The famous artist who is known as the number one artist in Taiwan’s art circle, Au Ho-Nien. He had been friend with Ambassador Drumright for over 70 years. He gifted the Drumright couple several paintings, including a large tiger painting.
Au Ho-Nien had a solo exhibition at the San Diego Museum of Art , California, United States, from July 14 to August 13 of 1979, which was arranged by the Drumright couple. This was a month-long solo exhibition featuring dozens of paintings, including landscapes, figures, animals, birds, flowers, insects, and fish... etc. It was the most important event of cultural exchanges at the museum in recent years.
Ambassador & Mrs. Drumright invited Au Ho-Nien and wife, Chu Moo-Lan to stay with them for a week so Prof. Au said they had a wonderful memory about the time with the Drumrights.
Art Master Au, Ho-Nien passed away in Taipei on April 25, 2024, at the age of 90.
