My study permit got approved in 25 days from Nigeria. Didn’t use an agent for the school or visa application. Most people I knew who had applied before me either had to wait for months or are still waiting, so I was a little wary at first. Plus the agents I initially talked to were being sooo negative cause I was going for a different program from my background. My first degree is in medicine, and I’m going for a tech-related program. I currently work in clinical data management and graduated from uni last year. I have to add that I went for my medicals before applying and included the results and the e-medical information sheet with my application. Also requested a study leave letter from my current company, submitted my Letter of Explanation, and the rest of the usual documents. Think this is proof enough that most agents are a waste of your money. Most of the info they can offer you is info you can get with a bit of research and by asking questions.

@@ogbomosopikin Hi. Thanks! I guess I skipped one more piece of important info. I submitted my medicals with my application, but I didn't need biometrics because I'd applied for a visitor visa before and my biometrics are still valid. So I imagine that shortened the time quite a bit as well. The reason I had submitted my medicals with the application was cause I'd heard about the Nigerian Student Express program introduced in 2020 and that was one of the eligibility criteria... to do medicals prior to applying and submit a MyBank Statement code rather than a regular bank statement.

The temporary fulltime work program is for those international students who were already in Canada with their study permit on 7th Oct 2022 (when IRCC made the announcement) or for those who applied before 7th Oct 2022 and awaiting for approval. For those who applied for their study permit after 7th Oct 2022, the original 20 hrs/week while studying restriction remains.

Buy so many will still prioritize work than school I pity them. am glad I applied on May 2022 and I will be moving to Canada this December

My daughter school was burgled, and her international Passport and study permit were stolen...although police report was gotten...the study permit expired on 31 July,2022 and she applied for the renewal of her study permit on the 17th October, 2022 because before she could apply for study it took a while because getting a replacement for lost international Passport took a while because there was no booklets in Ottawa. So she applied for renewal of her study permit after two months of expiration....they now refer to the study permit extension ..I paid extra about $350 she's just 17 years and she entered Canada in February 2022 and Passport and study permit stolen in May 2022...till now she has not received any response from ircc....please I will appreciate your advice...it's for my daughter...... from Kingsley

Hi nice video. I have a question please, are there any reasons why a study visa Would be denied? I mean aside from the obvious reasons. Canada is one of the best countries
There are many reasons. Among them: identity issue (info in passport and documents mismatch); your IELTS score is below 6; having trouble understanding interviewer's questions in English; insufficient fund; pursued studies in Canada having no relationship (or benefit) to your past career and education; expressed desire of staying in Canada after graduation; failed criminal history check; and biometric issues (no study permit).

I have a question though, I know that for express entry under the FSWP, a single person who is already in the EE pool and then gets married can add their spouse to their application after getting an invitation to apply for PR.

Hello Nneka hope you see this comment and reply.. so I started applying for university in Toronto and am from Nigeria, I have a lot of questions to ask regarding the school and it system. When applying from Nigeria as an international student using the Ouac portal, and after I have secured an admission, do I need to pay the tuition fee before going to an embassy or I will need to arrive to York university before paying for my tuition fee. Is it compulsory for me to do as an undergraduate student?

Usually, you have to pay some tuition before issuance of Letter of Acceptance (LOA) by university. With LOA, then you can fill out the form in IRCC Portal for student permit application.
If you’ve secured your admission you should confirm that info from your Letter of acceptance you received from York University. It will state there whether it is compulsory to pay Tyrion before applying for visa or not. Some schools will give a deadline to pay pay tuition for the first semester before withdraw your admission offer so be sure to confirm.

Most colleges and universities would ask for tuition be paid upfront before issuance of Letter of Acceptance (LOA). With LOA, then you can apply for a study permit via IRCC portal.
For 2 years master program, is it required that the proof of fund for one person must be for 2yrs, which is $20k CAD or $10k CAD is enough to proof?
As minimum, you show 1 year of living expensive ($10k CAD) and 1 year of tuition. I would add cost of airline ticket as well. If you want to increase your chances, show 2 years of living expenses (but not required).

It will be hard unless you have a job lining up for you upon graduation. Some have to do a 1+1 to get 2 years worth of study. You should look up the TEER (0, 1, 2, or 3) of your job. This affects your CRS score when you apply for Express Entry. If your CRS score is too low, you won't get ITA (invitation to apply).

This comes from official Canadian website for those who are limited to work 20 hours per week while studying, "Working more than 20 hours per week is a violation of your study permit conditions. You can lose your student status for doing this, and may not be approved for a study or work permit in the future. You may also have to leave the country."

You submit it with your application. For medicals, I think its better you do your medicals UPFRONT i.e before you submit your application, this allows you to submit your medical e-receipt with your other documents while applying for your visa.

@@lawiabekahabeiku This would be the first Google search you perform (about the school abd its requirements). However ~10,000 CAD is the proof of funds for any 1 person applying for study permit. It sort of depends on which province you decide to apply to study.
