I got my start in Law Enforcement as an Explorer. I have worked everything from dispatch to detention center to patrol. Awesome to see this still going strong.

This looks like a really solid and well run explorer post unlike so many! These explorers seem far more mature and much better candidates for law enforcement!

You are probably of age now but if you are really into it, some agencies actually take 13 year olds.

I think if I were to see an evolution here, there would be options. Many young adults may want to serve as Mental-Health Deputies, if they even knew that the position existed and is in need. I don't see the yelling, during training, to be helpful at all. I'm not sure that I would even respond if someone was yelling near my face. I may even step away. If it wouldn't serve my vision for serving, or how I would ever plan to act towards any individual, then there is no need for me to endure it. Yelling reflects a last resort, because it creates fear. But, for individuals who suffer from disorders and/or mental illnesses, it can create disarray and drastic decision-making. The amount of Police-involved shootings, which later were found to involve those diagnosed with a mental illness, was 25% just a few years back. Today, even Officers are committing suicide at unacceptably-rising paces. I wonder, for up & coming youth interested in becoming LE, if we are trying to peak ANY interest at all for becoming Mental-health Deputies. The need, today, is greater than ever. Especially with prison reform passed at the Presidential Level. We are going to see more folks, not yet diagnosed, back out into the public arena. Prison & Jail doesn't rehabilitate #MentalHealth problems. Only #Care does that. A Mental-health Deputy is specially-trained to be the best, for that, that #LawEnforcement has to offer.
