The secret origin of Penelope Garcia meeting her brother and learning the tragedy of how they lost their parents really explains a lot of why she is the way she is. I get she wanted to free herself from guilt but pulling this on her brother who blamed the driver was a bad move on her part he never knew the whole story and just assumed if was the driver’s fault. Case was pretty uneventful and the unsub wasn’t that sympathetic from what’s implied he just didn’t have the manners for hospitality and that’s why he lost the restaurant.
I agree that this guy gets the death penalty. Getting Penelope's back story was different, I do think she should have talked things out with her brother.
This is what cemented Penelope as a massively selfish person to me. She literally only does things to suit her emotional equilibrium and will never even try to compromise for another person. Her brothers didn't even get adolescent memories of their parents all because someone who knew better decided to go for a joy ride. I can understand how someone can forgive because they think that adolescents can't have real criminal responsibility it always has to be mitigated in someway but not everyone thinks that way and Penelope knew her brother did not share the same sentiments as her and she went around him to do what made her feel better. This is actually a part of toxic femininity that a lot of people don't like to discuss. Penelope is peppy and goofy and she speaks in a little baby voice (even though she's 30+) but we never see her truly sacrifice something like the rest of the team and we always see the team spend so much emotional toil on making Penelope feel okay and that puts her in villain territory for me. The whole pink jumper for Roxy was a very kid friendly example of her selfishness and was the only time she was shut down and even then she shut herself down 🙄 She gives off dark empath vibes in spades.
