Took me a year, but I only just realized that that J2 rain jacket you got in this video Jasper is called Sveti Jure which is huge climb in Croatia =) Haven’t ridden it yet, it’s in Dalmatia (so if you ever fly to say Split - let me know, I’ll drop you a route with Sv.Jure in it) and I am in mid-country =)
The Dutch climate is particularly rainy, and all the more so in October-November. I believe in riding with a merino wool jersey with a breathable rain jacket stashed in the back pocket under these conditions. Wool retains body heat when wet, so even if some rain does get through it's not a problem. Furthermore even though most breathable membranes like Gore-tex are not 100% breathable, so one will always get a little moist from one's own sweat when wearing a rain jacket. Getting wet is OK. Getting cold is dangerous. I also believe in woolen socks under these conditions, as even with overshoes on, there will be a bit of water ingress.
Cold and wet (rain showers) is a very difficult environment to ride in for sure! A rain jacket is always making you sweat/hot underneath it unfortunately. Some fabrics are quite ok in breathability but probably don’t resell rain that good. It seems always one or the other 🙁
@@jasperverkuijl It's OK to get wet, as long as you don't get cold. Maybe having an emergency synthetic* puffy stashed away, in case you have a mechanical, is not a bad idea either. *Synthetic down retains body heat when wet as well.
Mate I saw no winter in this video 😂 You have really nice weather in NL during winter. General tips are ok, but try to dress like this in Poland in the winter. My most crazy ride was driving on my gravel bike in forest during snow storm with -12C. After 70 km I have had no feel my hands and feets 🤣 Cheers!
The BX are really good. At the moment I like them as much as the srx tbh There is a small difference in the 2 srx models, I talked about this in my review.
Hoi Jasper, another nice video!!! Just a question, can you point me to a brand that has bib's with long legs? Can't find any in the shops here in France (not tailored for Dutch guys of 1.93) . The Didoo winterbib's I ordered on the Internet are really to short. I presume Italian brand's have the same problem. Bedankt en ga zo door, Tom
De korte broeken van siroko zijn wel goed qua lente (komen tot bijna over m'n quads) dus die zouden wel passen denk ik. Lange broek.... Mmmmm mijn Castelli broek was prima lengte. Rapha ook. Mavic broek ook.
Not for nothing, but I tried to order from this company, and they never even shipped my purchase. I ended up doing a charge back with my CC company. You should have a chat with your sponsor to at the very least, deliver what people pay for. Thanks for the great content, and sorry about the negativity.
could anyone tell me if the J1 winterjacket is somewhat stretchy? I'm between sizes and I have a winter jacket from Declathon which has zero give and is super compressive :/. Especially when I wear a baselayer + normal jersey under it
Thanks man! Useful! Question: (slightly off topic). I go a reply on one of my comments on your last video about a giveaway competition. Apparently, I won a prize!! I just wanted to confirm this as I'm a bit sceptic about the communication I had after that with either yourself or somebody acting as you or on behalf of you. Can you confirm that you indeed have issued a giveaway competition lately and that I am a winner??
@@jasperverkuijl thanks for confirming! Super weird. I made some screenshots, but I doubt you'll be able to do anything with or about it right? It all sounded pretty legit though. They contacted me through Niceagram. They used your RUclips logo/avatar and the name "official account" next to it.
waterproof OR breathable, not both at the same time... ptfe membrane can not breath with water layer on top. Thats why impregnate is so important, it just prevents soaking
I'm so bummed out about their winter jackets, they are super comfy and it never gets super sweaty. But the pockets are a nightmare, in a terrible position and impossible to open with cold hands or gloves.
Yeah man, i agree. I also shared this in my previous review. It really sucks for me as a vlogger since i can't grab the camera from my pocket anymore. I think they will change it in future update of the jacket.
Yep I know. They basically have 3 levels but name every single bib differently even though it's the same bib with only a slight different logo e.g. It's best to just look at the price to know what bib is what level. SRX is the most expensive and the best. The mid level is really good. The lower level is not very good in my experience. (Padding isnt very comfortable) And yes, like i said in my previous review (and have said to siroko) the size chart makes no sense. I wear Medium bibs, Medium jerseys and L jacket. The M4 jersey i have now is M but it would probably dit me well in L too.
I really dont like the glasses by SIROKO.... Really bad quality and the Photochromic stuff comes off after one ride or some sweat . :( Better buy once more expensive Glasses like 100% or Oakley
The photocromatic lens doesn't have the mirror coating so it in my experience those are less prone to scratching than the other lenses with the coating. You need to treat them carefully indeed. I understand your point saying Oakley is better, they are. But they are also 5x as expensive so we can't compare apples and oranges right?
Yo Jasper, me and my newborn kid have been watching all your vlogs from 2016 onwards whilst doing night feeds! thanks for the company.
Hahah nice work!
Thanks for the tips, I used a thin light neck gaitor combined with a thicker neck gaitor as you showed in your video!
Good stuff!
Bought a couple of base layers with the black friday sale, i have been wearing them even under my normal clothes when it’s really cold.
Nice!!👍 I like those merino base layers too!

I’ve been to split, I don’t think we have layovers in split unfortunately ☹️
Go do the climb and let me know.!!
First time in your channel Jasper. Nice and decent approach. Very clear and informative video.
Thanks man.
Check out the rest of the channel, I’m sure you’ll like it. Lots of hidden tips and tricks in my videos 👌🏻😉

Love the siroko kits. Always use your discount link when i buy from them.. Thanks! 👍👍
Hey Jasper. What sizes do you use? Rain Jacket, Winter Jacket ? Thanks for the honest review 👍
I wear Medium bibs, Medium jerseys and L jacket.
The M4 jersey i have now is M but it would probably fit me well in L too.
I've already bought way more Siroko stuff than I actually really need. Stop it Jasper 😅

Myeah -12 is just not a condition you'd go out for a long ride i guess... There are limits hehe.
Hey, is the new SRX bib shorts still worth to get since padding has changed? If yes, which one u prefer, elite or world series?

No not vey strexhy. I wear it in Large which is one size bigger than my jersey size
@6:45 is this why pros Training always in leg warmers in 20 degrees Calpe?
