If your GPA is less than a 2.0 . . . you're either on academic probation or academic suspension. I wouldn't even recommend a post-bacc. I would ask the student to question their overall goals in academics.
I see where you're coming from, but there are many different reasons for a GPA < 2.0. Many peers that I've had the pleasure of teaching had adverse life events or came from high schools that didn't prepare them as well for the pace of undergrad as other high schools could. I'd certainly not ignore a low GPA, but I certainly wouldn't judge a person in accordance with their GPA.
