- Christine demonstrates how she debugs her plants before bring them inside to join her indoor urban jungle. The last thing she wants is even more bugs to contend with. How will she deal with having over 200 plants in her living room? After making space in her earlier video Winter is Coming: Prepare Your Plants! now they're ready to come inside.

Thank you for your tips! And you have a wonderful plant collection
so helpful, thank you!! i'm going to use this for my tomato plant to bring it in, but i'm thinking i'm going to have to propogate my maaassssssive coleus into different pots because i don't think it will fit in my humble apartment :P
I absolutely love your video. As for your sprayer not working for a little while. Add more water oh, you may have put in too much to dish soap. That's soap has a tendency to be thick, and that's probably why it won't go through your sprayer as well.
you're probably right! I have been taking better care of my spray bottles by spraying hot/warm water through it and its been helping! Thank you!
Good video.. have you tried companion planting next to certain plants. Like Basil, garlic or chives?
How did you dispose of the water afterwards? Also, did you reuse the water or did you start with clean water after every plant?
Very useful video, thank you and hello!!!! 😀
I should finally start disinfecting the gazillion plants that will have to come inside, although at this point, I think it'll be easier to just cover them when (and if) winter comes... It's mid November and our high temperatures are 22-24°C, insane!!! I have a few videos too and hopefully a tour might be up soon-ish. I do struggle with a new freaky new pest though, so I still need to treat them. I might use your method for some of those.
Have a great weekend!! 😊
Hi Valium's Urban Jungle! Thank you! I am so happy you found it useful! yeah bring in plants is such a nightmare but you got to do what you got to do! Good luck! Have a wonderful weekend!
@@BotanicalWoman thank you so much, I'll see if I can get away with just making a good shelter for the cold nights and leave them outdoors. They look so great were they are now, they seem so healthy, and it'll definitely save me a lot of time, but I'll see what I'll do. 😊
You skipped the step two!!! I am guessing it’s the soap, but what kind? How much?
Why no response to this to tell us what “soap” and how much was used- Botanical Woman you responded to other comments and skip this one!? 🤷♀️
I want to know the answer to that question as well.
I replayed looking for this same answer. 🤷♀️ I thought my adhd kicked in and I missed that part🤣😭

Ik it's a year later, but she said in another comment that she uses Castile Soap.
Awesome thank you so much, I tried this tactic out! Also, I was wondering if you could give some advice about tightly packed soil:
When I repotted my new plants, I ended up packing the soil tight around my plants. I have ALOT of plants that I repotted this way, and I'm so worried that I'll stunt their growths or cause root rot. I was wondering what you would do about this? Keep poking chopsticks in the soil, or repot them altogether?
Thank you and keep up the AMAZING work!!
yeah poking to loosen it up sounds good.
Is it me or did you go from step 1 to step 3? What soap did you use?
What kind of soap did you use?
Hello, I’m trying to find out how do I clean and prepare sticks, branches roots, before bringing them into my home, can you help please thank you
Thanks for sharing. Is it still necessary to re-pot the plant with new potting mix after the bath? I see other videos recommending that.
I haven't done so but I can see why you might want to as an additional safety measure.
Thank YOU!!! very imnformative and user friendly for meat 72 yo.. You shgoukld be on cable show!!
You can also just spray the whole plant a few times outside before beinging them in. Works just as well, less messy too.
What kind of soap and how much? Did this work for you ? I really don’t want to have to wash the soil off and start over . I have 75 or so succulents I need to bring in . Thank you 😊
never heard what kind of soap? please let us know.
Do you have any tips on how to get your plants to dry after this process? I have a problem with fungus gnats and I feel like the soaked soil might draw them in (from who knows where.)
So I have an on going fungus gnat problem as well and recently started adding diluted hydrogen peroxide to my water to kill the larvae and I would recommend doing this until you stop seeing any adults flying around. For the adults, as they are super annoying, I use the yellow sticky tapes. Like all solutions, staying consistent is the key which I have a difficult time doing because sometimes I spray how my plants at sink instead of watering from the can. I do my best and keep up with it. I find that hydrogen peroxide is easier for me to use then mosquito bits because when I run out of water in the can, i just add more HP but with MBs, you can't really do as they need to be soaked to release. I guess it boils down to how large of a water reserve you can have and i live in a small apt and keeping a 2 gallon watering can is all I can really do. Hope this helps! =)
Botanical Woman Yes thank you! How do you get your plants to dry afterwards though?
@@lifeaccordingtome4283 I just let it dry out naturally, nothing special. add hydrogen peroxide to your bath, in addition to the castile soap. =)
nice
Thank you!

Question,Is that a cold ops hot humidifier you have going. And should I have it on 24/7?
Someone told me, actually going back before you were born I am sure the 1970's there were plants all over to buy even in Macy's! The young person who was in charge of this one Plant Boutique, said: there is no such thing as a house plant" And I was baffled at first, but I guess she was right because plants should be outdoors so I think the humidifier you have is a great idea.
I honestly don't use humidifiers anymore mainly because I live in the PNW where is not very dry to that end I have also found that using boxes, whether that is a greenhouse or a plastic box is best if you really want humidity have a major affect on your plant growth
I tried this but my plants just float, and in some cases the whole plant came out of the pot
how do you keep your calathea orbifolia from getting black edges? what soap did you use?
I have three orbs, two inside a box, doing great, one in open air and it's miserable and it's too big to fit into a box. So that tells me it's humidity so raise the humidity to like 90%. But if you growing it in open air, it's going to be really hard, maybe moving it into the bathroom? I use Castile soap.
How much soap
Where can I find peroxide that’s that strength?
I got it at my local hyproponic store
Oh noo rip selloum 😭
Where did you get your black grow light clamp?
Home Depot, that's where I got all three of them
Thrips bane of my exist
Thanks!!
That really sucks you couldn’t save it, but I’m sure you avoided an infestation by not trying toooo long!
I honestly dont think I threw it a away fast enough...😭
Okay so one gallon of water gets 1 TBSP of soap and peroxide. Then leave for 15 minutes?
sorry i don't have the formula memorized but if thats what the video says then yes. =)
@@BotanicalWoman You don't mention it in the video unfortunately, there is just a mention of the amount of peroxyde, but nothing about the soap you use. Had to read the comments to see what soap you are using.
Good job but man you are going to be working to get all the plants done in time! WHEW!!!!
lol true story! #plantmomlife =) 💚 Winters in the PNW are quite mild and I don't bring my plants in until the low temperatures drop below 45 degrees and for me that means mid oct/ early november so I have time.
I have time too so I took your advise and made a bucket of dish soap, peroxide and water and soaked some of my delicate plants and bonsai to bring in. It seemed to work well! All of my plants are doing great weeks later.....But..... there was a little baby frog that snuck in with the Money tree! 🤣
Is this safe for mums and all plants
I don't see why not.
Does this method work to kill aphids in the soil?
I haven't tried it so i don't know
Is that insecticidal soap??
No just Castile soap
What’s the water temperature? Like cold water hot water or in between?
I have used hot water right out of my tap, it does help kill mealie bugs but just becareful of burning your plants. It shouldn't be more then 110 degrees F.? If I remember correctly
Still not sure of how much soap?
I don't remember off the top of my head but I believe I talked about it in my murder spray video
You mention soap but you dont say what kind of soap?
I have giant potted plants?
spray then...hoes it down with water first to try and blast as many of them off. then make the solution and spray. its time consuming and you will get really strong hand muscles
Thank you
soap? wasn't in your original recipe , confusing.
What kind of soap…
Castile soap
Yea...no. I'll give plants away before I bring outdoor plants inside. I don't do bugs.
lol 😂
What kind of soap are you using?
castile...i will be posting a video soon on this
