"Inca Roads" studio version.....is a perfect example of his kick butt band. They could play anything and change direction on a dime. Plus Ruth Underwood on percussion gives the music a different sound than most music of the day.

He was on stage, he owned the place. Officials credited his announcing and guidance keeping the people informed for preventing panic. No one was injured and he stayed on the mic calmly suggesting to walk, don't run. I've heard part of the tape.
He was a brilliant guy, who could talk in great depth on many issues. I had a roommate who all he had was Frank Zappa albums, nothing else, thought that was extreme

Many of Franks vinyl album sides are comparatively shorter than your normal album. This kept the grooves in the vinyl farther apart creating a cleaner sound and minimizing cross tracking.
I was unfamiliar with Frank Zappa when this album came out. I went to a friends house and they were playing it and I could not get that guitar playing out of my head. Frank was an amazing guitarist. This is still my favorite Zappa album.
Zappa is beyond a guitar legend. I can play all of David Gilmour’s solos and all of Hendrix solos but I can not play all of Zappa’s work. You should check out Steve Vai’s RUclips clip of how Zappa put him through his paces when he auditioned for his band.

Saw him when my father was stationed in Germany in the early '70s. The German town of Bad Doberan hosts a Zappa music festival every summer -Zappanale. The man was a musical genius.

This song is one of his more radio friendly songs. A lot of his stuff was not. His band was stocked with first class musicians. This song was performed on SNL live.
Frank fought censorship, even testifying to Congress. The only artist who ever had an Adult Only label put on a album that was completely instrumental. He wrote every part for every instrument, and did it all in calligraphy. Steve Vai proofed Frank's early stuff while attending college. After his schooling Steve joined the group for a while.They became best friends and neighbors.
His kids are named Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet and diva you can play his music live without getting blocked his kids control his music he actually won awards for writing classical music also
Great review. You can tell how good a song is by how often our girl closes her eyes. A great song forces you to stare with your ears. Frank will never disappoint. Best album to start with. A shame to break it up. Each side was meant to be listened to whole. Keep it up Rock Warriors!
You guys have really and seriously check out his song Bobby Brown Goes Down. It’s got crazy and funny lyrics. I saw him many years ago and yes I had no idea he was such a good guitarist until then. Joe’s Garage is another good one you would like. He also always had great musicians in the band. He also has what’s called the black page that his drummers must be able to play before he hires them. He was also instrumental along with John Denver and Dee Snyder who testified in front of Congress when Tipper Gore and some other women were trying to censor music. They were called the PMRC. What really helped was the fact that John Denver was one of the artist advocating for no censorship. They couldn’t put him in the same group as Zappa and Snyder.
This album was one of his most successful. All of the freaks when I was in high school loved him and the musicians knew he was a composer as well a genius producer and guitarist. This is sill relevant today, sadly. Good luck Canadians, it may be too late for America!
frank zappa and grateful dead are my happy places. there's so much, i still listen to them every day. side note: the female singers here were tina turner and the ikettes. there's a whole story further illustrating what a jerk ike turner was.
His most accessible albums, Apostrophe,One Size Fits All, Overnight Sensation. He had many incredible musicians play with him my favourite include George Duke and Jean Luc Ponty.
That was great! I remember being a little kid in my bed, hearing this blasting in the next room, laughing my ass off in the dark, wondering "What the hell is Dad playing tonight?". I made it a point to ask him the next morning, and I've been a fan ever since. So many songs to recommend (and also many to avoid! At least for a reaction channel!). From this album "Montana" is epic, but also the two songs that surround this one on the original album, "Camarillo Brillo" and "Dirty Love" are also cool little bite-sized nuggets like this one. This was a great place to start. He has a lot of music. Some it we love, some of it we don't.....but we respect ALL of it!
I was peripherally aware of Zappa back in the day, then a guy at work hipped me to Joe's Garage Act 1. He only has about a ba-jillion amazing records, a massive studio album catalog and TONS of live releases.

Frank Zappa solos aren’t usually short. This track was originally released on vinyl and so song durations were more constrained. The fade out leaves you hoping for more. Zappa was a master at improvising long yet thematic and lyrical guitar solos. And because he improvised continuously during his tours and recorded everything some solos end up forming the basis for new songs. In fact a few of those 60 albums are nothing but guitar solos.
I've been listening to Frank Zappa for 53 years now. I won't recommend you further songs because I simply don't know where to start 🙂 But... keep trying. He was truly unique... Thanks for this video!
I do this song and I changed it to, "I'm the slime oozing out of the INTER-NET." Oh yeah, good place to start with some Zappa, there is a lot, and some of it may not be the best first thing to hear from him, but this definitely IS!

Zappa is awesome. You know who eles is awesome, KGLW (king gizzard and the lizard wizard) incredibly talented rock band that does pretty much every genre and has 26 (soon 27) albums since 2012.
Fitting to check out prostate cancer victim Zappa in Movember! One reason for him releasing so many albums was so that he could be released from a contract that he wanted to get out of. A lot of them were sketches, demos, and jam session recordings that were never meant to be released.
" I'm The Slime" is perhaps a gentle introduction to Frank Zappa's genius & versatility, the lyrics are still relevant & the funky music sublime. For pure guitar I would suggest "Watermelon in Easter Hay" (album version) & "Zoot Allures" both totally different. For fun "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" & "Bobby Brown (goes down)".
You got Zapped!!! In 73' Frank was dealing with censorship, defamation, and unscrupulous record exec's. He eventually went before congress to argue against censorship in 1985. I think he also utilized those moments as, free publicity. He figured-it-out in the 60's how to promote himself when he appeared on the Steve Allen Show and played the bicycle as avant-garde music..... LISTEN to "INCA ROADS"..... You'll flex some neurons, and travel new dimensions with that song. Wish you well.
I’ve got a promotional record. It’s a 45 which means to play it at 45 revolutions per minute. It’s titled I’m the slim by the mothers it was probably shortened from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.
This is actually a short guitar solo. He is known for very long guitar solos. As a matter of fact he has several albums of just guitar solos. He has incredible muscians on his albums, and even Tina Turner and the Ivette's sing background vocals on two albums. I was lucky enough to see him 66 times while he was touring. Although Frank released 62 albums while alive, 67 more have been released posthumously.
I recommend "Disco Boy" for you to listen to. Other good ones are "Jewish Princess" "Bobby Brown" and "Stick It Out", but they're probably a little too filthy for RUclips.

Zappa is the best musician ever. Not in the Rock Hall? Saw him 3 times and it blew me away. Played the guitar with his feet one time and it was great. Frank Zappa solos aren’t usually short. This track was originally released on vinyl and so song durations were more constrained. The fade out leaves you hoping for more.
Zappa was a master at improvising long yet thematic and lyrical guitar solos. And because he improvised continuously during his tours and recorded everything some solos end up forming the basis for new songs. In fact a few of those 60 albums are nothing but guitar solos.

I've been listening to Frank Zappa for 53 years now. I won't recommend you further songs because I simply don't know where to start 🙂 But... keep trying. He was truly unique... Thanks for this video!
I do this song and I changed it to, "I'm the slime oozing out of the INTER-NET." Oh yeah, good place to start with some Zappa, there is a lot, and some of it may not be the best first thing to hear from him, but this definitely IS!

Zappa is awesome. You know who eles is awesome, KGLW (king gizzard and the lizard wizard) incredibly talented rock band that does pretty much every genre and has 26 (soon 27) albums since 2012.

One reason for him releasing so many albums was so that he could be released from a contract that he wanted to get out of. A lot of them were sketches, demos, and jam session recordings that were never meant to be released.
" I'm The Slime" is perhaps a gentle introduction to Frank Zappa's genius & versatility, the lyrics are still relevant & the funky music sublime. For pure guitar I would suggest "Watermelon in Easter Hay" (album version) & "Zoot Allures" both totally different. For fun "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" & "Bobby Brown (goes down)".
You got Zapped!!! In 73' Frank was dealing with censorship, defamation, and unscrupulous record exec's. He eventually went before congress to argue against censorship in 1985. I think he also utilized those moments as, free publicity. He figured-it-out in the 60's how to promote himself when he appeared on the Steve Allen Show and played the bicycle as avant-garde music..... LISTEN to "INCA ROADS"..... You'll flex some neurons, and travel new dimensions with that song. Wish you well.

I’ve got a promotional record. It’s a 45 which means to play it at 45 revolutions per minute. It’s titled I’m the slim by the mothers it was probably shortened from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

His solos tend to be improvised on the spot.
This is actually a short guitar solo. He is known for very long guitar solos. As a matter of fact he has several albums of just guitar solos. He has incredible muscians on his albums, and even Tina Turner and the Ivette's sing background vocals on two albums. I was lucky enough to see him 66 times while he was touring. Although Frank released 62 albums while alive, 67 more have been released posthumously.
It’s more than 60 albums released, I think it’s around 80
62 when he was alive, it's now been doubled since his death.
Incidentally Frank said his favourite time of year.
I recommend "Disco Boy" for you to listen to. Other good ones are "Jewish Princess" "Bobby Brown" and "Stick It Out", but they're probably a little too filthy for RUclips.
