Excellent list, and a trip down nostalgia lane! Have you tried parasite eve 2? This hits a sweet spot between survival horror and rpg, it was one of my favorite ps1 games, next to those on your list and the thps games
I haven't played Parasite Eve 2 yet but I do have it on ps1🙂I just never got around to trying it. I have heard conflicting opinions on it though. Some loved it and some said it was too arcady or something? Or maybe they said it wasn't enough like the first one or something. I don't know, but I'll have to try it out myself👍
YES Great list! Medievil Resurrection, Crash Bandicoot, and Tekken 2 were my go-to games as a child, I STILL get goose bumps when hearing the Tekken 2 intro (best intro of all time in my opinion) Also agree 100% on MegaMan x4, that's my favorite MegaMan game of all time.
OMG, I know exactly what you mean about the Tekken 2 intro. I thought I was the only one who thought that way. I remember hearing it for the first time in 1996 when I went over a friends house to try out the game. Something about it was just sooooo damn cool. AT the time I had never heard anything like it before and was so jealous of my friend cause he had a playstation and I had a sega saturn and knew I'd never be able to play it. One thing I especially remember about the tekken 2 intro was that one scene where julia smashes the mirror in her house and runs outside and hops over the fence. I'll never forget that. Oh and paul when he puts his gloves on and the guitar starts.
SuperJumpReviews YES man nearly EXACT same scenario with me! Back in the summer of 97 I too saw this intro at a friends house!! He went to go use the bathroom real quick and when the games inactive on the title screen, the intro plays and when I saw that the hairs on my arm stood up, thought I was watching a movie haha! the scene that got me good was when it showed king stumbling in the alleyway and armor king gave him his mask, and when it showed all the characters fading out, leading to kazuya with the devil look while angel was right next to him was just too good man. You definitely earned a sub on my end and love seeing guys like you go deep into our childhood memories! Keep up the good content and I'll keep the support coming! My friends and I cant wait to see more!
I have Dino Crisis Chrono Trigger Parasite Eve Always wished I could find the PS1 Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games on the PlayStation Store, but I never could! For some reason, they just don't seem to be there -- despite the fact that they're supposed to be available for the Vita.
Don't quote me on this but I think they used to be available on the vita until the announcement of the Crash n sane trilogy thing. I know for a fact I used to be able to transfer the games over to my psp back in the day.
"Harvest moon: BTN" is the first psx game i buy when i buy vita, now i have few psx game like parasite eve, dino crisis and few fighting game, maybe considering buy hercules, nice list btw..
Very nice video! I would love more of these kinds of videos, especially because my knowledge on ps1 games are very limited. And that Beat em up games looks fun, my favourite type of games :D
Lots of Legends of Dragoon love. Such a cult classic. To this day lots of Sony enthusiasts crave for a remake. I know they are unrelated, but I like thinking that White Knight Chronicles is a spiritual successor since both are high fantasy and have japanese henshin hero motiffs. If you dig rpgs, I highly recommend getting Xenogears. It's a PS1 exclusive, the origin of the Xeno games and arguably the best one (the Xenosaga Trilogy on ps2 is amazing in scale, but can get quite convoluted in story). Another big recommendation is Vagrant Story as a spinoff of FFTactics. It's the closest to metal gear in feel that final fantasy ever got. I'd also hugely recommend Vakyrie Profile, but the PS1 edition has 2 discs and there was a PSP edition with some balancing and widescreen support without requiring you to switch discs half way through the story, so I say get the PSP version. It was Enix's TriAce studio masterpiece before it merged with Squaresoft.
Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve are two games I really wanna play. I've got them on my shelf but I just can't find the time to play them. I've never played Xenogears on ps1 but I have tried the first Xenosaga on ps2 which I really liked. I will definitely look into that Valkryie Profile for the psp if I ever come across a copy. Man, so many games and so little time :(
Fighting force is actually streets of rage foray into 3d it was renamed after devs were unhappy with the switch to 3d The character designs are also pretty telling
SuperJumpReviews absolutely correct Here’s a excerpt from the wiki “a 3D beat-'em-up game developed by Core Design. Once due for release exclusively on the Sega Saturn, various issues saw the game released for every major video game system on the market except the Saturn. Core Design had originally intended Fighting Force to be titled Streets of Rage 4, being pitched to Sega as a sequel to Streets of Rage 3. However, during development there was a change of plan, and the group decided it would be more worthwhile to create a multi-platform game. Predictably, this caused Sega to demand the Steets of Rage trademark be removed, and so the game was renamed Fighting Force. Development resumed for Fighting Force, with Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Windows ports (along with the Saturn version)”
@sirkreuab that is so interesting. To think it could've been an exclusive game on the Sega Saturn back in the day. Let me tell you as a Saturn owner back in 1997, Sega really needed exclusives badly. Oh and don't forget the N64 eventually got a port as well with improved textures :) Thanks so much for the info. It's always nice to talk about retro games with a fellow gamer.
SuperJumpReviews no problem :) I love all Stuff games grew up in the 80s been a gamer since I was little but to be honest I knew that tidbit from another RUclips video about the streets of rage series im constantly watching game vids or let’s plays lol

They intercept time right on September 28th Jill goes to the RPD police station after Leon had just left it and stays around in the night until September 29th early morning then finishes Oct 1st or 2nd by the end.
So you're telling me, by the time Leon goes underground to Umbrella factory, Jill is above ground fighting Nemesis? That's crazy if all that were happening at the same exact time.
I haven't watched the vid but I think a somewhat unknown game is Soul Sacrifice, and it's sequel, Soul Sacrifice Delta. beautiful game with an interesting story. I don't regret buying it
"People said it didn't age well" Who ever said mmx4 aged badly? Mmx4 is undoubtedly the best ageing game (maybe next to sotn) of its generation and one of the best games ever made.
Mmx4 is my favorite in the x series. Had a lot of fond memories with this one. I kinda hated how later entries in the series introduced more rpg elements. I liked it when it was strictly action and platforming.
I got a nasty surprise when I buy and install ps1 resident evil director cut on my vita. I thought I was going to enjoy myself on this great game on the vita when I realise the music in this director cut version is totally butchered and horrible to listen to. The PlayStation store should have put the original instead of the director cut version on it instead. By the way chrono cross and xenogears play great on the vita and are nice to have on the go everywhere.
Yeah, I remember reading about the audio track in director's cut as well. Thats why I stayed away from it lol. Chrono Cross is awesome. It's right up there with Legend of Dragoon and Final Fantasy x for me.
I never had an issues with the tomb raider controls in all honestly. They are tank like but its more due to its age if anything. For the time it was great.
I just bought a Vita!!! Thanks to PS plus over the years, I have many games to play as well as many I want to buy. Mini indie games I have on my PS3 and PS4 I feel I would enjoy more on my Vita.
That's awesome!!! So excited for you. All I gotta say is, Persona 4 Golden, FFXHD, NFS Most Wanted, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Rayman Origins, Muramasa Rebirth, Freedom Wars, Tearaway, UMVC3, Dead or Alive 5+, Killzone Mercenary,.
SuperJumpReviews I will definitely be checking things out! Thank you! FFX is my favorite Final Fantasy game! I got the collector’s edition when it came out on the PS3. I definitely would like it on the go as well!
The psx era was a Golden era for rpg or gdr chrono cross, chrono trigger, all final fantasy, alundra, xenogears, breath of Fire, wild Arms, Legend of legaia and Dragon, vagrant story, suikoden. Personally still love playing silent Hill, im obsessed about this game Lol. I remember legacy of Karin soul Rover, still have the original 1. IM gonna buy A ps vita so on, because psp got some issues with psx Games like fra. Galerians was a good game too
Totally agree with you on this one. Psx and n64 was the golden age of gaming for me. Everything was new and exciting. Plus since graphics weren't that advanced yet it required that we used our imaginations still. Now everything just looks like I"m watching tv or a movie.
I just found out you can download PS1 games on the Vita wish I knew about this before I got rid of the Vita the first time glad I invested in getting another one
Interesting list and few surprises in this video as I thought in at No 1 would have been the game everybody thought was the best Metal gear solid. Mgs1 was such a classic game while I thought resident evil 2 would have been there since 3 never got the same hype of resident evil 2. Crash bandicoot was one of those classic gakes on ps1 and they look so good on psvita. Best thing having all your favourite ps1 games on your psvita you can play them on bus Train or even in bed. B3st thing about psv8ta was ps1 classics that made ps1 so successful! Psvita will always be worth buying in years to c9me!

I have my Vita (Because I'm living there) on Japanese account, dude, you can't simply go wrong in there, has the BIGGEST ammount of PS1 classics, even they are ordered in genres if you desire (PSN outside of Japan is seriously a Joke...). The fighting and STG genre here is just ridiculous, I have the Vita hacked so I did some backups from my discs so I can play them on the Vita, but my games avaible on (JP) PSN Store will be next ones... >Project GaiRay (Do you like Virtual-On? You are right at home) >Zero Divide 2 (Do you like Virtua Fighter? This one is even better) >G Darius >Oddworld games (Altough I prefer the English voices better) >CyberBots FullMetal Madness >Every STG like DonPachi/DoDonPachi/Strikers 1945/Cotton, etc >Assaults Suit Valken 2 >Armored Core >R-Type (was avaible at some point, even on the US, removed) >Psyquic Force 2 >Puzzle Bubble 2/3 >RayStorm/RayCrisis >Every RockMan (aka MegaMan) Avaible (We have the 1-6 Reboots and X4-6, who needs a Switch to play them) >You showed off Plasma Sword/Star Gladiator? You have nice taste man, I also recommend Rival Schools aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... I could continue, this are not even at all my most played because you showed off some of them, The list is just absurdly giant, and I forgot games like Clock Tower Trilogy or the Shin Megami Tensei Games, damn, Vita was already worth buying for beeing an even better PS1 player (Sorry but the PSP DPad hurts my thumb absurdly bad and the lack of propietary L2/R2 makes some games like Armored Core nearly unplayable). Thanks for the recommendations man, you really have a good taste, dind't really expected you to show War Gods, not the greatest game, but for me at least, is better than any of the Newer Mortal Kombats BY MUCH.
I just bought twisted metal 2 and thinking about buying fighting force. Those were a couple of my favorites growing up. There is still a few more I plan on buying but eventually I’m prolly gonna get my vita modded. I’m praying these ps1 classics come to the ps5 so I can continue playing them, with backwards compatible. That would be awesome
The sad truth is that the 32-bit era just doesn't hold up all that well. 2D games are still fine but most early-3D games from that genre just don't hold up today. I loved all those games growing up but as noted in the video several times, most just don't hold up.
yeah some games aren't just as good as you remember them. Some hold up better than others though. The crash bandicoot games are example hold up really well however. I can pick up and play those any time of the day.

Awesome top 10 list......some games like jet rider 2 feel so underrated because of this list.
Now is Jet Rider 2 different from Jet Moto?
@@SuperJumpReviews no, they're the same game, released in different regions
Nice. I think Jet Rider sounds cooler :)
Please don't stop making Vita content ! Freaking love it !
Thanks! Currently working on a video right now :)
YES Great list!
Medievil Resurrection, Crash Bandicoot, and Tekken 2 were my go-to games as a child, I STILL get goose bumps when hearing the Tekken 2 intro (best intro of all time in my opinion)
Also agree 100% on MegaMan x4, that's my favorite MegaMan game of all time.
The item prices on Legend of Dragoons were so insane that I stopped playing halfway back then
I have
Dino Crisis
Chrono Trigger
Parasite Eve
Always wished I could find the PS1 Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games on the PlayStation Store, but I never could!
Spyro trilogy is available on EU psn store
Can you let me know if the crash trilogy is on the EU psn store?
SuperJumpReviews i found only these crash games on EU psn:- crash bandicoot 2:cortex strikes back
crash bandicoot 3 warped
CTR crash team racing
YOu guys are lucky you still got those games on your store. Sony took me off the US store.
"Harvest moon: BTN" is the first psx game i buy when i buy vita, now i have few psx game like parasite eve, dino crisis and few fighting game, maybe considering buy hercules, nice list btw..
you forgot to mention RE3s replay value. gotta love it especially the merc mode
true true.
Very nice video! I would love more of these kinds of videos, especially because my knowledge on ps1 games are very limited.
And that Beat em up games looks fun, my favourite type of games :D
You should definitely check out Fighting Force. Classic beat em up gameplay.
Man, so many games and so little time :(
@@SuperJumpReviews such is the curse of knowledge for retro fans... stand fast... we are gonna make it out alive!
What games are at 0:17 and 0:35?
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins and Need for Speed 3
I’m just gonna buy this man a switch
😂can you make it the switch lite though. Yellow one. Thanks!
Hey man! I prefer Wild Arms over Legend of Dragoon. I really love that puzzles and the soundtrack. But my favorite PS1 game ever is Vagrant Story!
ahhhh I've never played Vagrant Story. Wanna try it sometime.
@@SuperJumpReviews If you like Parasite Eve you'll sure like Vagrant Story, both were made by the same team. Try it!
Fighting force is actually streets of rage foray into 3d it was renamed after devs were unhappy with the switch to 3d
The character designs are also pretty telling
@sirkreuab wow, seriously? But doesn't Sega own that IP though? Would sega had been the publisher then?
SuperJumpReviews absolutely correct
Here’s a excerpt from the wiki “a 3D beat-'em-up game developed by Core Design.
SuperJumpReviews no problem :) I love all
Stuff games grew up in the 80s been a gamer since I was little but to be honest I knew that tidbit from another RUclips video about the streets of rage series im constantly watching game vids or let’s plays lol
Hey man. Nice video😊
about syphon filter - there is button to toggle betwen the targets - simple press again button to lock target (R1 and R1 again to switch targets) also, for knowing where to go u need to open map on menu screen its explained everything. Syphon filter is master piece for that time. Go play 1 - 3 its great😊
Cool, thanks for the tip! I'll try it out next time. Btw, what's your favorite Syphon Filter?

They intercept time right on September 28th Jill goes to the RPD police station after Leon had just left it and stays around in the night until September 29th early morning then finishes Oct 1st or 2nd by the end.
So you're telling me, by the time Leon goes underground to Umbrella factory, Jill is above ground fighting Nemesis? That's crazy if all that were happening at the same exact time.
I haven't watched the vid but I think a somewhat unknown game is Soul Sacrifice, and it's sequel, Soul Sacrifice Delta. beautiful game with an interesting story. I don't regret buying it
I just picked up Soul Sacrifice at a retro game store a few weeks ago. Looking forward to playing it when I get a chance.
Mizzurna falls is just awesome. This game is a combination of twin peaks and deadly premonition. You'll need to get the English patch
👍
Nice video!!
Thanks!
This could be a reason to give my Vita a second try, the 3DS is just so damn good :(
I'll admit, 3DS has some solid games as well.
"People said it didn't age well"
Who ever said mmx4 aged badly?
What's your favorite ps1 games to play on ps vita?
Metal Gear Solid 1
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Gran Turismo 2 on adrenaline ;)
RE2 & 3.
Metal Slug
Yo we need "CRASH BASH", "CRASH TEAM RACING" and "APE ESCAPE"
true, we also need Crash 1,2, and 3 as well!
I never had an issues with the tomb raider controls in all honestly. They are tank like but its more due to its age if anything. For the time it was great.
For the time it was fine. Now, it takes a little getting used to🙂
The reason for the gap in time in RE3 is Jill gets poisoned and while you play as Carlos 3 days pass
so while she's poisoned is that when the events of RE2 occurs?

I just bought a Vita!!! Thanks to PS plus over the years, I have many games to play as well as many I want to buy. Mini indie games I have on my PS3 and PS4 I feel I would enjoy more on my Vita.
Also, The Legend of Dragoon is my favorite game of all time!

I got the collector's edition on ps3 as well :) And I even bought it again when it was released on the ps4 lol
an amazing thing about the psvita is the community
Yes, they are passionate about the ps vita I'll give you that.
Damn Sony for locking Dino Crisis behind the PS Plus deluxe paywall
What is the very first game shown at 8 seconds.
Yeah the only problem is that they don’t offer many ps1 games to download. That is unless you use “wink, wink” methods to get it.
what about the classic castlevania and metal gear solid?
Castlevania will be in a future video. Metal Gear Solid appeared in this video. Check it out🙂

Legend of Dragoon needs an HD remaster. Or even better a remake.
I think the icing on the cake would be if all these games had trophy support😊
I love the ps1 but I love the ps vita so much more just love the vita currently collecting a few games

Hell yeah Medal of Honor.
You are right at home)
>Zero Divide 2 (Do you like Virtua Fighter? This one is even better)
>G Darius
>Oddworld games (Altough I prefer the English voices better)
>CyberBots FullMetal Madness
>Every STG like DonPachi/DoDonPachi/Strikers 1945/Cotton, etc
>Assaults Suit Valken 2
>Armored Core
>R-Type (was avaible at some point, even on the US, removed)
>Psyquic Force 2
>Puzzle Bubble 2/3
>RayStorm/RayCrisis
>Every RockMan (aka MegaMan) Avaible (We have the 1-6 Reboots and X4-6, who needs a Switch to play them)
>You showed off Plasma Sword/Star Gladiator? You have nice taste man, I also recommend Rival Schools
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...
I dunno if they are in the store, but...
