- The NSA’s failures are public headlines. Its successes are secret.
These days America’s National Security Agency lives at the intersection of two paranoias-governmental fears of attack and citizen fears about loss of privacy. Both paranoias were exacerbated by a pair of devastating attacks-9/11 and Edward Snowden. The agency now has to evolve rapidly while managing its normal heavy traffic of threats and staying ahead of the ever-accelerating frontier of cyber capabilities.
In the emerging era of transparency, and in the thick of transition, what does the NSA look like from inside?
Threats are daily, but governance is long term. At the heart of handling that balance is Anne Neuberger, Special Assistant to NSA Director Michael Rogers and Director of the Commercial Solutions Center. (Before this assignment she was Special Advisor to the Secretary of Navy; before that, in 02007, a White House Fellow.) She is exceptionally smart, articulate, and outspoken.
"Inside the NSA" was given on August 06, 02014 as part of Long Now's Seminar series. The series was started in 02003 to build a compelling body of ideas about long-term thinking from some of the world's leading thinkers. At 4:27 the speaker and crowd engage in moment of laughter regarding the year being a long one. An "insider" type of laughter. The global event that is still going on would not classify as anything to laugh about. But all the people in the room during the recording of this video definitely have not been impacted during this over one year event, so they laugh...Maybe they know something we don't know. Where was the NSA's power of security this summer while every major city in the U.S. was being attacked, robbed, and burned for the world to see. All the people that have been involved in various cities could be easily identified and better yet, where were you to stop it? Anne Nueberger are you a dual citizen? Who are you loyal to first and foremost? The NSA along with the CIA seem to always be a day late to protect America. What this is about is stealing everything and anything they can backdoor. Just the way she is speaking gives away your dealing with a snake. These people deal in subversion. They are executives in corporate business to play all sides of every scenario. Just this statement alone qualifies me as a bad actor because I will not comply with any of the these "new normals". Humanity is a failure. People like this woman are cold blooded and soulless. You never protected me or anyone I know. Where were you in September 2001?
Using tech, mathematics, and statistics to steal then blame it on someone else or some other nation. Your pathetic. The future will be full of people like this monotoned creepy woman. Enjoy. We are all bankrupt physically and mentally. You people create the enemy so you can continue to steal all that hard working American money via the Federal Tax on one's labor. If she had to survive being dropped off I the middle of Kensington, Philly or the South Side of Chicago, she wouldn't make it out in one piece. We are all one Corona Mass Ejection away from being without the technology this woman worships as a god. Let's see how that goes and who will survive that because no one can do anything about it, should it affect Earth.
