Man, DT"s is the BEST. That's about 40 minutes from us here in Burnsville and I get my haircut in Spruce Pine. I ALWAYS stop in for breakfast and coffee. Love your videos. As a new rider, with new bike(s) (Long story), I'm going to use these for a lot of inspiration.
Fantastic review, Staci! Little Switzerland has been on my "to-do" list for a long time and I really need to make it happen, especially after watching this. I think I know what I'll be doing in a few months. ;) Thanks for the recommendations! Cheers!
Quality as always! 2 things...1, do you get anxious sometimes filming by yourself? (Eating dinner solo) 2, could we get some uncut riding footage through some of those beautiful roadways? Like asmr style? Thanks again
Haha yes it’s always nerve wracking when people stare at me like I’m doing something wrong when in reality I’m working 😂 No ASMR from this trip more than likely as it’s all 360 footage and is a pain to put together, but maybe! I’m over a year behind on edits right now. My priority is catching up on what I’ve already filmed 😊
Been on BRP couple of times, but never been to that Little Switzerland area. You added another destination to my bucket list, as you usually do. Your usual excellence of content and video Staci. Thanks
Thanks Wayne! Its a good ride from Asheville up to Little Switz, assuming you don't stop anywhere along the way, and then if you continue on you're about 45 minutes from Blowing Rock and the Linn Cove Viaduct. Great ride!
I just moved to NC in July of 23. Now I have to check this out. I originally rode my 2022 Harley Davidson Electra glide from Oregon through 14 states over the course of 11 days and 4700 miles. I came into NC from TN via 129 and I rode The trail of the dragon. As always I love your videos, and I wish I put down the miles you do. Keep the shiny side up, and I look forward to your next video.
Sounds like you put down some great miles!! You have quite the playground of epic riding in your backyard to explore. And it's "almost" springtime! As always, thanks for watching!
You are a natural at making great videos Staci! Yours are probably some of my favourites on RUclips. Epic views, great on-bike shots and brilliant commentary with loads of information. If i ever get to the States I'd love to ride some of the roads you have featured, biker heaven! Keep those videos coming please!!
We can’t get enough of the Blue Ridge Parkway or Noth Carolina. I just made reservations for our 30th wedding anniversary in February in Waynesville. Looking forward to it and we will be going back this summer for at least a week to ride the area!!
Love it! Thanks so, so much for a great overview of this area. It all looks great and thanks for the tips! I have to get by on your videos for a few more months as it's full-on winter here in Colorado, but that doesn't stop me from making plans, lists and reservations!
We were in the area last June. Huge front rolled through, they talked about flooding etc. We got out in the nic of time, coming down 226A in a torrential down pour. Water literally sheeting off the mountain. We got to Marion and there was probably 3"-4" or water on the roads. We finally got ahead of the front heading east. Epic adventure that I don't care to repeat. We stayed at Big Lynn Lodge, also recommended, not fancy but a nice clean place to stay, meals included. (Not filet mignon, but good)
Love this area, my mountain home away from home is just down 226A from Little Switzerland in Turkey Cove. My home is on one of the switch back curves. When I'm not out riding I can kick back on the front porch and watch everyone else ride by
It occurred to me that your channel is the modern-day format of the old time "Rip's Run" from the ancient days of printed material!😂 Except for the food that is. I don't recall Rip writing much about food. He wrote about rides he did/would take and make ya' want to be there! You know, like you! Thanks.
Great video! I live in NC and will probably NEVER run out of beautiful rides. There are so many twisty-packed roads in VA, NC an TN that lead up to the BRP, so it's easy to make circuit rides up and down the slopes. And there are lots of places to stay/camp/eat. Happy trails!
I sent this video to m CVMA chapter friends, told them we absolutely need to add this trip this year, they agreed. I'll be sure to tag you during our trip, which should be in either late spring or early fall. I appreciate you taking the time to explore and share this awesome place! Ride safe! You rule
Nice video. I starting riding that area last year will have to check out the whip. I stayed at Big Lyn Lodge. A different sort of experience but great.
STACI!!!!!!!!! Great Video! I havent made it there in the several times I've been to the dragon, but I'm going the next time Lord willing! Thanks for posting!
Really enjoyed this video. Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive is one of my favorite rides in the country! Never knew about Little Switzerland ,thanks, I will be visiting there for sure! Great video.
I live about two hours east of there in Winston-Salem so I go up there every year for a few days. I usually stay at the Big Lynn Lodge just down the road from where you were. I agree that the Devil's Whip is a better ride than the Diamond Back. If you are ever in that area again, try a ride up to Banner Elk. It's a foodie's dreamland!
I really enjoy your content! Great editing, very informative, good old vibes flowing all the time. Thanks for what you do! Keep on keepin on! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Another great video Staci.!! I've heard of the little Switzerland many times but I've never stopped by on any of my trips there. Looks like a great place. But like you mentioned. It's usually not in my budget to stay there. Thanks for the great video.
Hi ,We just missed each other by a week in the Smokey Mountains. I was riding the Smokies during the second week into the third week of October. Would have made my day to share a meal and a beer or two with ya...
Looking into this. I'm starting to put my East Coast trip together for this year. Tail of the dragon and Blue ridge park way are on the top of the list. trying to hit SC, NC, VA, WV for sure maybe MD, and DE as well.
I live in Charlotte and that part of the Blue Ridge area is my favorite ride. It is a lot less crowded than the more "popular" rodes.I have family in several areas so always have a free place to stay so that's a bonus too 😂
Now you’re talking! Bubba J and I love riding to ice cream shops. Bubba J is my son. That is definitely some of the most beautiful country to ride in. We’ll get back there one day
I ride that area often. May I recommend riding HWY-209 from Waynesville to Hot Springs,NC. The northern half of Hwy-209 is knonw as "The Rattler" and will give you all the tight technical twisties you want. Not recommended for begininng riders. I will comment, The Rattler is more technical than The Tail of The Dragon.
First time I rode 80 it was unplanned; came out of Asheville thinking I'd ride all the way up the BRP, then realized that would take way too long (had to get home that night). Came to 80, pulled off and saw by the map it would get me to 40, so I headed down with no clue what was coming! Sign at the top that says "Steep winding road ahead" is no joke, as you've seen! Been back several times since, ridden both down and up along with the full Diamondback loop of 226/226A, but haven't eaten there except for the outrageous pumpkin cheesecake at the Little Switzerland cafe.
I imagine it's seasonal, I was there in Oct. '22, missed going back this past Oct. as the day I'd have gone was the one day it rained steadily the week I was down that way. If you get up to the Seneca Rocks area of WV, check out Gateway Restaurant; it's at the foot of the road that goes to the top of Spruce Knob, highest point in WV. Good food, not spectacular, but the pies are so good I made a fifty-mile detour to get lunch there on the way to New River Gorge last year.
You can read about all the camera gear I use at RideToFood.com/camera-gear tips: start filming and editing - it’s not an overnight success. Utilize RUclips accounts that teach people how to film and use camera gear. Lots of great tech channels out there!

👍👍👍👍👍 The drone footage of the roads and trees are GREAT!!! That is the October photo on your calender. Thanks for sharing Staci!!!
It is!!!! Thanks for ordering one! :)
Only 230 miles from my house and I've never been there. I need to go get some of that filet and pie 👍
Great video thank you very well done. I have been there and I agree with you. So many great roads. Thanks again cheers to ya.
Glad you enjoyed it!!

Wonderful video as always. And for the next time you get to rip on a HD Pan America, the Trans America Trail also passes through Little Switzerland!

You’re fantastic. Your entire presentation is fantastic. I’m hoping to ride down from Central Ontario this summer. My goal is Martinsburg WV.

Loved this video! Little Switzerland looks amazing! The peanut butter chocolate pie pushed me over the edge.
Hahaha the pie was well worth it. Insanely rich in flavor but worth it
October, Blue Ridge Mtn"s, fried green tomatoes, yep, home run. Thanks for sharing, Ride Free
Amazing job as always. We are in a blizzard so I live through videos like this
editing em in the winter keeps me sane, too! haha thank you for watching!
That peanut butter chocolate pie looked amazing!
It was pretty dang good!!!
Young lady, I recently found you, I've been playing catch-up. All your rides look so nice. Glad you are able to do this.
I mean, it’s a full time job lol!
Ive been all up in there, I live 45 minutes away and yes Devils whip is nice!
Awesome 👍 I didn’t ride 80 when I was there last month, but I did ride 226A and thought it was great. So 80 must be really good!
Next time you're in Little Switz you've got to ride NORTH on 80! Hugely entertaining!
Beautiful area, I go through Spruce Pine every day, M-F. Glad you enjoyed our part of the state!

Thank you glad you enjoyed it! I edit them as fast as humanly possible

Thanks for the video 👍👍
Another great video Staci! Planning how I can work this area into a “Family visit” trip out to the east coast… Thanks!

That peanut butter pie!! 😍

Which month this video was taken ? Amazing colors
October!
Is this video related to solo motorcycle camping and driving or just eating foods?
You probably could have answered your own question significantly faster by watching the video than waiting on a response. 😂
excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
