- Kenyan President William Ruto has hit the reset button on his government, dismissing almost his entire cabinet in a surprise shake-up. The decision comes on the heels of nationwide protests against a finance bill that would have led to tax increases. While announcing the mass dismissal, President Ruto pledged to build a broad-based government and engage directly with his critics. But will it be enough to quell the anger of a nation?

Sylvanus Osoro (MP) says that we have a huge budget and the government had no option but to look for funds using the Finance Bill YET noone told these MPs to pass a humongous budget. Some of the things they budgeted for were:
1. Renovations worth millions of dollars for official residences for the President and his Deputy amid the dire economic situation
2. Luxurious travel of these MPs and other officials to places like Singapore, South Korea, Australia, UK, France etc for things they call "capacity building"
3. Financing offices created for woves of politicians such as the 1st Lady, 2nd lady and wife of the Prime CS so they can carry out mandates belonging to current institutions.
The ruling party MPs who are friends of Osoro walk around bragging how they bought expensive belts, watches, suits etc then he comes to Aljazeera to speak with ARROGANCE.
I'm very proud that Aljazeera brought this young man from the Communist Party. He is VERY INFORMED and has raised more issues which have angered the public.
You forgot the absurd salaries, travel allowances, car allowances, housing allowances, etc that all of the MPs get.

Its this kind of arrogance and selfishness that makes our young people prefer to die rather than see our beautiful country run down. For years Kenyans have been overtaxed and the money collected is more than enough to fund govt expenditure many time over. Osoro the problem is not paying taxes,the problem is how our taxes end in corruption.
Ososro should realize just because you are elected for 5 years and incompetent reperesntative, it doesn't mean we the citizen have to tolerate your incomptence for 5 years, our constitution has allowed the citizen to breach the contract legally and remove you from the position via requesting your resignation. Power belongs to the citizens, not the representatives. And everyone including myself in whatever postion can be replaced wether in public or private sector.

This assumption by Osoro that once people vote for a leader he/she is free to do what they want till the next elections is the main problem. Your employer is the voter .Hence whatever the voters want should be your compass.The kids have a right to be livid.This country is being run like a market.Some barely literate MPs with no known business donates $150k to a church and you expect us to pay more taxes ?So that our money can be siphoned away? My wife applied for Kenya Citizenship under new constitution some time in 2011 but this date the immigration department has not responded. File lost in other words give bride. Very common.
I'm Kenyan and my wife is Ethiopian, while all my kids have Kenyan citizenship, we applied for my wife's Kenyan citizenship in 2019 but to this day, we don't know what is going on because apparently we did not bribe anyone. We need to drain the swamp.

Kenyan problems started from the day Ruto decided to copy leadership notes from Uganda's M7. Forgetting that the dynamics in Uganda are not the same as those in Kenya.
