It's finally back! I'm really glad this show has returned to our screens for season 7 part 2. What did you think of the first episode? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
I was disappointed. When people are reunited after that long a time I would expect more of a reaction. When Claire leaves like she did they were so blase about it. She may never come back. Too Shallow. Claires look so many times was condescending.
Well, Laura Donnely stated years ago she wouldn't return to play Jenny in her 50s. So recasting was the only option. I thought the new actress did very well. In her facial expressions and emotional scenes she brought the character very much alive.
Laura Donnelly is a great actress. She has always been destined for a fine career. She could not stand still for several years as she last appears in season three. Some other solution needed to be found. Give Kristen Stewart a chance. She has big shoes to fill.
I have not read the books, I've been a fan since the beginning. Jamie's father answering the door was a surprise, but not shocking. Gellis answering the door was shocking!
Love the show, but can someone explain to me how this plotline makes sense? Lord John’s nephew has two musket balls in his body and can’t travel to England. Lord John writes letters and sends them to multiple places trying to find Claire and have her travel back to perform the surgery. This must’ve taken several months. Now Claire will sail back to America which will take several more months. The nephew has to somehow get by for what, six months or more with two bullets in him? Also, in what world does Jamie let Claire sail across the Atlantic without him with her? Just saying this plotline is dubious, at least. Below par for this show, I’m afraid.
I believe (if I'm remembering correctly?) that this portion of the storyline is brought up in ONE if the Lord John books - I just can't remember for sure! Maybe someone else has recently reread the books and will be able to comment?
I do not think how this make sense .Would take months tp get there on a dangerous journey and maybe the person she is going to save will not be alive by the time she got there .I think the plotline is to to make the nest twist ahead according to the books .
This bothers me too. I understand they had to make some changes from the book, and this puzzled me how they would solve it without overcomplicating things. They did not succeed imho. Travelling that distance separated from Jamie for a person she has never even met? And even more, to leave Jamie to face the death of his best friend, BIL, basically brother on his own? No, it takes more than a relative to a friend who she might not reach in time and might still not be able to help.
Did they cut the wigs budget as well? Laoghaire is supposed to be in her 50s' now, but the actress still looks around 30-32. On season 3 they actually gave her a grey wig, so what happened? Or maybe she discovered how to make hair (leg hair) dye?
It's going to take me a bit to get re-connected to Outlander. I really loved this series seasons 1-5 but lost it's luster for me between a global pandemic and writers strike and just too much time between seasons but i'm trying. Truth is nothing will ever measure up to Shogun and more recently Penguin in the 20-20's. None the less i enjoy your reviews and insights and would be lost without them. Well done as always BrainPilot.
I was so surprised when I was watching this episode with the new actress (Kristin Atherton) playing Jenny. What happened to Laura Donnelly (the original Jenny)?
When an episode is so peaceful you know we're in for a rough ride. Though im watching GOT for the first time and I love how no matter the trauma Outlander brings restoration and reconciliation most of the time, unlike GOT. So episode 9 was a nice way to ease back in.. i was shocked to see a new Jenny but the new lady did well, i loved the shock when we thought jamie was opening the door to roger! I think its ridiculous that Clair got a letter from John to come back to do a surgery... it takes weeks or a month or so to even get back to America so it makes no sense. Was that in the book? And honestly I think its sus that you're supposedly a fan but saying Laoghaire's name wrong 🤔
I hear you on that plotline. It is in the books only slightly different, where it’s Marsaly that wants Claire back for a surgery on one of her children. Still ridiculous.
I love this beginning. I love Claire. I feel bad for her for Jamie. I didn’t wear my shirt last night because I love them so much. We’ll watch it over again. I want the movie together and I can’t wait for them to get Brad and Bree together I guess we will see something, thank you so much for coming back. I can’t wait to see you again. I love you.. 🙏✝️❤️😘🌹🕊️😇🕊️
@@angelscreation1 It’s not always 202 years. Geilles originally went back over 225 years from 1968. The stones take you to some kind of family connection, so it will vary for each person. There’s a reason Roger and Buck went back to 1740.
"Told you I would fight with you bear killer" Apparently only if they pay the fine extra actors to come back instead of casting them off and all disappearing into the ether! Apparently, there was a battle, between the Cherokee and the rest of the Browns, but don't think about that too much! Murtagh can behead the Duke Sandringham, Jamie can kill Black Jack in battle, The Fraser clan can usher justice to the Brown clan for raping Claire, Marsali can inject Lionel brown with poison to his juggler but Jamie is too shy to be shown giving Richard Brown a suitable death for all his evil???? A venomous snake from Jamies pocket and biting Brown would have done the trick! Briannas daughter was on deaths door so they urgently rushed back through the stones! And??????? Suddenly it is 5-6 years later and all is well? I can't verbalise just how disappointed I am with all involved. We have all invested years in this show and bonding with the characters, only to have management try to rest on their Loral's and the shows popularity hoping we the fans would just accept the abridged version of a great show!
From where the stones were they travelled through, Roger and the family would have arrived back in modern day USA. How did people react to their clothing? How and who operated on the baby? What did they do for money? Where did they stay to organise the medical care? And how did they all get back to Scotland? What were they doing for the 5-6 years before we see them all again in the show all happy and healthy? So many gaps and so little story. I think all involved need to get their cheque books back out and spend more money and produce more episodes to fill in the blanks they deliberately left out. If I wanted to imagine what happened I would have read the books. Like I said previously, we are all getting the Readers Digest version of the show and it is not good enough.
If you want everything spelled out for you the book has way more room to do so than a show ever will have. And like in the book, the show usually drops tid bits of info slong the way. No one wants everything spelled out for us, that would imply we are too dumb to draw conclusions on our own. The show has however spelled out what they did for money. Clair left all her possessions including a house in central Boston to Bree, and we know both Brees parents were well off (high ranking doctor and professor at an esteemed University salery). So Bree had enough money for the surgery for Mandy and more. Remember, healthcare in the 80ies cost a fraction of what it does today. And a run down 18th century house with no plumbing etc is nothing compared to a house in Boston. What cost them is repair, and that is why it was necessary for Bree to start working as they had gone through much of their savings.
I feel Roger in the wrong time period is a big mistake. Those dam stones have have been very reliable for all travel thus far, What happened? Will they get back to Bre in the right time now? Good heavens.
Big mistake by Roger, the show makers or who? We know Gaillies travelled from 1968 to well before 1743. And Ottertooth travelled from the 70ies to a young ... oh I forget the name of the old grandmother in the Cherokee village. But clearly way over 200 years. It is Clair who slways travel 202 years between the same people, and Bree has travelled to her and back. And Roger to Bree and back. Now Roger and Buck are off and trying to get to Jemmy who for the first time is off on his own/with Cameron. So we don't know where he would end up
Stupidly, I decided to wait 12 months before watching season 7 part 1. After just watching all 8 episodes in part 1 last night I was so disappointed and want to know who is responsible for ruining the show! Season 6 ending left me so excited, only to find in season 7 part 1 that they have cut the budget and the story line and most of the other important characters. Seems to me they didn't want to pay any more wages to the other important actors than they had too. Getting fewer episodes per season at the cost of a detailed storyline. Feels like someone kept hitting the fast forward button just to get to the end of each episode. Waited for an epic season 7 and ending up getting the Readers Digest version instead. Either they all had a bad day at the same time or the film editor was in a hurry to get to the pub! If season 1 was like this back in 2014 the series would have died a quite death after only 6 episodes ! Shame on all involved for promising so much and delivering so little!
I agree. When people reunite after all that time there was so little reaction. Also, Jamie and Claire were too complacent abouty their separation. NOt at all what I was expecting.
I'm so glad to finally find others who are disappointed in the last season and this first episode of part 2. All the comments I've seen are loving it and i started to feel like maybe im being to critical. But i love the books and the show has done so well keeping the magic for me. But everything seems so rushed in these last 2 seasons. It doesn't feel like the same show anymore.

Who’s ready for Claire to cheat on Jamie for like the fourth time??😂😂😂it’s always hilarious to watch fans defend her being quick to have sex with people other then her husband by saying things like she did it because she loved Jamie so much and was so distraught and missed him so thats why she sleeps with other men😂😂
For me Season 7 part 9 failed . Lack of chemistry between the leads , Clair and James , which was the glee that was vital to Outlander magic. Loss of Central conflict and all the story lines of Roger Brianna should be serving that Central conflict . Frankly the entire story telling in part 9 , is all over the map . I am sure there were a lot of takes filmed , but the editing , which is in a way the second film making in putting the story together , is not as good . Why? The entire journey from Season one is truly a Clair story and hers and James love set up against all the obstacles antagonists was what pushed the story forward and made this miniseries like no other . We saw the world through Clair’s eyes through James eyes It was a family saga and we were rooting for it . Part one with a time exception of episode in Lallybrook , did not give it to us enough . Even the phantasy time travel did not play out suspense and danger connected to getting in a wrong period . I saw Outlander about 10 times Loved the story , loved the chemistry between both actors playing the leads , enjoyed production values , learned so much about history of Scotland and early American settlers and the Revolution . All of this was told through the eyes of Claire and James and their extended family . Film is not theater . Once it is filmed addicted and printed very little one can change except recur it , which is so costly . But I pray that part 10 and end of season 7 and then season 8 , shall do service to the entire story . I hope from its inception to the end Outlander becomes a classic to enjoy by generations . Do not destroy it please

So he might still be on the loose in the present timeline!
How do we know that? I'm so scared for poor Jemmy then if he's been pushed through the stones and is all by himself!

After so many people travel through the stones and end up 202 years apart, why, in this jump, did Roger and his ancestor go back further?
