      Yes, the happy medium is always hard to achieve! I always end up being happier surrounded by stuff 😂

    re: The cat that is part of a pair. I think it's a good idea to hold that one back, on the chance that you might find its mate in your house. But also, never fear when selling it! You are not the only one who has one cat and needs the other! So instead of getting approximately half the value of the pair, you should be able to get slightly more than half because of all those collectors out there who are also missing one cat, or they need to replace one that is broken/repaired, etc.

    Rosenthal is quite a nice line of German ceramics. They did both ceramic figures and porcelain dinnerware. They are most popular at the moment for their contemporary lines of dinnerware, very mid-century modern, and postmodern. Your cat would match well with that look, putting it likely in the 1960s to 1970s.

    I found a large Poole Pottery vase here that I sold on eBay to someone over there. Eek. I hope it got there safely.
    The Winstanley cats 😻 Those might be better on eBay ? (Money wise.)
    Gosh, they are all so good!
    The black Sylvac cat isn’t too valuable, but if you have the scaredy cat that they made with the tall tail, they are popular.
    Mr. Lion ❤❤❤ Is he a self portrait? I just love him.

      Heyyy Amy! Good to know Poole Pottery has travelled across the pond! Yes shipping internationally is always a worry but don't worry about Bewbie Lady - I have packed her in a tin inside the box - she must be protected at all costs!!! 😂
      Yes, I think I might even send the Winstanley cats to the local auction house (not least so I don't have to ship them!)
      Ah, it's nice that you think Mr Lion is a self-portrait - it's not although I am a Leo 🦁

    Rosenthal is high quality German company I remember some very expensive brightly coloured wall plates back In the late 70's to late 80's when I worked in a china shop. I recognised the sylvac cat as soon as you picked it up they also made it in a smaller size. Sylvac used to be very collectable after the company closed in the 80's not sure how sought after it is now. Poole pottery is still popular, I'm a mine of useless info when it comes to china or glass, I became a bit addicted to it working in a china shop for ten years. Love the wooden tortoise, could be tempted to add him to my collection if he comes up for auction, I could never be minimilist, I love my bits and pieces.

      Thanks for all the info, that's great. and thanks for not being a minimalist too 😺

    I think the cat with a hole in his bottom is a string holder, does his head come off? Have you got any bears?

    • @VintageArtGuy
      @VintageArtGuy  6 месяцев назад

      His head doesn't come off - how strange. I have 2 bears which come to mind... a heavy brass figure and a wooden one but there may be more! I'll show soon 👍
