    Don't forget that when the plants return outside next spring there is another key step to ensure plant happiness: ruclips.net/video/4jNn8LgV6jg/видео.html

    :) you might be the first RUclips gardener I have heard warn about the difference between detergent and soap :)
    Massive thumbs up

      Aww thank you! I’m a nerd with toiletries and ingredient lists, it’s grown from there. It all started as a kid after watching “popular mechanics for kids”, on an episode of animal fat drippings mixing with ash and bubbling and from there came soap... I was flabbergasted and had to know more about this product we use everyday (hopefully 😉).

      Me too! 2020’s weather has been as much of a roller coaster as the politics, crime, and general public well being 😬 we’ll likely have a bunch more beautiful hot days, and be cutting grass right into November but also... frost! This year’s growing season went too fast.

      @@BuyingThyme It really did...even here on the west coast we're seeing cold nights already and the cloudy days are back...

    • @BuyingThyme
      @BuyingThyme  4 года назад

      Is the smoke impacting weather at all? Clouds prevent frost but I’m not sure if smoke would have the same effect

    We brought in a colony of ants last winter... and do not plan on repeating that this season. Thanks for sharing!

      Oh boy. 😬 We had a colony on our doorstep this month that we tackled in the September garden tour. Definitely didn’t want them migrating indoors as temps cool

    Can you make a video if how you treat the soil you remove? I never know what to do with it besides just put it in my outdoor garden!

    Very very helpful. Unfortunately my basement was flooded and so my office/plant room is not available at this time for me to bring things indoors. I’m going to have to make it work somehow. This is much better then what I usually do with Bonide insect pellets. Thanks for video. Very thorough. 🥰

      RB the Garden Nanny, LLC oh no!! With additional humans in our house this year I have a lot less space too. 😒 bit it keeps me in check with impulse purchases too!

    This video was so helpful! Thank you so much. Do you have a certain ratio you use for the soup and water wash? I have Peppermint Castile soap that i was going to use with water in a big plastic storage bin to soak all my plants, but i didn't want over or under do it.

      @BuyingThyme  4 года назад +3

      Sarah Dixon even when cooking, I eyeball everything. What I look for is a good amount of bubbles, but I don’t want the texture of the water to be thick or gloopy. Castile soap won’t bubble as much. It’s a similar ratio to that of washing dishes. Enough to cut the grease but not so much that it’s wasteful or bubbling everywhere. 😬 clear as dawn right? 🤪

    Can you use this method for herbs and pepper plants as well?

    • @BuyingThyme
      @BuyingThyme  3 года назад

      Yup. I’ve done it with hot peppers. Herbs I don’t find worth the effort and usually just start a new batch from seed indoors.

    How long do you quarantine the plant?

  • @VegetableGrowingForBeginners
    @VegetableGrowingForBeginners 4 года назад

    Very informative, thank you. We don’t have house plants these days so don’t have problems......it’s a lot of work.you obviously care about your plants.
    We can’t get Dawn in the U.K.........my alter ego Professor Bubble Pop wishes we could as it makes great bubbles,evidently but we can’t get it so I use ‘Fairy Liquid Original’ in my bubble concoction.

    • @BuyingThyme
      @BuyingThyme  4 года назад

      Dawn does make excellent bubbles! We like doing frozen bubbles in the winter with a dawn mixture too!! I don’t think I’ve seen professor bubble yet... has he debuted on your channel before?

    • @VegetableGrowingForBeginners
      @VegetableGrowingForBeginners 4 года назад

      Buying Thyme no, he has his own channel but I don’t really use it.....it was my own private channel but when lockdown came I changed the name and used it to put some videos up to entertain children stuck indoors. He’s my persona who I go out doing children’s parties as. He makes huge bubbles, does lots of crazy dancing and a bit of silly magic and puts children and adults inside a huge bubble! Hope I may be able to party again soon but not looking likely over here in U.K., for a while yet (maybe a second lockdown coming) . Professor Bubble Pop ...he is also on Facebook and insta as am I .

      Buying Thyme yes, it will affect us all but in different ways. Everyone will have to adjust....I fear at my age we’re losing time we’ll never make up for .

    Certainly there are many ways to debug your plants before bringing them. I agree with a lot of the thoughts here but I do things a little different. Not sure I trust castile or dawn to kill all critters on the plants. I prefer to use 100% neem oil which contains azadiractin which will kill any insects. I use this in a bucket in which I will soak the roots, but not the foliage. For the foliage I like to pyrethrin which is derived from chrysanthemums.
