This was a good match overall. Montreal busted their asses working and were able to steal an OT point, but they lost against the elite of the NHL. Now, all they need is consistency.
As a die hard Bruins guy, I was actually rooting for Montreal big time in this game. I'm actually getting tired of seeing Montreal staying at the bottom of the league. We in Boston are rooting for you next season Montreal. Your fans deserve better. I can think of nothing more exciting than facing the Canadiens in 7 games for the conference finals next year.
Never against Oilers in any way but they are really fun to watch. Whenever puck carrier is getting crowded out there is always someone entering the zone against the flow creating space to the net. That's so frustrating for the defence.
As a Montreal fan, this game was so frustrating. I appreciate the effort, but a loss in overtime is worse than a loss in regulation. They still lose and add a point to push themselves even farther away from a top draft pick.
I root for the oilers but i dont understand how draisait keeps getting away with it. Hel is literally ALWAYS in that spot and you see him in the replay sneaking behind the players and in front of the goalie to his one-timer location and NOBODY ever covers him. Did the montreal goalie not say something? are all nhl players so oblivious. I know connor mcdavid is scary with the puck but commit 2 of the 3 on him and ALWAYS keep an eye on drai.
If the Habs were facing a US team, then there would've been a 5-on-3 late in the game. Standard operating procedure. But up against another canuck team, the refs can only conjure up a 5min major. Score at will. Refs' red phone is an open line to Bettman (or his accounting firm).
Glad we ended up with the vital two points, but I wasn't impressed with the effort, especially in the third period. Montreal played a great game and fully deserved the point they got. The hight stick penalty against Armia was a bad call. Armia was chasing the puck and Kane blocked him on its way and that led to the high sticks. Kane should've get an interference penalty. It's the same logic as someone pushing an forward into his own goalie, you can't do that.
