Not sure if you know this one but if using an extension cable reel for the karcher make sure you fully unwind the power reel because the power required for the motor is reasonable and a wound extension lead has a lower power output than an unwound one. This can strain the motor and lead to early failure. Great review by the way.
Great review, I’ve had this model for over a year and all your points are spot on. I bought the extension hose ( I think it’s an extra 6m) and it’s so much easier to get around the car with the extra length . The extension hose is ( or seems to be ) a softer rubber and doesn’t coil anywhere near as much as the original.
Kranzle K10 122 TS - Now that's a power washer! I gave up on these Chinese made Karchers years ago, and have never looked back. Sure, the price is way cheaper than a Kranzle, but the Kranzle will be the last machine you ever buy. Mine is an absolute monster. Suttner short gun upgrade was a must for me.
Nailed the review! I've been using it for about a year, totally agree with you on everything, the hose is an absolute nightmare! Ended up having to buy an extension off Amazon, which as a bonus is also more flexible. The karcher gun has already become too stiff to bother changing the nozzles, I have to press the nozzle into the ground so I can twist it to change, so as a result I also bought one of those trigger guns, albeit some Aliexpress knockoff, but works a treat and is far handier with the quick release nozzles. On the positive side, the patio cleaner attachment is really rather good, plenty of power - and also have no issues creating foam from my Aliexpress foam bottles :-D
Thanks for watching! It’s a shame that they have made the hose such a pain to use, I’ll be upgrading it soon so I don’t keep losing my temper with it 😂 the quick release guns definitely solve the nozzle changing issue I’m so glad I made the switch
I bought the k4 new series by watching the videos. It has no problems in washing the floor and car, but the drain opening apparatus does not work with pressure. I called the customer services many times to take it to the service, then I took it to the service, but this way it is without pressure. It was said after the test they did that it worked. I can say that it was a failed apparatus. They did not receive a refund. My money was a baton.
Another good review , I bought a K5 compact from Toolstation when they were on offer and paired it with a Direct hoses 20mtr reel and stubby gun which is permanently set up in the garage and I've been more than happy with it.
You are my new favorite to watch. Do you think a K7 with a stubby gun and 25 or 40 degree tip would be too much for washing a car? I’m interested in using the pressure washer around the house but I don’t want to damage my paint. Love the videos!
Good honest review, I've used the outlet for a new gun and hose(quick release) it was described as used with scuffs, but, they sent me a new unopened one, needless to say I was impressed. 👍
welcome to the K4 club (again), recommend a 15m replacement hose (Direct Hoses or QWashers), with a stubby gun convert (+Karcher anti-twist adapter), mine was from I2D too -- much better results, and going for several years now. Karcher hoses are never long enough, and the extensions just break at the join. Do protect them during winter, i left mine too close to the shed door last year (no insulation) and burst the outlet valve when the water trapped froze over several days, local Karcher repair cost me £40 and still going ok.
I hope you don't mind me saying but it's really noticeable when you're not saying "ehm" all the time. It really shows how far you've come as a RUclipsr. Keep up the great work.
Definitely worth upgrading at a short trigger and convert to a direct hoses hose available in 10m,15m,20m,30m all come with swivel hose ends and seriously improves your performance and experience using the karcher I’ve got mine with a k2 but wanting to upgrade to a k4
I bought the identical pressure washer about three months ago. Best upgrades I made were the short stubby gun (after watching your video on it!) and a 10 metre rubber reinforced hose from Cleantec Equipment Ltd. Combined with the Karcher QR swivel on the stubby gun it makes it a dream to use! Congrats on the new machine Heather! :)
@@AutoCareHQ A lot of folks go for the Direct Hoses upgrade Heather but I've read a few reports of hoses failing after a few months of use. I'd highly recommend the Cleantec one, I think they're based in Ireland so delivery took about a week but well worth the wait!
There okay for ppl who do there cars once a week. But for commercial use definitely a kranzle. Been through a few karchers and yes I look after them. Usually after the warranty they go pop. Bought a kranzle and in the long run saves you money.
I upgraded my pressure washer last year and went for the K7 Compact. Went for it because it has a quality 10m hose and 550 litres per min flow rate. Don’t need the full control which i think is a bit of a gimmick as I have a stubby gun anyway. Flow rate is the important thing to look for as this is what gets thick foam and gives the performance. Way to think of it is throwing a bucket of water at your car compared to a glass of water.
Didn’t realise they had an outlet store, so thanks for the heads up. My K2 is fine for the most part, but I do want a bit more power, so now you’ve got me thinking! 🤔
I bought the K4 Compact. It's exactly the same pump/motor and power, but saves £50 by not having the silly gun which is pointless really. The hose is crap but then again all cheap pressure washers are like that anyway. The power control is also useless to me, as I wouldn't turn it down from maximum power anyway. Also I like to store the hose/gun/etc in my shed on the wall, so the storage bits of the 'full control' model is also no use to me. My advice, buy the K4 Compact and save £50-£70 ! Good video though, with lots of genuinely good tips and advice. Thumbs up !
Thanks for watching 😊 there was only about £15 difference on the outlet compact vs full control and this one gets used for a few other bits as well as just on the car so I didn’t mind paying the extra. Definitely if you’re buying new though and the compact is a lot cheaper then for cleaning cars it’s better value for money, especially for people who use the quick release guns instead as well!
Thx for the info here as Jst ordered K4 compact fr Karcher Outlet as like you say it’s the same motor & I’ve saved £50 compared to k4 full control. I’ve got a K2 but wanted bit more power with a compact unit plus got all the attachments already. Thx & will see how it get on!! 🤞🏻👍🏻
Good review there. Thank you. I'm one of those who tends to lean away from karcher pressure washers myself, simply because I think you can get more for your money. When mine died I switched to Nilfisk and I've never looked back really. Brilliant bit of kit and it came with literally everything - 10m hose, integrated hose reel, several different heads for different applications, patio cleaning kit and even a couple of 45 degree nozzles for cleaning under the car aswell! And it was all cheaper than a bog standard K4! Although I think I'm gonna upgrade to a kranzle at some point, as I want a solution I don't have to wheel out and unpack each time. I just want it wall mounted, permanent connection to power and water and literally just have to connect my hose and go. Lol.
Hi heather brilliant video a bought a k4 few weeks back but found the hose kept kinking so checked online direct hoses do karcher anti kink ones 5 10 and 15 meter ones they are brilliant 👍
Cheers Paul! They sound perfect, maybe if I drop enough hints for Christmas I might get one haha. Otherwise I reckon I'll be picking one up soon because the hose really gets on my nerves sometimes!
i recently bought a refurbished K4 from the karcher outlet, i thought it would be a secondhand one tarted up with signs of wear and tare, so for £109 i thought i would take a chance, when it came i was very surprised by the as new condition, the hose was brand new and the unit was unmarked, it was in what i would describe as 'new condition', so if any of you are looking for a decent washer go onto karcher outlet and look at a refurbished one, the only thing i would say is the hose is very stiff so i'll be replacing it, i also upgraded my lance and bought a short handled lance
Congratulations for the new toy Heather, great bargain! I have the compact version of the Karcher K4 and the power is more than enough as you just said in the video. Great tool, however I don't like the length of the gun either. Also, that 6m hose which comes with the tool is a such a shame. Short and kinky, I can't wait to upgrade that to something better. Spot on review and this video is packed with useful information, just as always!
Cheers Viktor! I’m the same, definitely will upgrade it at some point but I always end up spending money on products instead! It’s only when I go back out to clean the car and keep having to untwist the hose that I remember how annoying it is 😂
Nice review Heather. You made some very valid points both pro and con. I actually have the K5 Karcher and it is more than enough for detailing my vehicles. I formerly had a Karcher Follow Me small unit which was "OK" for detailing but the K5 is way better. The only gripe I have about the machine is the hose. The hose is a poor design. Karcher is easily a big enough company that they should include a flexible hose with all their units. It's frustrating to get a K5 Karcher (toward the upper range of their home use units) and you get a crap hose. The first upgrade I did was the short gun with quick release. Love that thing. My next upgrade is the 10 meter flexible hose. That should make the unit just about perfect for auto detailing. One other recommendation I would make for "maintenance" of the unit is to put a bottle of the pump guard through the unit just before winter time and it gets really cold and using the unit is ineffective. It's relatively cheap on Amazon for a bottle of the pump guard and it hooks right up to the inlet. It also conditions the inner seals and pump which extends the life of these units quite a bit. Usually when they fail, the pump goes belly up. By keeping it conditioned with a bottle of pump guard once a year, you should get several more years of life out of the unit depending on use level. I only need mine about twice a month because I have converted to doing a lot of RINSELESS washing.
Thanks for watching! That’s a great tip for maintenance, cheers 😊 definitely, the hose on anything from a k2 upwards (and even probably including the k2) should definitely be better!

I’ve swapped now to a Kranzle K10 so I’m not actually using it anymore! I used it for about 15 months without any issues and then gave it away and I’ve heard since that it has broken but I’m not sure how well the new owner looked after it! You’ll notice an improvement with the foam thickness and the increased flow rate is the main benefit to be honest

hi thanks. I saw that 1 today. is it the rubber one? heavy duty from China 🇨🇳
@@jaymistry9330 www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/karcher-k-series-c-clip-to-c-clip-reinforced-heavy-duty-rubber-replacement-hose?variant=32368465313871 it's this one. Looks like it's out of stock atm but could be worth dropping In2Detailing an email to see when it's due back in. I think directhoses.net do them as well :)

thanks for that.
Thermo plastic hoses are tough but a pain to use especially when it's cold. I got a longer high pressure rubber hose from in2detailing for around £35.
Had my K4 for over 2 years ditched the gun and lance for upgraded MTM .Just watch the C clip as it tends to come off if you pull the hose to hard
Thanks for the tip!
Great review. Thanks
Toolstation are doing this classic model K4 for £149 at the moment (New)
6m seems like an accountant making product specifications and price pointing the product vs margins..... seems pretty daft because even if you aren't washing a car.... 6m doesn't get you very far down a pathway for instance.
Only had 2 machines in 30 years now... currently my nilfisk is perfect after more than 10 years.
Agree the Outlet is a great place to buy... got a WD2 and karcher steamer from there....
Super!
Need to replace the auto stop red hozelock hose connection as it blocks the flow
👍🏻
130 is working or max pressure my bosch is 125 max but working only about 80-90 so it looks like it doesn't need the 1.1mm but it actually does
Agreed, I use max pressure and being a relatively new machine there's no need to go for a smaller orifice here as the foam is still very thick
@@AutoCareHQI think most pressure washers put that max just to flash some numbers most of them don't reach that, a lot of them are -10 to -20 bars from the max pressure
That makes sense. I just go off the info on the MJJC instructions mainly as Id hope they probably factored it in and I always try and stay on the safe side!
@@AutoCareHQ I mean it's your decision on what side to stay and I can't say that you are wrong we all may have different believes if they don't commit crimes (like age is not a factor in a bad way for example) mjjc is a high-end good company so that could be a possibility
Looks like your tap could do with looking at Heather.
Nice cheap yellow peril lol hope it last you Heather personally I've had 1 nilfisk that lasted 8 years now I'm in my second year of my KRANZLE 1152 TST and definitely the best in my opinion worth the extra money
Mechine and control looks like a K7
Great review! Check out my pressure washing videos. Would love some tips!
you did not pick up on the hose like most people who brought one they are crap..
I spoke about it at 3:06
