  • In 1249, Mystras became the seat of the Latin Principality of Achaea, established in 1205 after the conquest of Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade, and Prince William II Villehardouin, a grand-nephew of the Fourth Crusade historian Geoffrey of Villehardouin, built a palace there. Morea was Albanian. Many of them immigrated to Italy under the protection of Naples prince. There are still many songs in Albanian peaking of they had to leave Morea because of the coming turks.

Lmao get out charlatan. Everything about the town and the area is Byzantine and hence Greek - there are literally chronicles about it!. You were the Turks' slaves, you had no running to do.

_Stefan ya you’re so ignorant it’s hysterical. Without the Albanian language and culture Greece has no history. What that being you should be scare because the truth that if you’re Greek you’re actually Albanian Arvanite ha!

Get to work my dear ultranationalist Albanian friend, Morea is the entire Peloponnese peninsula. The Arvanites to whom you might be referring, consisted of a few villages on a part of the north east of Morea, (not the region you see on the video) and they self identified as Greek. Try to get over this fanaticism and understand that there are other cultures on this planet. No ancient Greeks were not Albanians, modern Greeks are not Albanians either, the French, the Japanese, Koreans, Ethiopians, Brazilians and are not Albanians. George Washington and Napoleon Bonaparte were not Albanians. Don’t you have a job? A hobby perhaps? There are lots of things that you could find interesting other than your ultranationalist ideology and the fairytales that have you ranting on the internet.

IT P my dear Modern Greek of Albanian blood descendant. You try to throw the argument with Cultures that have no relevancy here. It is true, the the modern Greek language is a neo language created consisting of a combination of Latin and Cyrillic/Albanian words, created for science more than anything. Historians have credited Napoleons background as being linked to Albanians, non Albanian historians. Even Napoleon was quoted as saying he speaks Albanian with his men and French with his women. Needless to say, maps of antiquity back up much of the Albanian struggle. Words from ILLIRIA, Aphrodite, ZEUS, and many more examples are found in the Albanian lexicon. I am not nationalist. In fact I’ve been raised in the US my entire life. However I am a global citizen and student of history. We cannot disregard the Albanian plight and struggle and the countless genocides committed by modern Greeks and other surrounding nations.... I love Modern Greece and modern Albania. However, the history Is interesting and we cannot turn a blind eye to the reality of history. You know how the xenophobic and bigoted Moderns Greeks are especially towards Albanians. More than likely from their Albanian blood. Even the Greek revolution was primary fought by ALBANIANS. Why then, can we not debate as men of logic but immediately attempt to discredit without comprehending? The evidence will inevitably prove one way or another. Be careful how you’ve treated people or who’ve you stepped on on the way up. Karma always comes around and that’s something every human on earth must deal with. Peace to you.

Get to work Ahahaha! I was going for a ridiculous assumption with Napoleon but you people actually believe that Napoleon is Albanian too? Good lord! You’re not nationalist at all! Ahahaha! Care to elaborate? What do you mean you’re a history student? I’d like to know since I have a degree in classics. In which university are you studying?
I understand that you from the moment you’re born you’re taught to hate Greek people my friend, but please do not say you’re not a nationalist just because you’re an Albanian American when you hold these extremist, ultranationalist views. Any linguist on the planet would find your claim that the Greek language is a constructed language at least laughable(aside from the fact that you believe Cyrillic is a language and not a writing system) . The fact that the Albanian language has Greek loanwords doesn’t make these words of Albanian origin and certainly doesn’t make Albanian an more valid, “older” language than Greek or a descendant to Ancient Greek(I’ve heard this ridiculous theory too). I love history and admire all cultures equally and I know that your extremist hateful views might be triggered by Greek nationalists but I find it interesting how fanaticism can someone adopt extremist fascist views about another nation. No my friend, Albanians have never been subject to genocide in Greece( if you actually know that the word means). Perhaps the only instance of anything close to ethnic cleansing was multiple period during the Ottoman rule when Tosk Albanians raided southern Greece and burnt Arvanites villages to the ground(yes the ones you consider your compatriots and have been subject to genocide by Greeks as you claim), but I’m sure youve never heard of these events because of your ultranationalist ideology. Both Greeks and Albanians have suffered from war and it’s true that Albanians have been victims of ethnic cleansing policies by neighboring nations but never by Greece. Try to educate yourself on the matter from non-nationalist Albanian sources. Try to use some reasoning. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous that you believe the entire Peloponnese was inhabited by Albanians just because of two dozen of Arvanites villages in a region as big as Sicily? Don’t you understand that it’s a gross exaggeration claiming that the Greek war of independence was fought by Albanians just because literally three Arvanites who self identified as Greek fought in it? You use these facts and exaggerate them to the point of fiction so that you can fit them in your extremist nationalist narrative and yet you claim you’re not nationalist?
No, Aphrodite and Zeus are not Albanian words, no, Albanians or people of Albanian ancestry haven’t been subject to any kind of ethnic cleansing by the Greek state, no the Greek war of independence was not fought primarily by Albanians(not even close) and no, Albanians are not a “pure holy nation” targeted by the evil, mixed Arab Greeks(I love how I’ve heard that from people who claim not to be racist). Racism existed and exists(to a lesser extent) on both sides. I personally do not have any Arvanite ancestry and neither do half the Greek people as your ridiculous propaganda teaches you, but I grew up among Albanian immigrants, my best friends have always been Albanians, I’ve had Albanian partners and I admire and love Albanian culture and the people. I understand this fondness of ultranationalist ideologies is a remnant of decades of communist oppression but it’s the 21st century. Open a book, study what interests you and stop being driven by hatred and hateful ideologies. Open your mind a tad bit and learn how to respect nations and cultures that haven’t harmed you in the slightest. Miremengjes.

Travel And Discover Morea is the Peloponnese, not a city and it has no relation whatsoever to Albanians other than a group called Arvanites who migrated to the region during the late Middle Ages, established a few villages in a north east part of Morea and self identified as Greeks(and still do). This person refers to the extremist nationalist Albanian ideology which claims that the Greek nation is an invention of the west and that Ancient Greeks were actually ancient Albanians. They believe that anything related to science is “western propaganda” which targets their nation and the “aryan Albanian race” the purity of which is endangered by the “Arab” Greeks. Great channel by the way!

Get to work The fact that you mistake an entire region larger than Sicily for a city is pretty representative of the factual accuracy of your ideology my friend. It’s not really a huge distortion of facts considering the other things you believe.

Of course not Albanian! Byzantines were mostly Greeks. Never the Albanians had any relation with Mystras and Morea! Also, Morea is not a city but the whole Peloponnese.
