A veteran soldier getting cyborg arms to pummel the heck out of outworld monsters is still one of the coolest things that came out of MK. It's too bad there was never a Shaolin Monks game that took place specifically in MK3. MK3 is a treasure trove of destruction that no one ever wanted to touch.
MKX Jax had badass arms honestly. His chapter was awesome. Especially fighting in the Netherrealm with the lava everywhere. Fighting the revenants and Quan Chi with him was badass

If you want to know the details here you go: Originally it was not stated if Jax lost his arms or not, MK3 just said that he got outfitted with bionic arms but it didn't explain why; there was a sort of unspoken consensus that he still mantained his original arms underneath, if anything to justify fatalities performed on him (same reason why the cyborgs had to have their human body under the armor). That is why secondary media each made up their own explanation: in the cartoon and movie he just chooses to wear them, in the comic series he got his tendons sliced by Baraka implying he'd be forced to get the bionic arms. MK Special Forces implicitly confirmed something similar by being set before MK1 but having Jax already with the arms undeniably meaning that he could remove them for MK2 but later either chose or was forced to wear them again for MK3. (This game was released in an incomplete status though, so they never really got to explain this and it may ultimately not even be canon) It is also worth noting Jax's alternate outfit in MKDA which has him in a "gangsta" costume without the bionic arms which some liked to say confirmed he could remove them at any time or after his wounds healed, but it may as well not be canon or it may represent him at a younger age similar to semi-human Cyrax. Ultimately MK9 was THE FIRST TIME in the games we got to see Jax lose his arms. This game is of course in a new timeline, but one of Raiden's visions from the original timeline in the intro is indeed him assisting to Jax who's on an operating table getting the same bionic arms he'd get in the new timeline, so this retroactively confirms that canonically he indeed lost use of the arms in the original timeline too during or shortly after the events of MK2 (based on the order in which the flashbacks are shown)
