countries there are ratings but not in the US
That’s fair, depending on what other genres you like maybe myself or others in the comments can reccomend you some other books? I actually haven’t had an issue with most books I read having smut - I read those romances specifically when I’m in that mood but generally stick to fantasy, thrillers, and classics where there definitely can still be ‘smut’ but a lot of the time there isn’t or it’s minimal!
there are so many non smut books being reccommeded on tiktok, you jkust arent interacting with the right content. my kids are on kid book tok my husband is on mystery book tok. there are sooo many "popular" books that are not smut
No because this whole controversy is dumb asf. She was RIGHT. Kris didn’t say anything wrong she just didn’t sugar coat it. It’s okay to enjoy so spicy things here and there but what’s not okay is trying to normalize and romanticize corn addiction. Not to mention the toxic and sometimes illegal depictions in a lot of the books. Liking smut is okay, but trying to justify weird and illegal relationships and scenarios is not.
"corn" addiction isn't real actually. This has been studied and reiterated again and again. The people who claim to be "corn" addicts or claim it's addictive are people with unhealthy relationships to sex and sexuality, who feel shame for sexuality.
@@devonn3278 it literally IS a real thing. Y’all are addicted to y’all’s corn books and can’t stop reading them. I’m not saying you can’t read some smut here and there, but it gets bad if you’re reading books with illegal or morally wrong depictions and actually enjoy them. Many people use them as a coping mechanism, which is toxic and unhealthy.
I don’t think anyone is justifying them in real life, which I discussed in the video! I think it’s easy for most people to enjoy something in fiction without it warping your brain and making you think it’s okay IRL. But IF people are actually saying “this happened in my book so I think it’s okay in real life” then yes, I agree that is problematic. I’ve just yet to see anyone do that personally!
I’m 17 and recently bought icebreaker I thought it would’ve been a normal and ordinary romance book but I realised that it’s not but I love it so I just skip over the parts of the book where it gets too much for me or I just stop reading for a day or two and start again it’s really just that simple to do
Oh it isn’t! My channel is a place where I talk about popular internet controversy and drama, not for heavy topics usually (though sometimes they are!). I don’t think I’d do justice trying to talk about all the insane things going on in the world right now so I stay in my lane 😂
this whole thing is a classic case of who gives a flip. Sex/things of sexual nature, is such a natural thing to explore and if people find enjoyment and community out of it then let a thousand blossoms bloom 🤙
@@Treekyboi just stop she is one of the strongest people I know so until u know her story, don’t judge a book by its cover u leave her alone mr reekieboi
Agreed! I think if it’s not for her (or not for others) that’s perfectly okay! It’s just not great to put down a whole genre and the readers just because it isn’t for her. I actually hope she does do a book review again but maybe one of a book she did like! Redemption arc? 🙌🏼
As a librarian, writer, and book reviewer I make sure to think about what genre I’m reading when I’m dealing with a book. Even with genres I’m not familiar with. Yeah, there can still be things about the book I may not like but what Kris is saying is flippant and a bit unfair.
As a book lover, I have so many thoughts about this. Number one being: it’s 2025, why are we STILL judging people for what they read?! I’m so sick of hearing “oh you read romance, those aren’t real books”…like what? I genuinely don’t understand it. If you don’t want to read these books, then don’t! What you read or don’t read doesn’t affect me! Let people read what makes them happy, at least they are reading which is such a great hobby. Plus, this felt like more of an attack since she isn’t an avid reader herself. Nobody forced her to read these books. Okay rant over 😅 great video friend!! 🩵
10:08 this made me so mad because it isn’t the author/publisher’s fault for using cartoon covers and “marketing them for children”, where are the parents monitoring what their kids are reading?! Like that isn’t anyone else’s job. Clearly I’m very passionate about this 🤣🤣
Agreed! I think ultimately if people are reading, that’s just awesome either way regardless of genre or anything! And totally, I think that’s why it felt so out of left field for me too - it’s not like she’s reviewed tons of books and these were just a few she didn’t like. It felt like she set out to find books she didn’t like so she could make a video with this tone!
Great job articulating the hypocrisy in her video and supporting your arguments! If the phrase "This kind of person needs to touch grass" does not exist as a classic colloquial form of verbal shaming, then I'd love to hear from Kris where she got her understanding of that phrase since, according to her, her video was not created to shame others and yet she used that phrase.
I read a lot of different genres and I do enjoy everything from a cheesy romance, to an epic fantasy story and also smut. But I didn't take any offense in Kris video. As a woman I didn't feel patronized or that she was misogynist in any way. She was poking fun in taking a few examples that stood out of her. And as it is in that type of video, she generalized a few things in an exaggerating way. Sure. But I don't get why people feel so offended now. I see a lot of "but what about..." in many of those reactions ("But what about in shows and movies?" - "But what about GoT?") but that's not really something that can be compared and shouldn't be compared. I also dislike a lot, that many reactions to this talk about "us women", as if guys wouldn't read that kind of books at all? Like. It's ok if someone dislikes something I like. And yeah, I can be a bit upset if they make fun of it. But this Drama stirring is just too much and doesn't do the BookTok scene any favor. I usually like your videos, Kyla. But you also seem a bit personally upset here, which doesn't sit right with me. I'm sorry you feel offended by Kris' opinions and the way she presented it. But I think your (and anybody elses) way of reacting to this is a bit over the top and maybe a bit too caught up in the heat of the moment. I'd have liked your video more if you had been more objective, like I actually expected when clicking on this video, because that's what you usually do xD Also, going on about how Kris should have tagged the people she used the clips of and saying she could have "at least" followed them because that would be "polite" was a bit much for me. It's ok if that's your opinion but the tone you delivered it with was a bit patronizing to me. Not implying that's what you wanted, but just saying how it came across. I think everybody should just chill out.
I totally agree. I think BookTok can be a really volatile place-it’s great to see people reading, but some of the books are just trash. Wasn’t there also a huge controversy about BookTok authors using real life hockey players for their books, and oversexualizing them, upsetting the player and their family? I think this community is just really big and any large group is prone to problematic behavior.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts! I wasn’t upset by what Kris said, at the end of the day she isn’t someone who I really watch otherwise so I wasn’t personally hurt or upset, but all of my videos are mostly me sharing my thoughts and opinions so that’s what this one was too! Just explaining the drama that went down, and what myself and many others thought about it! But good to know that it came off less objective, because I hadn’t realized that so it’s something I can keep in mind more in the future! Also I didn’t mean Kris should follow them - I don’t always follow people who are in my videos, I just meant she could have credited their content in her caption or on screen when she played their clips! Def wasn’t meant to seem patronizing but I totally get what you’re saying as well! And again thank you for all your insight!!
i wasn't upset by what she said to the point of unfollowing. it seemed distasteful. what got me to unfollow was her attacking people in the comment deleting when people were explaining why what she said hurt them. she replied back to people things like "omg be so fr it was just a joke" (I have a screen shot of that one) when they were just expressing how her words made them feel. The way she receives criticism is why I unfollowed. she went to attacking them instead of owning up to offending some of her viewers.
Kris saying that kids are picking up these books annoys me for several reasons. One, those covers do not looks like children’s books. They always look either like adults, or at the very least teenagers. Children’s books feature covers that have children on them. Charlotte on Charlotte’s web distinctly looks like a child. Icebreaker’s looks like they’re in college, or at the very least close to done high school. My second issue is that she is specifically using the rhetoric that book banners use. Kids are not finding these books in schools, librarians are not placing this books in the kids or ya sections. The only time where it might be slightly confusing is in big box stores like Target or Costco. Dedicated bookstores like Barnes and Nobles, or your local independent bookstores will have dedicated sections. There’s a clearly labeled section for children’s books, for ya books, and the ones that just say the genre are adult books. Those types of stores and libraries are not placing the ya and adult books together like your local target does. Librarians work hard for their degrees and they’re not going to risk losing it by ignoring their training and education to recommend adult books to children. Spreading around the idea that they are trying to make kids read these books is the exact reason why book banners are working so hard to get them removed from public libraries for everyone. At the end of the day it’s a parent’s job to individually make sure that they approve of the content their kids are reading, watching, and listening to. But people will only start to care and be outraged once this rhetoric starts to come for the things that they personally love.
Such a good point - I didn’t even realize that those types of points are what book bans are using as leverage to ban even more but it totally makes sense. And I agree I’ve been in so many book stores and libraries and have never seen books like that near the kids books. And as you mentioned, the art on kids books are so different.
Personally I think that drama abt a book is just dumb. cause in reality books are an art form and the whole point of art is that its up to the person viewing the content if someone gives their opinion its just their opinion and everyone sees that differently. As a fan of kmk I thought the video was funny and yes there are some issues with the video, I will not deny that. I also think that book-tok getting upset with her opinions is wrong. Listening to this video you bring up good points from the ethical standpoint. Lovely video tho !!!
Thank you so much for your input! I agree over all it’s definitely not a big issue - I just love booktok and make commentary videos so when I saw it all over my TikTok I wanted to talk more about it! I think some of the issues i brought up also go way deeper than just Kris’ video, and she definitely is still entitled to her own opinion of course! Glad you enjoyed my video either way!
I talked about that right after! I was saying it doesn’t happen that the books are sold to children, and reiterated a few times that if parents aren’t being responsible and checking the content their kids read/ watch that’s on them not the books or bookstores!
thats on the parent. i have 3 children. i monitor there media to make sure its age appopriate. i read smut. i have to go to the otherside of the store to get them. i also can see the 18+ lable that is right above the bar code/ read what it is about. if you cant parent your child that is not on the bookstores
I remember when my Mum had a whole collection of Mills and Boone books when I was a kid - definitely not for kids to read and the covers very suggestive. It was normalised in the 80’s/90’s for adult women to have a collection of Mills and Boone books. **note** Mills and Boone is a popular Australian book collection.
Inherently there isn't anything wrong with "spicy" or dark romance. The problem comes from two main sources that I've seen. I don't doubt misogyny plays a roll in it plenty of my fem presenting friends in nerd spaces get tons of flak for no reason other than "woman," but a lot of people use social media to find recommendations and one of those is booktok which has unfortunately moved to mainly smut novels which again is fine but it's become rampant in a way that's severely hampering people's desire to read. The second is a lot of the people who like these books are rabid about them in a way that's a little bit concerning. On two separate instances minors have gotten pulled into it. One a 16 year old kid on a motorcycle asked for book recommendations clearly stating he was a 16 year old boy who liked sci-fi and dystopia. His comments were flooded with grown women hitting on him and saying inappropriate things to him because he wore a motorcycle helmet and wanted to read. When these women were told in the comments this is a 16 year old boy they doubled down. The second another kid 16 years old was commenting on the fact that it was difficult for him to find book recs because of how prevalent "spice" was. Granted he did get very belligerent with it and shelled out several demeaning comments of his own but his post got dogpiled by grown women again and one person made a video saying if he was so against it to show her his search history. She did take the video down after realizing he was a minor but these are the two biggest ones that I can remember. Again there's nothing wrong with smut and dark romance it's the people recommending it to children and lashing out when people say "hey we don't like this is there something else?" that's the problem
Wow yeah I think my booktok fyp is different, I do get a lot of spicy romance reccomendations (which I like so it’s understandable) but I also have many “thought daughters” (as they call themselves” recommending all kinds of other genres, so I think I‘ve found a good mix that doesn’t get drowned out by just smut all the time. The situation with the 16 year old kid is genuinely unhinged - thankfully that didn’t come up on my fyp but I agree 100% that is creepy weird behaviour. I think with any big group there are always bad apples, and I definitely do not condone the behaviour you mentioned at all! Thank you for bringing it to my attention, I’ll have to look into that more!!
She's very conservative, and she's moving to TEXAS because she doesn't like BC. That speaks volumes itself, if you know the difference between the american state & that Canadian province.
i feel like y’all are just too sensitive because i litterally read spicy books she just doesn’t enjoy that kind of stuff which is totally aloud to not like a genre…
I mean I am sensitive 👀😂 but for real I agree, it isn’t that deep and her opinions won’t change what I enjoy - I just love talking about internet drama especially when it’s about something I love like books. But I do think the misogyny women face about their hobbies is worth talking about
I agree with you 100%. It's ridiculous to me how pretentious people are regarding reading. And, considering that most people consider reading an intellectual hobby, it's ironic that so-called "intellectuals" are spending their time critiquing what other people read when they could be doing something productive like enjoying their favorite novels and minding their business. It also frustrates me how people pin romance/spicy readers against classic lit/non-fiction readers. I can read a spicy novel one week and a classic novel the next. Neither is better or worse than the other.
Wow You put into words exactly why the elitist takes on TikTok don’t sit right with me! You’re so right, they consider it an intellectual hobby but then look down on people and act as if they’re “low brow” for participating in that hobby in the way they want to.
This is strange. I used to go to the library a lot and definitely read some books from horror and sci-fi that were far filthier than some romance. I also feel full body embarrassment reading these scenes, being a married adult woman in my 30s, so I know this isn't my genre. That said, I do enjoy romance books, not all of these are for me. I generally stick to the ones less graphic, which I kinda thought that's why we look to others thoughts on them.
Agreed! I’ve read some horror books that even I was like waitttt this is wild lol. And that is so fair, taste is so subjective I bet a lot of the books I love others would hate, and vice versa there are books so many people love that just did nottt do it for me! I agree looking at reviews and other people’s thoughts can help narrow down what you may enjoy in a book (which is good because theyre so expensive these days 😅)
Fair yeah, I didn’t love her opinions! 😂 but yes in general I agree - I just talk about internet drama for a living and this was one I kept seeing so I made the video!
@KylaJames sorry, after reading it back, my comment seems a little rude. There are some awful people out there who deserve to be called out. It's hard for me to get on board with going after people for small stuff. She definitely could have worded it a little more delicately, but my kids like her and I know she has struggled with serious depression in the past. It's sad that everybody is going so hard for ultimately a pretty harmless opinion, even if it is distasteful. I hope she's doing ok.
i’ve been getting awfully weird vibes from Kris more and more recently and have completely pulled away from her content. i think something more is coming…
PICK ME!?!? Kris 1 kris is not a pick me 2 she was joking that her way of fun don’t judge 3 kris is one of the most strongest people I know 4 if it wasn’t for kris I would be dead 5 she has been thro a lot 6 something I think all “BOOK LOVERS” DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER IF I SEE CORRECTLY THATS EXSACLY WHAT U JUST DO JUDGE A BOOKE BY ITS COVER
I’m very glad her content was able to help you get through difficult things, and I didn’t say SHE is pick me, some of her takes came off that way to me. I’m sure she herself is a fine person - this video wasn’t about her character. Thank you for watching even if the video wasn’t for you!
@@EbonyValentine-m6w I'm curious how this is judging a book by its cover. This is generally a commentary on how the video made others feel and not finding the humor in the video.
Haven't seen her video but it is NOT cool to judge people for what they read. I hate smut but I'm not gonna treat the people who read it any differently. I might be grossed out but that's not an excuse. It's okay to not give a perfect review of a book but not to put others down.
Totally agree! There are topics in books that I don’t like too but I’d never put down those who do. I like smut sometimes (huge mood reader here, so what I like changes with the wind lol) but I’d never shame someone for not liking it either! Taste is so subjective
17:28 can't believe a person that young and that online (I've been watching her for years, she's VERY chronically online) would use the "violence in video games, makes children violent" equivalent argument, holy shit Does she realise that fiction is not the same as real life but... fiction?
Just personally i watched kris for quite a while when 95% of her content were reviews and tiktok reactions, and i'm also a reader. Seeing her thumbnail kind of made me nervous knowing kris was someone i looked up too, and sure i enjoy a healthy dose of erotic scenery in books, sometimes if done right it's a alot of fun to read about, but that's not the only thing i read for. I personally could go either way or based on my mood that day, could be butcher and blackbird, could be better than the movies, both amazing books that i loved, and they were fun because that's what i was in the mood for. But seeing kris say that i need to touch grass just for enjoying something like butcher and blackbird made me rethink how i enjoy her content and how i view her as an influencer. I dunno, this is all in my opinion, just wanted to get that off my chest
Totally fair! I wasn’t a watcher of her content prior to this, though I had heard of her. Based on the comments I think some of her takes definitely alienated some of her viewers for sure, but hopefully she learns from it and you can enjoy the rest of her content if it’s still something you want to watch!
I usually like her videos but that video was lame lol she’s entitled to her opinion and that’s ok but I wasn’t a fan of it at all. I love me some romance novels. I read like 2 books a week on average and a lot of them are romance, though I do also enjoy other genres. That was a silly move for her. The judgement is a little icky to me. Ps I will read the back of a book in that tone she used and then toss it right in my basket 😂
I keep having to add to this because I’m a talker lol after seeing her apology, I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt. People are people. We’re biased, we make mistakes, we say and do stupid things. I’ve done plenty of things that I’m not proud of and I haven’t made amends for all of them. My apologies have never been perfect. She talked shit, got shut down, and learned a lesson. I think we can chalk it up to bad taste and let sleeping dogs lie at this point.
Haha all good! I agree in regard to her apology, I don’t think she set out intending to be malicious or hurt anyone’s feelings. There are aspects of her apology that I didn’t love, but in general I don’t think her intention was to be mean spirited or make people upset
"I have a positive audience, so I'm not used to criticism." Um... your audience/followers/fans aren't holding you accountable, is what you're saying. They're so blind that they'll excuse your bad behavior. So of course she's upset when people outside of her group say hey, you're doing something wrong. @@miyukichan3878 sure if social media life was the only life we lived.. Do i follow what they say? Nope... But it doesn't mean im not around them... And honestly its the same for social media...
Hahaha I kinda thought that too. And I agree sometimes the relationship between followers to a creator does get parasocial. I don’t even think what Kris did/ said was THAT bad (I mean all things considered it’s very minor), so I don’t even think anyone needs to defend her. It’s just a topic I’m interested in and something I saw a lot about online so I wanted to make the video!
I love books, I always have and I've read hundreds of books of all genres, I worked at a large bookstore for many years. I love browsing booktoc/bookstagram. I've seen Kallmekris' video and I wasn't offended at all- some of the recs on booktoc are not great, a bit vapid, shallow or poorly written and have toxic relationships without proper warnings. - I read a booktock reccomendation about a girl who had a romantic sexual relationship with a sentient door - yes 'sentient object romance' is a genre and a popular one that I've seen reccomended - it wasn't for me but I had a laugh and moved on- if it's your thing get that door girl. At the end of the day these books are an escape , some aren't for one person or another - Kris read a genre a popular and widely reccomended atm (romance/hockey romance) that's all over booktoc and she expressed her dislike- I read a popular hockey one and frankly hated it, it was predictable and childish but it's not a genre of romance I typically like. The issue i think revolves around is the ability to differentiate healthy relationships and boundaries vs a fantasy or indulgence we read for fun- I have met people who do take it a bit too seriously and idealize an unhealthy relationship theyve read in a book and perhaps need to take that break from the genre. Also chiming in as someone who has worked at a bookstore young girls are and do read smutty books i was one of them - they walk into the romance section and read them - as parents the covers are misleading they see a cartoon and assume it's fine without checking (which they should it's their responsibility or ask an employee), I read 50 shades of grey /game of thrones when I was like 14 and other romances that were far better written and more raunchy/toxic- no one questioned what I was buying and some of them did have racier covers. End of the day Kris didn't like it she thinks it's weird genre/book, I think religious romance is weird but love dragons, and dark romance, and high fantasy. We like what we like as long as you aren't hurting anyone you do you.
bro fr... like girl just said what she thinks.. in her opinion.. people who like this need to touch sm grass and as someone who went thru a spicy romance genre phase... In my opinion, I agree too!! like i really should hv touched grass...

Shes not incorrect. The smut popularity has ruined my personal want to read anything "popular" right now
Then actually pay attention to the '18+' label on the back of the books, and you won't have to interact with what you don't like and the people who do can continue to enjoy them.
Liking smut is okay, but trying to justify weird and illegal relationships and scenarios is not.
forreals
I’m 17 and recently bought icebreaker I thought it would’ve been a normal and ordinary romance book but I realised that it’s not but I love it so I just skip over the parts of the book where it gets too much for me or I just stop reading for a day or two and start again it’s really just that simple to do
should probably have noticed the 18+ on the back of the book.
Y'know, like the one on every spicy book.
gonna be honest, i dont think its that deep and theres way worse issues to talk about rn💀 all this drama over books is actually so silly omg
Oh it isn’t! My channel is a place where I talk about popular internet controversy and drama, not for heavy topics usually (though sometimes they are!). I don’t think I’d do justice trying to talk about all the insane things going on in the world right now so I stay in my lane 😂
tell that to kris who is now deleting comments and threating to sue creators over just talking about the situation now.
this whole thing is a classic case of who gives a flip. Sex/things of sexual nature, is such a natural thing to explore and if people find enjoyment and community out of it then let a thousand blossoms bloom 🤙
PS. More like CallMeCRINGE GOTTEM
I love that! I’m the same way, usually with books I don’t end up loving I can find some things I liked about them. It did seem flippant I agree!
It felt like she set out to find books she didn’t like so she could make a video with this tone!
i was so mad at the books she picked. like yes these books are controversial and taboo in the spicy space as is. why are you putting it on all of us.
On the back of the book near the barcode it even says “18+ content. Not suitable for younger readers”
Interesting I didn’t even realize it said that, but that’s good to know as well!
Thank you so much! For sure, “touch grass” “come up for air” etc all are shame-y to me as well!
I'd have liked your video more if you had been more objective, like I actually expected when clicking on this video, because that's what you usually do xD
Also, going on about how Kris should have tagged the people she used the clips of and saying she could have "at least" followed them because that would be "polite" was a bit much for me.
But people will only start to care and be outraged once this rhetoric starts to come for the things that they personally love.
i literally know kids who have read icebreaker. she isnt wrong
13:30 she did tell a story about how a kid was reading it, so ya it did happen... lol
Hahaha love that! My fiancé used to work at a bookstore and he said he always had women coming in looking for romance books
Interesting, I had no idea but I have seen people discuss thinking she will start making right wing content soon so I guess we’ll see! 👀
She moved to Texas to live with her boyfriend what???
@@Starstuff98 what you say, it's true!
i feel like y’all are just too sensitive because i litterally read spicy books she just doesn’t enjoy that kind of stuff which is totally aloud to not like a genre…
Kris is gonna be so disappointed when they don't pick her.
Don't worry, you can have the whole video of you yapping, it's what we are here for lol. Can't wait to see more from you! 🎉
Hahaha ily, thank you!!
Idk, it just sounds to me like people dont like her opinions. A lot of the video feels reaching to me. Its easy to stop watching and scroll.
I don’t know a lot about her but I will say you are not the first person to say something like that! I could see it 👀
PICK ME!?!? Kris
1 kris is not a pick me
2 she was joking that her way of fun don’t judge
3 kris is one of the most strongest people I know

I’m very glad her content was able to help you get through difficult things, and I didn’t say SHE is pick me, some of her takes came off that way to me. I’m sure she herself is a fine person - this video wasn’t about her character.
Thank you for watching even if the video wasn’t for you!
I agree with you. She did a great show about it. She bluntly said her opinion about it. People are allowed to talk about things lol

Uuu 😮 ✨️drama✨️where is my popcorn 👁👄👁
There’s always some sort of drama going down on TikTok! 😂🍿
17:28 can't believe a person that young and that online (I've been watching her for years, she's VERY chronically online) would use the "violence in video games, makes children violent" equivalent argument, holy shit
Does she realise that fiction is not the same as real life but... fiction?
I hate smut and spicy book token books but im asexual lol it's weird to me
That is totally valid!!
Yeah it didn’t sit great with me either! I just think there’s no reason to judge what others read in general, even if it’s not for her.
Haha all good! I agree in regard to her apology, I don’t think she set out intending to be malicious or hurt anyone’s feelings. There are aspects of her apology that I didn’t love, but in general I don’t think her intention was to be mean spirited or make people upset
Being critical of content is fine but when you start to criticize people for liking things you start to look like an asshole and pick me.
Totally agree that it’s completely fine to negatively review the content! Negatively reviewing the readers is a bit different 😂
"I have a positive audience, so I'm not used to criticism." Um... your audience/followers/fans aren't holding you accountable, is what you're saying. They're so blind that they'll excuse your bad behavior. So of course she's upset when people outside of her group say hey, you're doing something wrong. She used to people having this strong parasocial relationship with her where they have to defend her.
orr just MAYBE
that her audience that follows her and her fans... agree with her?

now does that affect anyone? nope... am i gon ring it in every spicy romance lover's head? nop
its just my freakin opinion.. and kris? she said she'll review it... i think ppl dont know kris but she's very
opinionated and she says her mind. she read the book, she reviewd it.. yes it wasnt as a critic but it was still HER review.. obssessin over someone sayin they dont like the genre like thats tellin that u do need to touch sm grass...
idk man.. we aint blind bro, we're human.. we follow who we agree with... just like u do

We like what we like as long as you aren't hurting anyone you do you.
you missed the point.
bro fr... like girl just said what she thinks.. in her opinion.. people who like this need to touch sm grass
and as someone who went thru a spicy romance genre phase... In my opinion, I agree too!!
like i really should hv touched grass...

I mean good for you but i like romances, i read almost all romances (mostly queer) and nonfiction bc that's what works for me at this point in my life and what i enjoy, and like, good for you that you thought you needed to touch grass while you were into those books, but your experiences are not universal. It's your opinion that Kris is right about whatever and it's the video creator's opinion that a lot of what she was saying was kinda crappy. Personally i get exhausted of the same "critiques" of romances, especially ones with more erotic scenes. It's all the same that's just like, "it's just 'corn.'" like ok. Thanks? Have fun with whatever you like then.
@devonn3278 oh yes, ofcrs... I know that my experience was solely mine and unique to me and that there are people like you, who actually enjoy all that!
And yeah, ef whatever me and kris said, opinions are.. Opinions
I actually kinda love how you didn't take it personally, and i think that's what kris thought.. Her audience is a lot like her and she thought it would stay in her community.. Well... Internet ig..
In rhe end, its just you do you and I'll do me.
I honestly respect your stand way more than others under the comment section! I wish u the very best cuz honestly, idk why but ur comment made my day!
