Private equity has also been buying up trailer parks and tripling the rents! People are arguing about being able to live in their cars but the real enemy is the terrible way the ownership of residential property has gone into insanely greedy hands
California also does not zone for low income housing to meet the needs of low income citizens. But everyone working at the restaurants you frequent are low-income. Why make the poorest class of people take on such a burden as commuting? Being snobby towards poor people is what Republicans do. Apparently Democrat states, too. Remember the low-income folks rent apartments. You left them out of your talk about houses.
thats socialism. move to canada is u like that system
Many working class people are forced to live in vehicles because rent is wayyyy to high. My house payment was $375/mo in 2008 when I purchased this house new. I could rent it for $1500/mo today. That’s ridiculous!
The only reason this is an issue is that the government can't charge you for all the normal taxes.
It's the whole not in my back yard mentality that disgusts me. These people aren't hurting anyone, and the sky-high rents are insane. Leave them alone.
Over 35,000 of the homeless population in America are war veterans.
Nobody fucking cares about the privilege of ungrateful assholes who harass the patriots who made it possible.
How do u know they aren't hurting anyone? U think it helps homeowner property values having those vans parked all over? U want to see people missing and shitting in the streets?
So right Maria ! I don't want my kids, grandkids, or great- grandkids exposed to selfish homeless junkies & THEIR SELF-INFLICTED PROBLEMS!!!
Rich people getting mad other people exist.
@Johnis2nd really? Is that what they are doing? You're absolutely ridiculous- can't have an intelligent discussion with someone who'd make such an ignorant comment.
2020: The problem is people can't afford rent
2024: The problem is people are living in their cars
2028: The problem is people are breathing air and eating food
2032: Why are there even people?
I see where this is going. :-(
I'm CHOOSING to be HOUSELESS... Not HOMELESS. Big difference. I'm sick of the headache of owning a home. On top of the costs. Property taxes and homeowner insurance have MORE THAN DOUBLED in the last 5 years!! It's ridiculous. Can't wait to get my van/tiny home built and get out on the road to freedom
I'm not choosing to live in my car. Give me an affordable apartment then. Until then, if I'm not bothering anyone or doing anything nasty like public urination, then shut up and stay in your nice home.
People are living in their vans! Oh the horror! Call the news!
😂
There should be no controversy. People have the right to live in dignity and freedom.
Hahaha Yeah, that's dignity, alright.
@MrsPicklesIsHome Yes. Living in dignity!! Incase it has slipped your mind many Americans are struggling to afford housing in 2024. If you do the math, you'll see that in order to afford an apartment @$1300.00 per month as well as the landlords demands on × 3 monthly income you'll see that one must make 4000 dollars per month to afford that. That's $30.00 an hour income. Do the math. Don't sit on here trying to act like a jerk.
@MrsPicklesIsHome it appears that you don't have respect for people who just want to survive. They deserve to survive as well. Where would you like people to go who don't make $30.00 per hour @ 40 hours every week? Seriously where ??? Ignorance at its finest.
@MrsPicklesIsHome and $1300.00 a month is a cheaper version of what the rents are like out here. Many places it's almost 2 grand a month.
Its one thing to say people are forced to live in their car, its another when someone chooses to reside in their vehicle but also abide by laws when they do it.
💯👍
rich people always complaining about something.
Need more dedicated camping areas with nominal amenities and fees.
Exactly!!!!!
Provide places for them. The vehicle is their shelter. Have compassion.
@@valeriekehrt7566 One thing I have noticed in the last 20 years is that compassion and empath are disappearing from our society.
They’re charging more than rent for tent area rentals! It’s insane
@@aprilsview2795most are over $20 and that's without hookups . I'm sorry but I'll have to pass on that
We have entered crazy land. People want homeless citizens gone while cheering for homeless immigrants to come into their communities.
Very good point.
They want to pay people like dirt but not see the results of it
Most people are not cheering for homeless immigrants. It's getting shoved down our throats by a tiny but powerful out of control federal government.
@joekev27 Why? What is the point of you posting such idiotic hyperbole? Is it because your parents are each others brother and sister?
@@user-wt5bf4rw7e "Jski" posts idiotic shit like that, because he doesn't have enough integrity to talk shit from behind his real name and never has to have accountability for his belligerence. He is either a coward or a Russian, but either way, not worth anybody's time.
How about a law that states, If any mobile vehicle or structure is used as an rv or home, they have to be on private property or an RV park or get towed after 24 hours?
In the car,is better than on the Streets..
Well, making owning a house impossible, cant even sleep in our own cars? Ridiculous!
Not in a parking lot where it says NO OVERNIGHT PARKING. The laws don't apply to these people? What does the cost of rent have to do with these particular people parking in this particular parking lot where it is not allowed? MOVE YOUR FREAKING VEHICLE. IT'S NOT A RESORT.
@@MrsPicklesIsHome I'm a vanlifer and I agree. I don't stay anywhere longer than a few days and never park anywhere I'm not allowed even if it means driving a hundred miles to find a place I am. In addition to my day job that's 100% remote, I own a business and a lot of my customers don't mind if I park in their lot overnight. It's added security for them. Also I'm 100% self contained as are most other vanlifers I know of. I've never seen a vanlifer peeing outside their vehicle. I've seen plenty of homeless people do it, all around the country. Vanlifers aren't 'homeless' they are 'houseless', there's a freaking difference. Just because you're a slave to your 30 year mortgage, don't blame us.
I am a homeowner. No matter where you live, there are circumstances that may or may not add to your discomfort. Live by a golf course, baseball field, you may endup with broken windows. Live by a school, you wil have kids walking by, late night games, dances, etc. If you live at a big lake, you will have campers. If you live by the beach (you lucky duck), you will have beach goers. I personally wouldn't want a house on the beach for that reason. Look at Spring Break!! I do however have my van to periodically vanlife in.......
Corporations are buying up trailer parks and charging insane rental prices!! They bought 5 right around me in Virginia. Unacceptable!!!
Where do you want these folks to go? Free country
A big problem bc the dam city refuses to set up full time unisex restrooms for residents, in secure areas, so that people can live in the vans in a healthy environment. No one wants to urinate in the road! Duh!
Leave ppl alone!!! Stop telling people how they should live their life! Make it affordable to live and people would be much happier than having to live in their car! Sick and tired of ppl telling ppl how to live without help! Especially our government that are spending our hard earned money on their raises and their own special interest groups. Buzz off!!
