Looking at this fight, it doesn't become all that surprising that Joe Calzaghe was able to handle him. Jeff had to chase Syd alot here and it was obvious that Vanderpool had better mobility. And Lacy on top of that was almost always there to be hit. Joe with his better lateral movement and faster hands did a number on Jeff. And this fight (Syd being a southpaw also) did display some of the weaknesses Joe was able to exploit.
