My GPA sucks too, I dropped out from HS. A lot of people who work for Google also dropped out from HS according to that one website where you ask questions. (Not Yahoo)
+Elites Engineering sort of sounds like your supporting dropping out of high school which is clearly a terrible idea, but Google wants great thinkers and creative people and you don't need to be a genius to be creative.
Who knows? We can all have our childish moments from time to time. It's a great game anyway, inspires creativity. But we all have our preferences, attitudes, personalities, etc. It's what makes this kind of innovation possible.

Angelo - four years ago I expresses that i thought what they were doing is okay because in one way it was not as bad as what other companies were doing. I'm older and far less naive than i was then, and i can say confidently that its a lot worse than Angelo is saying.
I was lucky enough to walk inside this building, everything is amazing, the people, the campus, then I though "Hey maybe they will hire me" but then I remembered that i have to finish delivering that pizza, so I had to leave right away. Thanks for reading =)
It is fake, if you have so much time to play and enjoy then when you will be working. It is just to show the outside world we are so interacting, collabrative and blah blah blah. In real they get things done and stick to work. there is no place in earth where you have such freedom, if you have then that is not such a serious company.

Once there's full Linux support like hardware acceleration, usb, sounds, etc, most would probably switch to a Pixelbook or slate but I'm really impressed that Google doesn't forces them to use their own products. You can also find many iPhones in their campus and that's not at all a bad thing

All of you that are questioning should understand what a software engineer has to do. You won't exactly notice what they're doing since it usually will just come out as updates in the background of your computer. Until you understand engineering, you probably won't ever understand.
Doesn't mean anything Google make products that supports both Mac and Windows aswell as Chrome and Android products. Macs are good devices to work on its not like Google and Apple are enemies ;)

Google's bread and butter is their mobile OS, I doubt their employees use Iphones, this video was from 2013, now Google has introduced Chrome OS, however, Mac OS is still great for programming and overall productivity

If things in such a video are completely wrong then the current employees would actually come forward and complain hard. So generally speaking you can sort of trust employer branding vids from big corporations.

I'm sorry guys, I'm so confused. So when a company is basically torturing their employees with huge amounts of work, paying very little, and providing them with rude bosses, then it's a bad place to work, right? (Unless, you like that stuff) But here we have a company that is rated #1 best place to work (Fortune), gives comfort to their employees, and people are still hating. WHAT DO YOU GUYS WANT?! lol. You have to remember interns are normally not paid and the amount of them there is insane. Obviously the turnaround is ridiculous especially when they use terms like all we give a lot of responsibility to our interns. You're forcing them to do full-time wage work for free and take the load off of you? Honestly I don't think I would ever want to work for Google the mindset they have. I'd love to see a study on there turn around time I bet you it's ridiculous.

those 4 people sound like paid actors tbh, nothing they said seemed natural or enlightening in their respective fields, everyone was so similar and fake
just the way they talked about their goals and projects seemed way too scripted. And why not? they have the money to do so. I have been participating in engineering internships through out the US and most of it is very similar. Not a magical fantasy these guys seem to believe it is. Its more down to earth.
That sounds pretty ambitious. You could find a way of doing something no one has ever thought of before. Or, actually do something no one has done before. Whichever, it has to be great. Don't worry about the money. Focus on the process or the product. Once that becomes a success, the way to monitise it will come easily. Good luck. The future is only limited by your imagination. How exciting.
Google wasn't an innovative idea. Search engines already existed way before Google's inception. In a way, taking your time and learning from what's already out there helps you come up with something more polished.

This is really set up... I mean it's so set up that it doesn't feel real anymore, kind of like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. I really want to become a Quantum computer scientist, Google is one of the only Companies I know of that provides a future into this. I want to program and design, not play volleyball.
All games on computers are related to coding. Some people just get curious as to how these games work and how you can make one. Also, redstone circuits are reasonably similar to coding, enough to get some people started and interested.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure how an introvert like me would ever fit such working space where it seems you're required to communicate your ideas out loud all the time! If I'm forced to communicate what I'm thinking so frequently then that means I'm not learning new stuff for most of the time... and that's not as exciting to me.
I have had similar things happen before.. too many events.. too many meetings.. too many pretenders.. not enough time to get any actual work done. It is ridiculous and is often the death of these big companies.

You have to remember interns are normally not paid and the amount of them there is insane. Obviously the turnaround is ridiculous especially when they use terms like all we give a lot of responsibility to our interns. You're forcing them to do full-time wage work for free and take the load off of you? Honestly I don't think I would ever want to work for Google the mindset they have. those 4 people sound like paid actors tbh, nothing they said seemed natural or enlightening in their respective fields, everyone was so similar and fake
just the way they talked about their goals and projects seemed way too scripted. And why not? they have the money to do so. I have been participating in engineering internships through out the US and most of it is very similar. Not a magical fantasy these guys seem to believe it is. Its more down to earth.

In what sense is Minecraft related to coding? I play Rocket League, but that doesn't stop me from developing web apps.
All games on computers are related to coding. Some people just get curious as to how these games work and how you can make one. Also, redstone circuits are reasonably similar to coding, enough to get some people started and interested.
