Hi from one of your newer subscribers! Growing up, my dad always re-handled our axes with fiberglass, I never liked the feel. I've always loved wood handles. I've got a couple tools needing new handles soon, you can bet I'll be rewatching this one for inspiration, I love it!

Awesome axe buckin' and Carl from the UK love it!! And to all new subscribers hope your all well pop in to the comments and say hi it's a great community here stay kind fellow #soldiersofkindness
Hello from new zealand i need a buckin special in my life a 2.5 lb 18 inch wedge pounder with a nice chopping edge for limbing. Prety much a small forest/ multi purpose axe have been looking at a few from stores but id rather spend my money here where its deserved and appreciated and i know how much pride you take in your work ile go website and look at that aswell i want a get the gullet tee or something. Much love and respect to you brother.
Great lookin' axe! And there's Cletus..thought he had moved back to the swamps.. Haha! Here we're having a little cold snap, this morning it was -9C, so the wood stove is officially opened for the burning season. All the best toy you people, keep warm and be kind :)
Loves the video buckin. Great tips. It’s really nice to see someone that’s passionate about their work and the end product. Keep them coming friend. Be kind everyone and welcome to any new subscribers.
Must be chilly. Buckin has SLEEVES! I was pretty pumped to see my duct-taped axe yesterday! That means it will be coming in time for my birthday, even!
That looks good with a straight handle. I have to say axe testing in crock...is a sight to see😂 don’t forget the straps for off-road use buckin👌 love to you and the family❤️ glad to see an axe build in the bunker 😁
I'm so excited and had a great weekend! I bought 4 vintage axe heads on ebay, picked up two vintage spoke shaves locally, and caught James Hetfield's drumstick at the Metallica concert on Saturday. 🤘 Rock on everyone.
Morning from Ireland Buckin getting frosty here its cold this morn. Brrrrr Love a fresh morning . Your axes are impressive looking and made with passion. Love it.
Ahhhh....theres my buddy Cletus !!! Its always nice to see him now and again. Helps to make me smile and same with my kids 🤣 Your axe building skills are approaching God level brother, WOW !! Keep on keeping on Billy. Love ya brother ❤ All you new subz, buckle up and hang on 👍
Man O man that there is a beut.. Great time watching you work with patience and happiness. Keep it up bub, stay safe everyone, eyes out and keep your heads up.
Mister consistency! Flawless work. Built with care and pride. Axes made for axe men by an axe man so you know it's good. I'm from Ireland and your UK accent has me in stitches here. Ha ha! Pure gold!
Your draw knife skills are exceptional removing the perfect amount of wood on the handle. Your editing to have your movements repeated that way was awesome. That was nice of Carl to make an appearance to verify the ax head was on the right way. Burning the handle has become an art with you. Nobody makes an axe like Buckin and that's why it's called a Buckin Special! Cletus sure gave that cherry tree a few good wallops with that axe. And what a treat of a few moments of Buckin on his drums. . Welcome to the new subscribers, remember to be kind! Hope everyone has a great week!
Gosh darn Alice you have a way of saying what we're all thinking you're so articulate it blows my mind I wish I could express things in words in your unique way sister, much love & respect to ya. Hope you're in for a great week too 😬❤️👍
Evening all from across the pond. Yes I'm late replying. How fantastic it is to see our ranks swelling with our new friends joining the buckin army we welcome you all with open arms. Great video I've been dropping hints to the Bobinski family what I'd love for Xmas next thing will be leaving notes on the milk bottles in the fridge or some printed toilet roll lol (yes a axe). Hi true blues.stay safe and warm. I'd love to hear your Kentish accent lol
ahh love watching your vids after a hard days work.. thanks for inspiring my continued love of axes and chainsaws lol, got me to go out into the forest and i discovered ever more stuff to love lol have a great night!
Welcome new subscribers and happy Sunday glad to have new soldiers of kindness. 😀😊 hey mr buckin is there any chance that you could get out that 10 10 with the tune pipe and do a cut if you have the time? What all do you have to do to an 850 wrap around bar to fit a 10 10? Thanks for the great content and kind words. That axe is gonna be one wedge bangin son of a gun!
In case u get tired of ur files a grinder with a flap disk makes sort work of the fitting, gots to be careful tho easy to take too much, I'm a welder by trade so I'm quick to grab the 5 inch grinder. Love all ur videos and positive vibes
I won't put a link to it but did anyone else get this video in their "recommended for you " list on youtube ? Billy Ray talks about this from time to time , old school felling and logging , it's worth a look in my opinion , search youtube for " 1940s Lumberjacks felling Redwoods in Northern California " It's in black and white . Those guys did not do it easy . Be safe , be kind , be happy people :-)
Love your videos alot because you don't bull shit and you show real work. I have a DBBL edge axe that was my great Grandad's that the handle has now been split behind the axe head. What type handle would you put in the axe? I was told it has a hickory wood handle.
Hi everyone. Just want to say one of the fun parts for me is all the different terms we use. Notch - Scarf . Drawknife - Spokeshave. 2x4 - 4x2 or 100x 50 etc fascinating stuff. A bunch of fun folks here. No negative awesome. Its 10 am here on a tuesday morning. Whats the time in Buckin land?
THERE CHEAP IN MY MIND FOR A GREAT TOOL AND TO SEE THE PROCESS OF THE BUILD WHICH I HAVE STOD RIGHT BESIDE THEM IN SWEDEN WATCHING THEM ,, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE AXE,, PUT IN THE RIGHT HANDS THEY COULD LAST A LIFE TIME , MOST DEFINITELY WORTH THE $
I use a 2# dead blow hammer to seat my axe heads.i do the same thing to the end of my axe handles. I spent a couple of days hanging the new handle in my 200+ year old broad axe. It had been sitting in the hardware store so long that it was as hard as a brick. The inconsistent diameter of the eye of this old hand forged axe head did not help, either. My spoke shave was so dull when I got through that I had to sharpen it.. I usually cut the kerf down to about the bottom of the set.
Hey - Buckin’ Ray! - what’s that “draw knife” you’re using?? Looks familiar - but I never used one like that... What’s it called? Where you got it from? I want one like that too 😃😎😜
I need help. I broke my last 2 axe handels shortly after hanging them one broke at the curl the other broke at the bottom of the wedge any idea what I’m doing wrong. Thanks for the help everyone Be kind and thanks for the love
Sometimes it's the handles that are flawed. If the kerf (slot) in the handle goes down more than 3/4 of the way it can be a weak area that will break, so you should seat the head down farther. Also modify your wood wedge so it goes to or nearly to the bottom of the kerf.
