Port Antonio is a city on Jamaica’s northeast coast and the capital of Portland Parish. It’s known as a gateway to nearby tropical jungles, mountains and waterfalls. In the John Crow Mountains, Reach Falls flows into a river pool. Near Hope Bay, Somerset Falls flows on the grounds of a former plantation. In the east, the Blue Lagoon is known for its blue waters, fed by the Caribbean Sea and underground springs.

Thank you to all the viewers and subscribers who keep supporting this channel it's such a joy. I will never take it for granted I will keep improving and bringing the best content. Blessings 🙌
It would be great if you talked a bit about what the buildings are and any history
That's not the purpose of the channel. My intent is not to narrate and give historical facts but simply to show the natural ambience. I do give a little background in the description but constantly speaking in the video would take away from what I'm trying to do
These walks are always my favorite. I love hearing the natural ambience as if I was fortunate enough to be walking there myself, a virtual visit throughout Jamaica. And the background music fits well, proper tempo and sound level, enhances not detracts.
Thanks alot Tom. It's really a joy to see that what I have set out to do is well received by my most valued viewers and subscribers. I appreciate you watching and for the feedback. Bless up
I love this video, I grew up in port Antonio. I haven’t been back since Covid but this video really bring me back to the reality, connecting me with family from far. This video captured everything beautifully I got to see my uncle (Skill man) and it just made me tear up. Nuff love to the Jamaica walk by producers.
This comment really means alot because it's people like you who really inspire me to start up this channel. I'm so happy I was able to show you your hometown and it's even more wonderful that you saw someone that you knew. I really appreciate you for watching and for your feedback. Blessings
Yeah mon wa guan...hear me say beautiful town....bigg ups to my Jamaican brothers from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. One luv....licka more.

Iam from Nigeria, but living in UK, Jamaica is just like Nigeria. I was so amazed. Iam really surprised. I really love this video.

My oh my!!! My daddy comes from "Port Antonio" and when me and my siblings were small he used to sit us on his knees and tell us stories about his hometown and we were so fascinated!!! Then when I was about 6 or 7 years old we visited family there but there's only certain parts I remember. I guess my older siblings would remember more than me!!! Anyway seeing this video about my father's Birth place is Astonishing!!! What a beautiful place and I'm so proud to say I've visited and that my father comes from there. I also am making plans to revisit!!! This time I will fully appreciate my surroundings and will take some beautiful memories back home to England!!...🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
That's my aunt's shop on Harbour at, The lucozade store next to the bank🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 "Big up" Aunty Stella and Clarissa deh ya Harbour St!!!
Wow that's great I'm happy I was able to show you daddy's old stomping ground. We have a series of videos from this beautiful parish, I would give you some examples but I don't want to spoil the surprise but I'm sure you'll 😄 blessings

Please accept my condolences. Otherwise, I hope you have a great trip
Wow.. I'm Jamaican but have never been to beautiful Portland. Will be there this month. Thanks for sharing. ❤.
It's worth the visit it's just peaceful and relaxing
im rewatching this after spending 2 weeks in Port Antonio, and its even better! The lady in the blue shirt in the market (when the girl said dont put her on camera) knows my grandma since i was born, She used to go buy me lunch she was telling me when i saw her back in December. My granny would send her to buy my lunch when i spent the days with her in the summer, i bought a bucnh from her and got a big hug. This is making me very happy but sad at the same time, mi waan go a yaad bad bad again!!
So great to see my mother's home town 'Porti' in living history. Many thanks with love from the UK.

1 am utterly astonished that Port Antonio food market is so full of culture. I don't think that you can go anywhere else, and find clothing so beautiful, welcoming, and well built. 🤷 🤔 Lots of respect, gorgeous kings and queens. 🤴🙏 Very pretty township * Amazingly awesome.
Hey Ava. I was blown away too. The variety was just amazing and incredible 🙂🇯🇲. Thanks for watching

Nice place that , am a vincy reside in the States but am always fascinated with the diverse culture of Jamaica nuff respect still nice thing that
Thank you so much for watching
Excellent!
I have watched numerous walk by videos of other RUclipsrs walking through markets in other countries. This market is the model to which the others should aspire. It is neat, clean, everything in order, music playing, no visible flies and other pests at the meat market, and acceptably sanitary conditions.
It’s, “come back to Jamaica” time.
Thanks for you feedback
Love this video.... this is truly a walk by ... unfiltered ... like you said in the beginning.... showing exactly what one would see if there. Love the time taken to walk through the market.... great video .... two thumbs up ... subscribe a must if one can't donate.
Wow! I didnt know Port Antonio was so extensive and beautiful coastal. - Mobay and Ochi rolling into one. The market all set for tourists and locals. Another wonderful informative walkby. Thank u 'mon' 😍😃💯🥂
Hello Althea. It really is breathtakingly beautiful. It was such a pleasure filming this and I'm happy you are enjoying it as well. Have a blessed day
JWB, much blessing & respec fe dis vid of Portland Town. Its my very first visit to this ya channel so congratulations on the professionalism of the production. It indeed has its own unique style and fashion. Never been to Jamaica b4 but the realism of these gently flowing and winding footage, with its echoing natural sounds of peaceful people, has an uncanny resemblance to St Lucia. As a St Lucian now residing inah Hngland right now, I'm hoping to visit this vibrant town very soon to sample the many kinds of incredible flavored food and Reggae music. Thank you for the Jamaica Walk By and love to u all. "Promotion is key". I will like subscribe and share.
When I started to read your comment I was convinced that you were Jamaican until u mentioned 🇱🇨 . Thanks so much for the feedback. I've put alot of work into thus channel over the passed 2 years it has been challenging but I love what I do. It brings me joy to see so many people loving the content. Blessings and love
This is where my dad came from . Sadly he never got to show me himself so grateful to see it now. Thank - you from UK
Good day and bless up. Sorry about your dad. I'm happy you were able to see what the town looks like. I did a series of videos in the parish showing some famous attractions I hope you look our for those. Thanks so much for watching

Beautiful my brother great work! And great choice for background music. Bless🇬🇳
❤my home town , beautiful parish . Every vacation to Jamaica I have to visit Portland .
The best parish
Used to call Port Antonio as a young seaman onboard the M/V Northern Lights 1966-67 and M/V Northland 1970-71. Those was Norwegian reefer vessels on charter to The Jamaica Banana Producers Steamship Co for trade between ports in Jamaica and London. Good memories of a great island and nice peoples.
Thanks for watching
Fascinating video, I walked along with the videographer and was able to identify every street and lane, and having been to Portie lately was able to identify the newer buildings and where they are. One word of correction to the video operator Portland is the parish, while Port Antonio is the major town. Truth be told I never really noticed the size till the walk-by.
Jamaica walk by, I appreciate your video I enjoy every minute of them. I know it is not easy to film and upload but please keep them coming and keep up the good work.
Thanks alot! not easy at all but im really trying my best, so thanks you so much for this lovely comment!! thanks always for watching.

Gwaan dweet yah mi family, first time watching the channel! Brand new subscriber! 🇯🇲 Rate the respectful energy u show everyone, u must reach far inna life!
Thanks for that my bro
🙏 anytime!
The colours of these stalls are amazing! Many of them are higglers and are so knowledgeable and skilled.Good job bringing these our people to the world. We also know that a lot of Jamaican stall owners are being pushed out of the central shopping mall and tourist areas for non-black foreign settlers to sell Jamaicans their goods, when Jamaican farmers wives and family members have alway made their living and survive through this way of life for centuries.
Yes the variety of these fresh produce is really eye catching. These entrepreneurs really take pride in what they do. Very industrious people my Jamaican brothers and sisters 😌 thank you for watching
do higglers higgle on Sunday? Asking for a friend
I Love Jamaica From MONACO 🇲🇨

Thks for this. Looks like a beauty of a place. Love all the organic food in.market. fresh food...not old food from months ago like in the UK. Colours everywhere. Big plants. Green yellow palms. Damn man I need a coconut now and some chilled tunes by Bob.
Never been. Arriving May 1st right here. Live and direct. I'm so excited.
Wonderful tour of my destination for my chilled break. Thank you very much.❤
beautiful video excellent views. Raw jamaican style big up whoever you are for making this video! 🇬🇧

I love the market, it's so clean and beautiful. In my opinion, it's by far appealing than Cornation Market. No doubt! Parish of Portland is a rainy parish, which is a blessing. Bless up Portlandier! I am a Kingstonian, but I love country life. Bless up brother.
Bless up for the feedback Isaac. I also absolutely love Portland. What a great parish

Beautiful I always wanted to come to Jamaica but I was afraid this vido take away my fear I shall surely visit some time
Honestly there's alot of crazy things that happen in Jamaica but I think it's completely fine to visit just be vigilant as you would be anywhere else and preferably be in the company of someone you trust who knows their way around and you'll be fine. Portland has a remarkable reputation though, very very low crime rate over the years, alot to see and do and the people are warm and friendly. I hope you have a great time when you visit.
Come visit Jamaica, don't worry about what you hear. I guarantee you will enjoy yourself.
This right here is the reason why when it is time for a holiday.. no matter where else on this planet i am invited to.. i always ended up home aka Portie. Thank you for this video.

This is a super nice video. I'm not from Jamaica but i know some of these places from watching other Portland RUclipsrs. Drizzy Burke Walking TV, Chucky and Simon, Brooksie and Family, Bawdacat, Grizzle Boss, Principle Boss and more. I've seen the Butcher Shop and the Craft Market. Errol Flynn Marina, all the hardware store even the Rubis gas station. But your video brings it all into one with full context. BOOMIN'

This is a GREAT video, I Loved it. Thanks for sharing your time with us 🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏾👍🏾. I would definitely consider visiting there I was wondering one thing, the locals don't mind being filmed? The camera sees all... like someone threw on a rag just to quickly grab something from the market, and now they're immortalized on video. Lol 🤣 ... But great job 👏🏾. You have a new subscriber.
Maximum respect for the feedback Brad.. well it's a mixed reaction 😅 some persons love being filmed, some hate it but somehow skilfully dodge the camera while others sometimes curse me out. Overall filming is very difficult considering the different personalities but I absolutely love what I do so I try to handle every situation calm, tactfully and with respect
@@JAMAICAWALKBY You're welcome for the feedback, no problem, and I can understand it being difficult when dealing with a lot of people. Few people even in Jamaica realise that, back when locations like Montego Bay and Ocho Rios were tiny fishing villages, tourism to the island started with Port Antonio when an American banana exporter had the idea to pick up paying passengers for the return trip from New York to Boundbrook Wharf. By the 1950s Port Antonio had become a prime vacation destination for Hollywood A-listers, most notably infamous hellraiser Errol Flynn, who acquired an island off the coast and whose widow, Patrice Whymore, remained there for the rest of her life. Elders still recall fondly how wealthy Americans would regularly drink the town dry. Being mountainous, Portland endures epic annual rainfall compared to the rest of Jamaica, so international airports, when they came, were constructed four hours drive away in either direction, leading to Port Antonio's virtual demise as a tourist attraction. Thus the most picturesque parish by common consent due to the lush flora has also become the most neglected because tourists often find it too costly and time-consuming to reach.
You have a wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback
I believe Portland's relative safely is directly related to its remoteness. If and when they ever fix the roads, spruce up the buildings and maybe revive the railway, making Port Antonio a viable tourist destination and more accessible to outsiders, crime is certain to increase. So development, if it arrives, will be a double-edged sword. I'm British and first visited Port Antonio in 2005. I soon realised that everyone knew my every move; from where I was staying to which car I arrived in. Why? Because I stood out. If I had been up to no good, I would have been easily identified. Thousands of outsiders will be more difficult to track and more difficult to protect.
Hmm this is actually a good point
