- Today we're breaking down the latest from the Middle East after the Iranian president died in a helicopter crash late on Sunday.
Then we take a look at the latest from the Hague, after the ICC called for arrest warrants to be issued for Benjamin Netanyahu, some of his cabinet, and Hamas' top officials on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
We also take a look at the final report from the infected blood inquiry, which found there was a decades-long cover-up of the scandal which affected over 30,000 people.

As a Northern listener, I'd like to point out that it's fucking totemic that the boats in London come more regularly than the buses in Bishop Auckland.
Second this, Tyne and Wear metro regularly has 30 minute waits at peak times. Sometimes 45 - 60, completely shameful for what's meant to be a hub of the 'Northern powerhouse'...
@peter.darling even more shameful is the fact the tory party actually went to india to learn how to do this.. namely limit services and encourage the trains, platforms and buses be overrun and over flowing with folk. 2009
More regularly than the mainline train to Leeds too! Listening to Oli's little "you can't commute on that" comment while having to commute on half of that made my blood pressure spike because of the sheer London-blindness of it.
@peter.darling it never used to be like that. When an under 16 could ride all day on a 15p transfer.
@@James-mb3je given we used to hoard them to use in rolling joints, I've probably still got some Metro tickets that say 30p on them.
As a British Serbian. I expect my government to use the exact same rule of law against isreal and they did with Serbia.
They only go after weak countries - Serbia, Sudan, Israel. They wouldn’t dare touch China.

Oli won the edit then 😂😆
He was willing to pay Laura's special 'editing fee'. 😉
"Love podcasts, hate nonces"
"HOLD ON A MINUTE!"
Producer mic guy acknowledged, don't give up hope
Huge opportunity missed during the Thames clipper discussion to bring up stopping the small boats 😅
Just require the passengers on the small boats to have a separate debit card each to tap on and off with.
"I wonder where she is now...?" "Who?" ".......I actually don't know" I'm crying
There is a phenomenon known as loss of spacial awareness that can affect even the most experienced pilots during fog or a 'brown out', (dust storm)
It can even make the pilot not want to trust the altimeter gauge that gives the height reading. So combining fog with a mountain is a serious problem.
Most military pilots are trained to a level of operating on instruments only.
The advanced licence.
Very few air ambulances operate through the night because the risk of loss of spacial awareness issue is severe even in experienced pilots.
Its a psychological effect on the brain.
Scuba divers also suffer it too unable to work out which way is up or down. Once panic sets in, they even fail to realise their own air bubbles are going upwards.
Also people buried in avalanches have been known to dig downwards instead of upwards.
It doesn't take very long to effect the brain and gives no indication of when it might happen. Once panic sets in its almost certain to end in a massive failure.
You can sometimes experience loss of spacial awareness when sat on a stationary train in a station and the train next to you moves off slowly making you believe your train is the one moving when it isn't.
Hearing Anglia Ruskin was a weird moment…
While I was a student there, ARU ranked higher (on the league table) than Aberystwyth - which is like 100 years older than ARU…
But ARU is still seen as “not Cambridge”.
A freestanding bath would take hundreds of tins of custard to fill it adequately but the dispersion when people got in would be equally massive compared to water.....having given that due consideration I am now considering my own sanity !!
An almost perfect blend 43 (rich, bold and premium) like serving of politics and smut. Thoroughly enjoyed. Keep it up 👍
This is what pisses me off. Netanyahu wanted by the Hague??? And???? Get him and jail him. Not adhering to any rules not even with civilians. Some others should get the same....nothing happens. Mass murder is ok it seems....
Xx
Didn't they issue the same order for George W Bush over Iraq? Nothing happened. What good is a ICJ with no teeth?
Chopper that crashed into pub was in Glasgow 2013.
'Crashed'
@DJWESG1 yeah, crashed. What insight other than that do you have?
@@DJWESG1 I mean, I saw that happen from my mates flat on the Clyde. It dropped out the sky, no autorotation where helicopters can glide which tells you the rotors aren't able to turn. Pretty consistent with the investigation that said it was a clutch failure.
@@ewanmatheson4235 Must have been a harrowing watch. I remember it like it was yesterday, as I lived in the city att. The news crew was quick off the mark too being only a few streets from the Clutha, in Renfield Street.

Anyone remember the chinook crash that took out most of the UK's senior Northern Ireland intelligence experts in 1994? 29 people were killed when it crashed (in fog of course) into a hillside on Mull of Kintyre. It was before the peace agreement and during tense talks between various parties. I've always thought it was suspicious, taking out many of those who had influence on the outcome of the talks. It was blamed on the pilots, then on the weather, then on the chinook itself, but with little definite consensus. (long story and deep rabbit hole for anyone interested)
I really don't see the UK government assassinating it's own experts in an attempt to get a peace agreement through. This is John Major, do you really see John Major making that call and no one coming forward.
It generally comes down to, flying in a mountainous area during foggy times is a classic "do stupid things, win stupid prices".
@@sciencefliestothemoon2305 I absolutely agree, yet it sets the alarm bels ringing when, in so many cases, they have packed all the "important" people into the same chopper before it wipes out.
@@johnners911 makes one wonder, but that nonsense happens all the time.
The Poles had such an incident with one of the twins too.
I laughed very hard when Ava said St Thomas, citizens arrest!
As I have seen colleagues there be placed under citizens arrest by Piers Corbyn 😂
Mossad with a dry ice machine? Hey I'm just asking questions?😂
Well I'm never unseeing this. Thanks a lot JOE.
Ava laughing at the rug cleaning has killed me
Helicopters are inherently dangerous - they've already killed two Premiership club owners - almost got Farage too. There was the Glasgow incident as well as Vauxhall. Think how rarely they are used to compared to the thousands of airplanes taking off each day.
had a helicopter insurance guy say to me "don't ever use a helicopter" pretty much as soon as I was introduced to him...
Pity about Farage
Just listened to your LBC on catch up. Very good. 👍
The Grim Reaper: the hoodie even DavCam couldn't hug...
I misread the title as “Netanyahu warned The Hague tuition fees set to rise” I was v.confused haha
There's an irony of Jacob Rees-Mogg talking about mickey mouse degrees. He studied history. Now I'm not going to denigrate history degrees or say that it's not a worthwhile subject (because unlike Tories, I don't see the only value in something to be financial), but let's be honest, no-one is studying history if they're basing their decision purely on a black and white financial return on investment. But that sums up the privilege of someone like Rees-Mogg, who can study history and then get a job at a hedge fund, before being handed a safe Tory seat by his well-connected friends in the party.
That thumbnail is going to give me nightmares
I tuned out for a second and came back to hear Oli talk about being naked and bailing custard out of a bath. Sounds about right 😂
On addition to their ... unique storage advantages, chest freezers are more efficient and so cheaper to run than upright freezers.
Universities do not make a loss on the average student, they are simply trying to maximise their profits. For example, if the chancellor of York University (who earns £288,562 annually) decided to take any amount of the universities £300 million of private investments in businesses and real estate, and invest it in education, we probably wouldn't "need" to raise fees.
The red brick uni i went to definitely weren't spending money on their biomed labs.
Foggy conditions require instrument flying, rarely practiced & it's also very easy to become disoriented with no visible horizon
Bailing the custard Bath: totally worth it 😂
To Ava's point about the graduate tax / loans.. They have already started. 2023 entrants will pay for longer - at a lower income tax threshold - than those that went in Sep '22
I’m with you Olly! I love a rug cleaning video ❤

I'm doing a distance masters at the moment, which has the same fees for local and international students, but next year, the international fees are going from 11 grand to over 17 grand.
Will ppl paying 17 be seen as more of a master than those paying 11?
Looking forward to the next episode of AircraftJOE 😂 Germanwings last week, helicopters this week, wander what’s next!
Your thumbnail for this video is a thing a beauty... 🤣
Can tell these two yuppies have never driven an old shitbox at speed through the lanes in a November fog bank on the way to be late to the morning shift at a factory.
Who still has a job at a factory in uk? 😂 Most people i know work in service sector
@@hephaestion12 True that, I've been in manufacturing for most of my working life and, the two jobs I did previously, the factories are now gone and housing estates stand in their place.

Sure the student loan repayment is taken into account when calculating affordability when taking out the mortgage. Why wouldn't it be?
Helicopters are death boxes with the king being the V22 Osprey, an aircraft engineered with bloodlust for US marines. So notoriously deadly it has its own wikipedia page just for its accidents.
You have to remember that Kier Starmer was the first person in his family to go to university. So surely he understands how the system needs to change.
loved it
I'm originally from Aberdeen and used to live right on the sea front on the 14th floor, seeing all the helicopters coming in from the North Sea. It wasn't unusual in heavy fog for helicopters to come out of the fog and find themselves level with my flat and have to swerve between the blocks of flats. Think it just comes down to visability.
Tony Santina? God that is frightening on so many levels.

shame their own country is such an unutterable failure... makes ya think tho!
Isn't fog just a really low cloud? Bit of a vital capability for aircraft is flying through clouds.
Nope. They are different. Fog is heavier.
Pilots under pressure I guess.
cant believe Ava left her bag on the table, absolute discrace
Oli "No-Boat-Pro-Stoat" Dugmore with his London-centric transport expectations, out here in the sticks you'd be happy with a bus every half hour!!
I think you need way more that 60 tins.
Sponge and custard 😂😂😂
Yeah that was a trifle much
Ava looks a little bit like Alan Carr in the thumbnail.
A love rug cleaning tiktoks
If the bath wasn't plumbed in surely then used tins rather than powder cause taps wouldnt work
The Hamas leaders are wanted too. Just for context.
I'm so confused, why have a bath that's not plumbed in?
For your hamsters to play in.
Aaaaah makes sense.
How can you commute if it only comes every half hour? Oh Oli lad, visit the north east for a day or two please!
Was about to say - that's the norm outside the London bubble.
So I think if I was removing sex custard 🍮 from my unplumbed bath. I would buy a mop bucket and use it to scoop the majority of the custard out. Then once you get it to a certain level you can use a mop.

Colin McRae, Kobe Bryant and now the president of Iran. Someone needs to stop these helicopters
Colin McRae unfortunately was operating a model of helicopter without the correct type rating license.
He still only had a single engine type rating license issued for a different aircraft.
He was flying a twin jet engine helicopter during the crash.
The phone video retrieved from the crash filmed by his passenger showed he was clowning around at low altitude over tall trees in an aircraft not designed for aerobatic flight manoeuvres.
I was able to read the final crash investigation report as i worked on helicopters at the time.
As a former helicopter technician and McRae fan it was a tough one for me but he was being reckless and with children onboard.
Air accidents are almost always a combination of factors and not one single thing.
The Iranian helicopter was likely poorly maintained due to US sanctions.
Bad weather and possibly a nervous inexperienced pilot under pressure of flying VIP's.
It probably didn't have Garmin GPS and weather radar onboard due to sanctions on Iran.
The two other aircraft accompanying it made the same route without issue.
Mountains and fog are a bad mix even for experienced military pilots with thousands of hours experience as a phenomenon called spacial awareness can make us not trust the instruments.
Kobe Bryants crash was poor visibility and bad flight planning by the pilot.
The helicopter model involved in Bryants accident has one of the highest safety records around.
So did Colin McRae's.
@ljt3084 presumably made all that much harder with the ability to create any type of weather at will.. or as on study reports 'we can create super cells of any size'. Creation of fog and suppression of fog was one of the first things they perfected decades and decades ago. I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but it doesn't help when half of all crashes are man made. Like half the weather.
The not-even-wikipedia knowledge of how the ICC/helicopters/iran works was pretty dire this time round. Pretty sure listeners will be leaving somehow negatively-informed lol
By the end I doubt it’s *just* custard.
Day ??? Of asking for a production team mic
Maybe with a button so they can choose when to chime in?
Don't tease us with mention of Sliders then not follow through. I bet they're really well used, too, and go all the way up.
Did Ava take a beta blocker today? She was on fire
Marshall, sounds like an S.O.S
Holy Wack! Unlyrical lyrics, Andre, youre f*****g right!
To the rap mobile, let’s go Marshall!
Boats are the best commute hands down if it's going your way.
I too enjoy rug cleaning videos, but at that segment I laughed so much I snorted and woke my cat up. She's disgusted at me, I'm disgusted at the custard, it's not a good day here and it's all PoliticsJoe podcast's fault.
That was hilarious for all the wrong reasons
Let's be honest, it was ana's bath
There's an alternate solution to this hypothetical "bathtub full of custard" situation. With proper planning, you film the session - with some Captain Birdseye-themed masks if they want anonymity - for OnlyFans. Then, you bottle the custard and sell it as merch on the channel. Sure, you still have to bottle the custard, but at least you're also making some money on the side to recoup your costs.
Try telling a countrie's president that you won't fly him because of the fog! If he wants to take the risk he'll take the risk.

It’s part serious but also light and funny. I find Novara and Owen Jones, for example, to be too serious and depressing in this age of terrible news

hi ed
Love custard
The end of comedy.
Lots of waffle. Easy listening but not much thwack. I feel it was most likely a regular helicopter crash but if your going to talk about conspiracies then why does nobody imagine that it's quite possible that people like this are under 24hour surveillance. If AI is tracking these people via satellite and other means they could easily be waiting for the perfect moment to attack to make it look like an accident. There is plenty of high tech that leaves no trace such as instrument jamming / hacking. Precision laser weapons and probably plenty of other things.
Day 11 of asking for a production team microphone
Lol, glove full of vaseline!
