  • There's always been a debate in student and professional art circles: Should you include fan art in your art portfolio? While it's a great way to showcase a passion, it can also be seen as a lack of "bringing something new to the table".
Which side of the debate do you fall on? Let's render out a bit of this Final Fantasy VII fan art painting and talk about it!

I found that my fan art is my best art because it has stories and inspires me a lot! While the original art is random and becomes boring without stories.

Hi ! Thank you for your videos. You are really becoming one of my favorite and most inspiring artist. I maybe know your art for like 4 years but beyond the art itsleft, your mindset, the way you think about art, against AI : it's really counting. Training art is really hard and keeping motivation even harder sometimes. But artist like you, you do help, a lot. Thanks.

@@ArtOfWesGardner Diserved, your content help us grown as artists. The road ahead is still long and i'm quite happy with my last years progress but i'm still frustrated of my overall quality, something is definitly missing, I hope very much to find what in your video ( by the way the one about edges was very interesting !)

I don't like the idea of selling fan art/prints as a method to make money. In places like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and to a lesser extent France and Italy, people sell derivative work, but it's mostly out of love for the original project. Economically their systems are setup to facilitate smaller artists, in Japan their printing companies are so efficient and capable of working with independent artists, you can order 500 copies of a 20 page book the week before a major convention and have them deliver it there on site, day of and have it cost about 150 bucks.
