  • A video of this awesome Tegiwa time attack K20 Clio 182 popped up on my timeline and thought I'd create a comparison video vs my MR2 for a bit of fun Very close indeed, less than a second in it. However the Clio owner has smashed this time by more than 3s since this video last year. Hope he doesn't mind the comparison video.
This was my first time driving the Island layout. Cant wait to go back!

A 270hp K20 that's in this thing would be mega in the ZZW30!

Wow, so clio 182 was slightly quicker? Ive just sold my 1zz mr2 and am torn between buying a 2zz mr2 or a clio 172/182/197. Naturally this video is very interesting for that reason!
    Any recommendations or advice?

Heads up, the Clio has a 270hp Honda K20 engine swap. The 2ZZ in an MR2 wasn't that far off despite being seriously down on power compared the the K20 powered Clio. A Clio with the stock motor won't be quite as effective...

      I can confirm a standard track spec Clio 172/182 won't be as quick as a track spec MR2 2ZZ. I know this as I owned a 192hp track spec Clio 182 👌

@MRS-2ZZ can I ask, is the 2ZZ good on the road? I have a 2004 MR2 I recently bought. Plan is to do some handling tweaks and if I still enjoy it in a years time, to start assembling the bits for a 2zz swap.
I keep hearing people say the 2zz lacks low down grunt compared to the 1zz. As in tte 1zz is a better road car engine as its more flexible. My argument is my mr2 is a weekend car so thats really not an issue as i want fun.

My MR2 2ZZ isn't great on the road due to how modified it is. A standard ish 2ZZ swap would make a great weekend car. Just drop a cog or 2 to engage lift and away you go.
