There may be some people who have managed to survive locally for all those generations, but to say that Iraqis in general are genetically linked to the Babylonians of the past, you'd need to have enough of a clear genetic link in a sizable portion of the population to make that claim. As far as I know, no such study has been made. That doesn't mean that Iraqis can't be proud of having Babylon. It is after all part of the history of the land they live in. But of those who came before, and may in some minuscule way still remain, but not as direct ancestors.
