    This scene had everything:
    - The ‘future technology’ looks at least semi-realistic even if the laws of physics shrivel up and die
    - Everything looks worn and scuffed like they’ve been at war for a long time
    - Raleigh and Yancy’s characters are captured perfectly in this short segment (Raleigh is chirpy and excited, Yancy calmer and more professional)
    - They banter and joke with Tendo and stop when the serious Marshal arrives
    - You can feel the overconfidence coming off them as killing Kaiju is just Tuesday for them now

Pacific Rim: Jaegers are titanic, damn near arcane technology that require entire teams of engineers, technicians, and assorted scientists just to maintain. They can only be piloted by people that share a strong personal bond. The pilots must also be warriors so that the effort of making them is not wasted.
Uprising: Lol any teenager in a garage can build one that can do backflips and they are all sassy one liner spitting perfectly groomed yet somehow tame enough for a PG rating.

Do you remember that movie, Battleship, with Rhianna? Most of the movie is just silly, but at one point, the characters have to work together with veterans to restart the USS Missouri, and the shots of that, with people going to stations and the boilers firing up to move this enormous, heavy thing is the same kind of feeling like here.
I know it sounds weird, but look for a clip of that scene to compare them.

I think this is what the second film was missing. The clanking of metal, interlocking of parts, the whirring of mechanical machines. Sure the Jaegars looked cool with a more sleeker design and better handling, but there’s just something more satisfying when you see how these Jaegars move and prepared. You can feel the mechanical bulkiness of these machine and just feel how immense they are.

Facts about Pacific Rim (2013) Travis Beacham got the idea for the movie while walking along the California coastline on a foggy morning. The shape of the pier looked like a creature rising from the water, and he imagined a large robot waiting on the shore to fight it. The sound for the Kaiju’s roars was made of layer upon layer of animal roars and growls, which were filtered, sped up and slowed down to create the roar of alien behemoths. Then, to add emotion and a sense of intelligence, supervising sound editor Scott Martin Gershin and Guillermo del Toro added samples of their own voices. Pacific Rim was both Guillermo del Toro and Guillermo Navarro’s first experience shooting with digital cameras. Navarro bought seven Red Epic cameras specifically for the movie and used his own lenses, as he prefers shooting with his own camera equipment over renting it.
